50-100 Amazon workers trapped in distribution center after tornado in Illinois (1 Viewer)

Some need big daddy to tell them what to do in situations including when their life is on the line in an emergency.

I give most people credit that they have good intentions but nah a company has no right to threaten people with termination if they wanted to leave.  That is not about keeping people safe, that is about control.  If it were about safety then saw the results of the failed policy.  They should burn.

I trust my own instincts in an emergency situation.  Instincts have saved me more than a few times.

No...its not telling them what to do in an emergency...then again it sort of is...because people will complain that they were not trained on what to do or were not told what to do...right?

Its a liability thing...a company telling them they can't leave for their own safety is because of that.  It is about keeping people safe and liability.  And I find the statement "they should burn" to be in pretty poor taste.

Im glad you feel you have great instincts...but not sure what that has to do with this.  Someone may feel they have great instincts...leave and get caught in the path of a storm...then their family sues because the company should have kept them there sheltered and safe.

I know I'm late to the party but a company during a state of emergency or bad weather cannot force employees to stay at work with the threat of termination. If the company said stay here as it's the safest place we got excusable shelter, stop working and etc I could see that but threatening termination and telling people to keep working gets people in a ton of trouble. Those who had family die and coworkers left there could file a class action lawsuit against these companies for even suggesting termination and win handsomely. Many people are already slaves to their jobs do to poor pay especially warehouse workers, delivery people and retail. These types of threats are just reinforcements by the company to brainwash their employees to be good little soldiers.

Note: They don't care about you, just their profits. You could die in a car accident tomorrow and they'd say "oh well (tell your family sorry for their loss make a donation for you thats tax deductible on them) and then say now we can get someone cheaper in here."  I know it sounds horrible but those of us who work these jobs have numerous horror stories on things like this. I had a manager fired by my old retail company for threatening termination to people who didn't stay during a state of emergency. Company wasn't going to keep someone who had they done so a bunch of us were ready to take him to court and win since we had witness from customers and phone video of it.
