5th Pick Strategy 10 team League Brady or Moss (1 Viewer)

Everyone with the 5th pick let's discuss your options here.

The 1st 4 picks seem to be in some order of Ladainain, Peterson, Westbrook and Jackson.

So now it is your turn with the 5th pick. I am torn between Brady and Moss.

They both are the clear cut top players at the Quarterback and Wide Receiver positions.

With 6 points per Touchdown Brady definately looks very nice.

Also Randy with the PPR is looking great as well.

So how do you decide this one? Brady or Moss? Moss or Brady?

It seems like you can't go wrong either way. So who is the 5th overall pick and what is your strategy in the 2nd and 3rd rounds?

What about Addai?

I am also in 6 pt TD league ( 12 team ) that Qb's go fast in. I think 5 is way too high to be thinking Moss. He'll have a good year but most likely nothing like last year.

Brady is very tempting here especially in a 10 teamer I'm just not sure he is worth that high of a pick.

In a 6 point per TD league.......Brady hands down. Don't look back, there will be plenty of everything else in rounds 2+.

You have more room to be creative in a 10-teamer. If you pass on RB in the 1st, a good one should still fall to you in the 2nd.

If you think Brady can come close to last year's numbers, take him. If you think he'll regress, pass. You'll find those kinds of numbers in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th. If you pass, take Moss or Addai.

I'm in ppr QB heavy league at pick 5 and I am all about Brady here. Moss is alot more injury risk than Brady and also this will open up your bench for other players as well. Not having to carry 2 or 3 qb's. And the Rb's are also pretty equal between 5-12 after the top 4. Brady all the way. Possible Welker combo later in draft!!! Just my 2 cents

Not to hijack but would your view change if this were a 12 team league instead of a 10 team league?

Yes, I'd have to think a lot harder about that one. Moving from 10 teams to 12 teams makes more of a difference than that of 4 ppTD to 6ppTD IMO.

I still think you need to look at Brady in a 12 teamer, after last years let down of the top backs I want some one who going to give me 20-25 plus every game. Joe Addai can be a good pickup but look at the risk nobody knows how Rhodes will be used and Mike Hart may get some carries. Frank Gore could be great in a PPR but what if you blows up like last year. And as easy as New England's schedule is this year if Brady doesn't throw for 35+ something is very wrong. I look at things diffrent than some owners I like to look at percentages and week to week production. If i draft Addai at 5 and he goes down for 6 weeks I am in big trouble with very little chance of recovery. But If I have a Stud QB and Thomas Jones or my 3rd or 4th round RB pick goes down Brady can recover any points lost between my 1RB and my 3RB.And the chances that Brady goes down are very little to none.It just seems that week to week it is alot simpler and easier to overcome an opponent with a stud QB, won 5 out of 9 Cbs Gold leagues with this strategy with Brady Manning and Romo last year.

In my 6 pt per pass TD league, Brady will be gone. I think it will go LT, Brady, SJax (STL area league), ADP ahead of me. So who to pick now?

Westbrook? Addai?

I drafted last night in a very similar league: 10 team redraft, PPR, all TD's 6 pts, 2 flex (WR/RB and WR/TE) so you can get away with starting only 2 RB and as many as 4 WR each week.

Brady didn't make it to 5. I took him at 4.

I caught Housh and Fitz with my next two picks and added Cotchery, Ward and Crayton later on.

RB is a bit shaky -- Jacobs, James, McFadden and Rice.

I was a bit worried after making the pick while watching and waiting for my second, but I'm happy with how it turned out.

all my local leagues have 6 points for all TDs as well and I still wouldnt even consider Brady in the 1st round...

Addai is the pick at 5 all day...

No love for Gore? I think Addai right ahead of Gore, but in PPR, gotta give Gore a serious look imo. I have the 6th in a redraft, I think i will have to choose from Gore/Addai/Brady.

Redraft - 10 teams -5th pick

Same position here, and I love it. This is going to be the easiest first round I can remember in years for me anyways. It's Brady, and I haven't even thought about it for weeks.

Brady.....whatever Moss would get....Brady would also get a taste of. That's not the same for Moss. Plus, there are a lot of WR's out there.

Do you believe in VBD?
I guess, I always draft for value, and IMO there is more value in a top RB or a stud WR in a PPR league than there is in Brady...I dont think the Brady owner won any of my leagues last year. Also I love watching QBs fly off the board in the first few rounds of my draft only to let stud RBs and WRs fall to me, while I grab a solid QB a little later...last year I got Romo in the 9th round, someone took Big Ben about the same time, Hasselbeck was a more than solid QB, Anderson was a stud off the WW...Ill take my chances with guys like that to go with my stud WRs and RBs I draft while they are taking top QBs...

Im in a 12 team league with 6 pts per pass TDs (-2 for INT) with the 5th pick and was dead set on getting Addai but now Im second guessing myself to take Brady. He had 150 more pts than the 2nd ranked QB last year. If he does that again its a no-brainer but according to my projections I only have him scoring 45 more pts than the 2nd QB. I think Id rather Addai, top WR, hopefully Brees/Romo/Palmer in the 3rd round than Brady/Grant/Burress but according to my projections the first group is outscored by the second group 777-721

The latest VBD app customized for my league scoring says to go:

LT

Brady :goodposting:

ADP

Westy

Moss

It has Addai at #6 but I don't think I could go WR at 5, so I'd grab Addai at 5 if this is the way it plays out.

What if it's 4pt pass TD's w/ 2pt bonus for TD's over 50yds and QB's can be used as a flex? Would you say Brady is the 5th pick in a 12 teamer ppr redraft?
