wat?So the rule is to assume parenthesis even if there aren't parenthesis? I didn't realize this. (Or at least if I learned it in math I've forgotten it.) I would have gotten that wrong.
Order of Operations. PEMDAS and the like.So the rule is to assume parenthesis even if there aren't parenthesis? I didn't realize this. (Or at least if I learned it in math I've forgotten it.) I would have gotten that wrong.
If there are no parenthesis then you do order of operations which means multiplication and division come before addition and subtraction. So the rule is to assume parenthesis even if there aren't parenthesis? I didn't realize this. (Or at least if I learned it in math I've forgotten it.) I would have gotten that wrong.
I was helping my 6th grader with this subject just a few weeks ago.Order of Operations. PEMDAS and the like.So the rule is to assume parenthesis even if there aren't parenthesis? I didn't realize this. (Or at least if I learned it in math I've forgotten it.) I would have gotten that wrong.
Maybe you can get him(her) to teach you how to underline?I was helping my 6th grader with this subject just a few weeks ago.Order of Operations. If it were (6-1) x (0 +2) / 2 then you'd have 5.
I think.

I think.0

We have rules, so that people do not die.OK- so why do we have an order of operations rule? I get that we have one but what's the logic of it? Wouldn't it be far simpler to go from left to right unless there were parenthesis?
Aside from destroying the commutative property and all proofs that depend on it, sure.OK- so why do we have an order of operations rule? I get that we have one but what's the logic of it? Wouldn't it be far simpler to go from left to right unless there were parenthesis?
