7 weeks of holiday commercials. Really? (1 Viewer)

Shutout

Whatever happened to the idea of at least waiting until the turkey got cold before saturating us with holiday sales pitches?

How can people possibly get into the nostalgia and special feelings of the holiday season when the "season" is as long as summer?

Overreacting or anyone else already tired of this?

I agree. It seems it gets earlier and earlier every year. I dont remember Christmas commercials right after Halloween last year like this year but maybe i just forgot.

No. I'm not generally anti-consumerist, but Wal-Mart already started the holiday stuff with Melissa Joan Hart as soon as November hit. Too soon, guys. C'mon.

Yeah, it just bugs me.

If nothing else, I am curious about how it affects parents with young kids. I remember being a kid and thinking the 2-3 week buildup was crazy and bugging adults about stuff. Wonder what its like now. Do the kids just tune it out or do they amp up over it for 2 months? Stuff like that.

But, overall, its just comical to walk into a Target to buy last minute Halloween candy, see a sign that says "Happy Thanksgiving", and glance over to the left and see nothing but Christmas trees, reindeer lawn ornaments, and stockings.

My kids have already made their first few lists. Mom and I are almost done shopping for them already. Kind of kills the Christmas spirit of last minute shopping while the internet has killed the mall frenzy. The night of Thanksgiving might still be entertaining at Wal-Mart.

My kids drive me ####### nuts with this. I basically refuse to discuss it or engage in conversation until after thanksgiving.
