73rd Golden Globes (Jan. 10th) - Ricky Gervais = host (1 Viewer)

Feels like Leo will be nominated and probably win for Best Actor this year. Guess he has finally done enough. I have yet to to see the film and I will but I'm betting it is one of those roles where you wish they would have given it to him for a dozen others.

I don't think Training Day is all that with Denzel and wish they had given it to him for many other roles...technically they did but that's another matter.

The room was electric when he won so I would guess they want a repeat in about 6 weeks.

Judging by the reaction tonight I agree. Will probably be one of the best bets in the major categories.

I think the two winners here... DiCaprio and Damon will get the top nods.

But also think players like Steve Carell and Eddie Redmayne have just as good shots at it as the others.

Gervais was awful. Half his time was spent talking about how "dangerous" of a choice he was to host. Like it was 2012 or something.

Did anyone else see Leo's reaction when Lady Gaga walked past and brushed by him? He was unaware she was walking right behind him and he was either in deep eye contact with someone or possibly flirting it looked like to me with someone at another table. Anyways she walks by him and his little reaction to whoever he was looking at, it was a natural look not scripted acting line and it was rather funny.

Imagine sending Leo and Lady Gaga on a date. DiCaprio judging by his reaction looks like he might be scared of her.

No mention by any here of Stallone?
The live audience was thrilled he won and people were standing the entire time he was walking towards the stage. I didn't see an Oscar nod but he might get it now even if he doesn't win. Stallone is 69, not going to be very many roles in his future where he can nab an award late in his career. Would be a nice moment on Oscar night if he waled the stage and said a few final words in his career.

The show was definitely a snoozer. Lacked the boozy moments that made the show in the past. Presenters trying way too hard to be funny and most fell flat. Gervais going through the motions at this point. Best moment of the night (besides Katy Perry breasts) probably when they played the Rocky music after Stallone win announced. Loved Aziz Ansari read the how to lose with dignity to Tambor book too. The only real surprise of the night was Spotlight losing to Revenant, by then most of the audience asleep though.

I have herd you talk about Spotlight. I was raised in the Catholic Church and have already dealt with a lot of this stuff, my choice was to leave Catholicism all together even though I never was personally violated by any priest growing up...my priests were too bz sleeping with the women in the church to worry about the boys. I did not find the film as compelling as you did but I have a built in bias I suppose. I know and understand the horrors of the Catholic Church but this material felt a little dated at this point.

It was about print journalism and uncovering the story. Loaded with great performances. Wasn't really about the church scandal.

I thought Gervais was pretty good, basically when you are a host of one of these events you either pander to the crowd in front of you or you pander to the audience watching on TV. He seemed to go to the well a few too many times bashing the importance (or lack thereof) of the award but otherwise he had some decent one liners that had me laughing. Jonah Hill on the other hand bombed, that was uncomfortable to watch.

No real suspense/drama. I liked it quite a bit though.

Jesus that's a lot of makeup on her face. I bet she puts it on with a trowel from a 5 gallon bucket

That said I'd definitely like to titty#### her melons
Enlarge the picture it gets worse. She has a lot of body moles it looks like and the pancake make up is filling in a lot of grand canyons on that face. She will not and is not aging all that well.

Had me going a few times. He can't do this every year, but yeah that was good to watch.

I liked when Gervais said the show was too long.

His beer glass was at the same level a couple times so it was obvious he wasn't drinking. It's all an act anyways.

Problem is there was no drama. Ok, they wanted to uncover the molestation scandal but it had been going forever and Keaton's character even blew it off for what, decade? I don't disagree with what you wrote but there was no real urgency. Also thought Liev Schreiber's character wasn't used enough - him being brought it was supposed to be big deal and then...nothing.

Not sure what to say other than I completely disagree.

Yeah, that was very funny.

See, I'm from the school of "ginormous natural breasts kinda cancel out body moles"

I thought Revenant was a lock with Inarritu directing seeing it was given by the foreign press
spotlight was something like -1000 online betting
Spotlight was excellent. My favorite this year was still The Big Short, with Spotlight and Sicario 2/3 in some order. Wasn't overwhelmed by Revenant although it was really well done and Leo is deserving. But he's been deserving about 5 other times now too, so yeah.

Boring show. Gervais was pretty bad. I think it was Entertainment Weekly who pointed out several of his jokes were lifted straight from his first year as a host. It was like he wasn't even trying this year. Time to stop going back to that well.

The Jonah Hill/Bear thing was really pathetic. I can't believe anyone thought that was funny and thought it should go on the air.

Happy for Leo. Guy has proven to be a damn good actor.

Best part of the night without a doubt were Katy Perry's Golden Globes.
