John's voice blended so well with Justin Hayward's that it was often hard to discern whose voice was who's when they sang together.John Lodge, co-lead vocalist and bass player for The Moody Blues, 82
Teaming up on 1981's "Gemini Dream". RIP John Lodge.John's voice blended so well with Justin Hayward's that it was often hard to discern whose voice was who's when they sang together.
Only Hayward is left from their classic 1967-78 lineup.John's voice blended so well with Justin Hayward's that it was often hard to discern whose voice was who's when they sang together.John Lodge, co-lead vocalist and bass player for The Moody Blues, 82
Here is his best known song, Ride My See Saw. This is the album version that includes the spoken intro by fellow recently deceased Moodie Mike Pinder.
Yes, that song and "I'm Just A Singer" were probably my favorite songs written by Lodge.John's voice blended so well with Justin Hayward's that it was often hard to discern whose voice was who's when they sang together.John Lodge, co-lead vocalist and bass player for The Moody Blues, 82

damn. I'm not a big fan of genre one way or the other, but every one of his albums worked for me.Soul singer D'Angelo died from pancreatic cancer at age 51. He only released three albums over the course of two decades but they were all classics.

My favorite Kiss album moment is Shock Me off Alive II. Wore that album out as a kid.“Shock Me”
The only thing Ace didn’t play on the studio track was the drums. Plus he handled the vocals. Paul and Gene must’ve gone on a beer run.
RIP. Spaceman
The guitar riff definitely has a "Shock Me" vibe, but then again thousands of songs have that same riff.Always loved this song and wondered why it wasn’t a big hit following up New York Groove:

We got a little surprise for you tonight…
In my opinion, he’s the only member of the original four that could have successfully had a solo career, and he did.Definitely a rock star in every sense of the word.
Same here.ETA: I'll be spending time this morning listening to his entire solo album - been a very long time.
Also worth re-spinning the Frehley's Comet debut album. Probably the best guitar work of his career. In my opinion, he’s the only member of the original four that could have successfully had a solo career, and he did.Definitely a rock star in every sense of the word.

I told my wife last night, if he just falls and doesn’t hit his head, nothing newsworthy. But he evidently hit his head, and that’s not good.My first favorite rock band.
RIP Ace.
Crazy to go out so quickly after what was described as a minor fall. Sucks.

"New York Groove" is such a good song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXeeY9D9u94&list=RDDXeeY9D9u94&start_radio=1ETA: I'll be spending time this morning listening to his entire solo album - been a very long time.
The beginning of the end of Ace's tenure with Kiss was in this infamous 1979 appearance on the Tom Snyder talk show. Ace was visibly hammered and cackling, with Peter amused, Paul tolerating it, and Gene clearly pissed.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJe7eZJaVJU (grainy footage but you get the point)
Seems like they worked things out later in life, but the more free-spirited Ace and Peter were just oil and water to the serious/business-minded Paul and Gene.
Huh. Never heard the original New York Groove by Hello before or knew Ace covered Do Ya (original by The Move and then ELO).The beginning of the end of Ace's tenure with Kiss was in this infamous 1979 appearance on the Tom Snyder talk show. Wow what a great video. It couldn't paint a better picture of Gene.
Kiss is a horrible band, but I respect Ace's musicianship. His covers of New York Groove and Do Ya shows he at least appreciated good music.
Just 48. Came out of nowhere to me but I guess he had a liver transplant about a decade ago. For all the crap LB gets as a band, not a fan myself, they actually are some pretty talented musicians.sam rivers, bass player for limp bizkit
I actually never appreciated how good of a guitarist Wes Borland was until recently. Seems like they’ve been having a good run sad to see Rivers pass.Just 48. Actually I've listened to the original New York Groove a few times now. I find Ace's claim very suspicious that he never heard the original before doing his cover.Huh. Family Jewels really showed Gene was all about the business and didn't really care about the music. If it sold, it was good.
RIP Muscle Hamster…Former Tampa Bay RB Doug Martin, age 36. No real details.
