I have been reading a ton of posts about FBG's turning 40 or close to. I am three weeks a way and really reflecting back on my life. I thought I would share, and other 40 year old dudes can post too.

It's just a number, man. Other than constant lower back pain, and left knee pain, and pain in both rotator cuffs, and tinnitus, and loss of energy and a will to live, I feel just as great as I did 20 years ago.

Hopefully you are making a lot of jack at 40. Depending on your field this is the money making decade.

Also, don't be that guy with the mid-life crisis #### - be a man, act like one. Note I'm not saying things associated with that are wrong - but rather piss or get off the pot.

I'm shooting more for the 50's as the money making decade. Once the kids are in college and physically I'm not in the condition to mountain bike like I plan on doing in the 40's, I'll have plenty of time to invest in a job that requires longer hours than I'm willing to put in now and throughout my 40's.

Nah, I'm retiring in my early 40s

Unless you are attached to a succubus. Then, even though you make double what you made in your 20s, your life is the same.

For me the 36th birthday was worse than 40. 36 is kind of where you realize you're a full fledged middle aged adult.

Just turned 46 back in August, feel as young as I ever have. No I am not in the same shape I was when I was 20, but by staying active in coaching year round and constantly being aroun high school kids it just makes you feel younger. Stay active - and 40 is not old. Check back with me at 70 as I do not plan on slowing down any in the next 25 years.

I'm 52. I'm twice-divorced, am dealing with cancer, and am today watching the Terps get smoked by a bunch of inbreds playing for a coach whose parents were stupid enough to name "Urban".

My life has never been better. I have a lady I lucked into and who I don't deserve. Great job. Fantastic herd of family & friends.

40 kind of ####ed me up, too. But better is in front of you if you want it to be.

That's the attitude.

Recently turned 42. Boy was Douglas Adams wrong about it being the answer to life the universe and everything. Probably not even a restaurant at the end of the universe either.

I played soccer today with a bunch of little kids and lost my balance when i sprinted for the ball and landed on my knee. Luckily no major damage but it was touch and go for a moment.
