A comprehensive list of cars you've owned (1 Viewer)

2. In college I bought a used 1980 Datsun 280z..looked great and I thought I was cool.  Took a girl out on a date and it was raining and she said it is all wet on the floor.  I lift up the mat and you can see right through to the road. A hole had rusted right through the floorboard. Within 6 months everything was rusting out. Not counting that it broke down at least once a month. I totaled it while driving drunk home from a party at 3am.  Took a turn too fast hit a big curb that buckled the whole front end and sideswiped a telephone pole, I got out and left it there and ran to a friends house.  Went to the police station the next day because the car had been towed and they asked if I was drinking and I said of course not.
My wife owned 3 cars in our years together - a 280Z, 240Z, 300ZX. They were fun to drive - though i didnt think they roadhugged all that well - but not with her in em. She was the hotrodder in the family & would give me an assault-grade slap every time she thought i road the clutch.

'82 Pontiac Grand Prix - Was doing about 110 down I55 when I threw a rod. Whole engine went up in flames.

'84 Ford Crown Vic - Loved this car. Typical cop car, had the cig lighter spot light. I could pull people over with it.

'86 Honda CRX - Fun car. Hatchback was put to good use multiple times.

'89 Suzuki Samurai - Hunk of crap, but its legendary among the inner circle of friends. How this car wasn't the death of me will remain a mystery.

'93 Honda Civic - Came with the wife

'95? Dodge Intrepid - Boring

'00 Honda Accord

'04 Nissan Ultima

'06 Volvo S40

'09 Jeep Wrangler (current)

'14 Ford Fusion (current)

Probably one or two I'm missing in there.

Between 1986 and about 1992 I would buy cars, drive them, fix them up and sell them.  Actually had a couple more that I can't remember or won't list.  These are the ones I actually titled and drove for a while.  Some were owned at the same time.

1966 Corvair Convertible Triple Blue - paint/top/interior  Turbo charged air cooled motor

1969 1/2 Dodge Super Bee 440 Six Pack - Hemi Orange, 4 spd.

1969 Firebird  Sprint 6 - Dark blue, white interior

1968 GTO Red w/black interior,  400 automatic.

1969 Camaro Orange w/white interior.  350 Automatic.  This was my longest held car of the muscle cars I owned.  Kept it for 4 years.

1966 VW Karmen Gia convertible  - The floor boards were rotted out, you could see pavement

1970 Challenger RT White w/black interior.  383 4 spd w/pistol grip.

1970 Road Runner Yellow w/black interior.  383 automatic.

1981 Mazda RX7 Copper, 4 spd

1984 Subaru Wagon.  Daily driver, not for profit

1984 VW GTI - Black 4spd. Daily driver, not for profit

1976 Dodge something - I can't even remember the model.  It was crap brown and drove down property values in the neighborhood

1972 Barracuda Red w/black interior. 340 4 spd w/pistol grip
**** last Car I bought with the intention of selling for profit ****

1990 Dodge Raider

1988 Nissan Stanza

1994 Honda Accord

1999 Ford F150

2003 Honda Accord

2009 Toyota Camry

86 Toyota Celica...my college car.  Loved that thing.  Wasn't super powerful at all, pretty weak actually.  Just was a comfortable ride that handled well.  Bonus that it was small enough people didn't want me to drive everywhere.

97 Honda Civic...just a commuter for about 7 years til we had our first child

04 Honda CRV...needed something bigger than the civic.  Been a reliable and safe car...plenty of room for the first kid and now with 2 it works as a 2nd car and is still going pretty well.  Handles well...but may be on her last legs as far as our ownership.

Thats pretty much it.  41 years old...I have never been big into cars or care that much.  As long as its reliable, roomy and comfortable enough to get me where I need to go, Im fine.

Wife had like an 82 VW rabbit in college...a 98 Buick Regal when she graduated...and now an 07 Honda Odyssey.

1977 Datsun Hatchback something rather:  I bought this car for $50 and put $20 of oil into it in 18 months.  This was my first car in Italy, the car I learned to drive manual, and the car that somehow ended up making me money in the end.  I had house speakers in this thing (I installed), they got stolen, and a hooker ended up getting them back for me because I let her in my apartment for some hot cocoa when I really didn't want them back.
Another thing about this car is the manual gearbox didn't like to be in 2nd gear, often it just refused. So upshifting wasnt a huge issue if you got the revs into the 6k in 1st, but downshifting was hell.

This car also would backfire sometimes, so awesome.

You guys have had a lot of cars

1995 Nissan 240 SE

1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP

2003 Infinit G35

2009 Audi S8

2016 Tesla Model S 75

Speaking of shifting, I had a Ford Fairlane automatic that would take 10 seconds to actually go in reverse. Made parallel parking all kinds of fun.

I didn't own these but I'm going to give them 'honorable mention's:

When I got my license, my parents owned 2 cars--a '77 Olds Cutlass (may be the only one ever ordered with manual transmission) and a '78 Plymouth Horizon.  Both had clutches and were like night and day to drive.  Because my dad wanted the Olds to have manual transmission, it came with a smaller engine, so it had no pep whatsoever.  The Horizon had a motorcycle-sized engine in it, but wasn't really meant for speed anyway.  However, that didn't stop me from drag racing a Firebird/Camaro in it once.  IIRC, I got it to about 50-55 when I put it in third gear.  The clutch cable broke on it twice and that was the end of it.  I thoroughly enjoyed driving it for that brief period, though.

'89 Chevy Cavalier Z 24

'95 Suzuki Sidekick

'99 Ford Taurus

'04 Ford Escape

'10 Ford Flex

'16 Lincoln Navigator

1983 Chevy Chevette - Like most Chevettes, this was a Fred Flintstone car with a nice whole in the floor of it.

1988 Pontiac Sunbird - Had a cool sunroof. That made me happy then.

Late 80s/Early 90s Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme - Hand-me-down from my Dad.

1996 Chevy Malibu - First car I bought after graduating college. Reliable. Steady.

2003 Saab 9-3 - That thing was in the shop CONSTANTLY.

2007 Cadillac CTS - Really good car.

2011 Chevy Cruze - Solid, cheap car.

2013 Cadillac ATS - Really enjoy it. Still currently driving.

2018 Tesla 3 - Put down the deposit a couple of months ago. Really looking forward to it.

1975 Oldsmobile Cutless Supreme (got it for a $1 from my grandmother who inherited it from a great aunt) - this was awesome
1982 Chevy Z28 - great car
1978 Ford Fairmont - complete piece of crap
1993 Nissan Sentra - got in approximately 5 car accidents in this car
1993? Chrysler Lebaron convertible
2000 Jeep Cherokee
2007 Honda Pilot

Have never owned a new car.  Closest is when I got my current car, 07 Honda Pilot, it only had like 7k miles on it but was a couple years old.

1966 Corvair Convertible Triple Blue - paint/top/interior  Turbo charged air cooled motor

1969 1/2 Dodge Super Bee 440 Six Pack - Hemi Orange, 4 spd.

Damn that's an awesome list

AMC Spirit - Dad bought it so my sister and I had a car.  Not sure of the year, had it for maybe 6 months and it started on fire parked on the street.

1984 Plymouth Reliant (1990-1999) - Was fixing brakes or exhaust problems every year.  Had a cracked manifold and another issue; started doing cost benefit analysis.  Junked it.

1997 Dodge Avenger (1999-2013) - Thought I could get another 5000 miles out of my belt.  Cost me the whole engine.  Wish I would have dropped the $2,500 on another engine even though KBB was like $1,800.  I had very few issues with it beyond user error.

2012 Mustang convertible

My rather unimpressive list...

1986 Pontiac 6000 (bought used...totaled it)

1993 Chevy Corsica (new - totaled it)

2001 Chevy Blazer (new - traded in)

2010 Toyota 4Runner (new - current vehicle)
This might be pound for pound the worse car I have ever been in. Not one redeeming feature.

88 Pontiac Sunbird - First car. Cheapest thing available.

98 Z24 Chevy Cavalier - Intro to leasing :X

96 Acura Intergra - Great deal from a family member. Drove the hell out of it for 5 years and sold it for what I paid.

06 VW Golf TDi - Needed something with great mileage for city/cross country driving

12 Grand Cherokee - Kids...

1980 Pinto -- My mom gave me this piece of #### when I got my license. It would randomly stall on the highway doing 70, which was scary. I wasn't aware cars required oil changes, which didn't help.

1989 Mustang -- Bought new when I graduated high school. Loved that car but it wasn't very well built and I wasn't a very responsible owner.

1998 Civic -- Such a blast to drive. Was a lease, and I was sad to give it back.

2002 Altima -- Bought new, the first year of the redesign. At the time it looked pretty sleek and futuristic. It was cool to drive but I never felt it was "me".

2002 Tacoma -- Bought used. I loved this truck. I'd wash and wax it by hand and sometimes stare out the window at it sitting in the driveway.

2008 Tacoma -- Bigger and more powerful than the '02 version. Fun to drive and reliable.

2011 Equinox -- My wife's daily vehicle which we also take on long trips. I was wary of buying a Chevy but it's been great.

2016 Impreza -- Basic budget commuter car but really a blast to drive. I went cheap because eventually we'll trade in the Equinox for something nicer, likely an Audi Q5. But I'm really impressed with the Impreza for what it is.

1987 Ford Mustang LX.  Underpowered POS that went all over the US with me.  Fun to drive up to the mountains.  Or with 4 300lb lineman in back.  Two Rockford 12", blacked out, dual Monza tips....:7/10

1966 Ford Mustang Convertible.  Bought in HS, spent hours working on.  Still own, just spent the summer upgrading.  Just showed her this weekend. Pulled so much tail....10/10

1965 Ford F150.  Rustbucket, but we filled the door panels with beer and ice on rugby trips.  Bought for $400, sold for $500 a year later. 5/10

1995 Harley Sportster.  I was too big on this, looked funny, but was a great small bike for SF.  Butch bought it 18 months later.  Was so broke out of college had to borrow $1k down payment from a gf (became ex real quick) who never got a ride on it.  Yes, I paid her back (#nocstu). 7/10

1997 Harley Roadking Classic. Spent a summer touring/camping the US on this with my now wife.  I loved this bike, rubber mounted engine, sold when 3rd son born.  I will get another someday soon.  Miss riding. 10/10

1989 Ford Probe.  POS.  Looked cool, drove like ####.  Underpowered.  Almost broke even when offloaded a year later to some poor lady. 3/10

1990 Jeep Cherokee.  Bought at police auction, could time the 0-60 with a sun dial, but off road was a beast.  Great for camping.  Kept for 200k 5/10

2002 Subaru WRX wagon.  LOVED this car, 200k+ miles, modded and raced this car to hell.  Part race car, part truck.  Tempted to get another.... 9/10

2012 Ford F150.  75k miles, lift kit, all modded & murdered out, Eccoboost chirps in third gear, tons of room in back for 3 kids and all their sports.  Tempted to get a Raptor but going to wait another year at least.  I hated Ford for years (wife had a 91 Tbird that they ####ed us over on a recalled part and engine exploded) but now I'm back with the Blue Oval.  Impressed by the quality of this truck.  My Dad got a Platinum 2 months after mine. 9/10

1989 Dodge Daytona ES - Bought this new as I was graduating from college. Black Cherry manual transmission hatchback. Nothing special about it except it was my first car.

1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo - Bought it used and liked it initially but ended up hating it. Someone hit me left rear at a stop light and skipped before I was able to get the plate.

2000 Audi A6 - Bought used with very low miles (the original owner turned it in after only one year). Manual with twin turbos. My favorite car but I really had it out with Audi at the end. Found out there was a recall for a leaking roll over valve on the gas tank for the 2001 and 2002 years. Did a little homework and found out the 2000 was the same tank, same parts and had the same issue. Recalls are based on the number of complaints put in and apparently the 2000 didn't reach that water mark. I told them "It's leaking gas..FIX IT." Nope. No dice. I put in complaints to all entities but could never get anywhere. Tried to patch it myself to no avail and repair cost was way too much for a car with 180k miles. Bottom line is loved the car but f**k Audi for screwing me over.

2016 Mazda 6 Touring - Bought new for $24.4. Good price considering it also has the sunroof and premium stereo package. Great gas mileage and solid car but boring. Automatic transmission 4 cylinder coming on the heels of a 6 cylinder twin turbo just doesn't cut it. I knew all this going in of course but wanted something reliable, good gas and that wouldn't break the bank. Mission accomplished.

That's it. 27 years and only four cars (I'm not counting cars my wife drives).

1990 Toyota Celica

1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder Convertible

1999 Honda CRV

2003 BMW 330i

2007 BMW 335i

2010 Mazda CX-9

2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray

1980 Toyota Corolla- This car taught me and seven of my siblings how to drive.  Dad had to bolt the shocks into the trunk when they rusted through at some point.  Car just wouldnt die.  Finally put a bullet into ti about '95-'96.  Was a goodtime car for a shared ride.

1979 Dodge Colt-  My first car purchase.  It drove well enough and was good on gas but I moved up after a few years.  Handed it off to my sisters.

1988 Nissan Sentra- My first all new vehicle.  I negotiated the first round but dad had to co-sign so when I went back with him in the evening he saved me another grand or so.  Who knew you don't need under carriage protection in Maryland?  Or official Nissan floor mats at a cost of $100?  Good learning experience as I was only 21 at the time.  Car was a good ride and greta at gas mileage but I was soon unemployed and it got repoe'd.

1991 VW Rabbit- Awesome handling, great gas mileage, 5 speed stick, ate the snow like it was a snack.  All around a really good car.  Loved this baby.

1998 Mercury Grand Marquis-  My pimp mobile when I was living in Baltimore.  Thing drove like it was flying on a cushion of air.  Trunk was big enough for six bodies and the back seat was so roomy I swear you could use a phone to call the backseat passengers.  Loved cruisin around in this bad boy but only in nicer weather.  This beast sucked ### in snow and wasnt much better in rain.

2001 Toyota Camry- Current vehicle.  Has 240,000 miles and still going.  About to give it up though as the body has more than a few dings and scrapes.  Drviers well enough but bewing in a small car in this day and age sucks, especially when stuck behind the tailpipe of the SUV out there.

1992 Dodge Caravan - Junker my parents gave me had it about 2 years before I sold it with 150K miles (a ton for a 90s Dodge) definitely was on its last legs when I got rid of it.  Seemed to have a new issue monthly.

1996 Toyota Camry - Bought used in 2001 and the engine just blew over labor day weekend 2016.  Really treated me well.  Great car.  Only did routine maintenance over the 15 years I had it.

1993 Chevy Blazer - Bought as my mountain car in 2014 now my daily driver since the Camry died.  Hoping to get 2 years out of it before I upgrade.

Thinking my next car will probably be from the 21st century.

89 Mitsubishi Precis

87 Nissan Maxima

92 Dodge Spirit

I've been driving company cars for the last 10 years.  I'll do company lease cars for my wife and kids.

I probably won't own another car in my life.

1978 Buick Century - owned by parents, but I was main driver

1984 Nissan Sentra - also owned by parents, but I was main driver

1992 Nissan 240SX - first car out of school that I bought.  Sucked in snow/ice, but pretty good otherwise.

1998 Honda Civic

2008 Nissan Altima

Not a car guy.  Boring AF.

My dad was a mechanic and I'd get a new (different) car every year or so in HS/College (10 cars through HS/College)- started driving when I was 15.

1976 Datsun 210

1977 Datsun 210

1980 Datsun Truck

1981 Datsun 240SX

1982 Toyota Supra (hatchback used well)

1983 Nissan Stanza

1984 Datsun/Nissan Maxima

1985 Nissan Maxima

1986 Nissan Sentra

1988 Nissan Hardbody Truck

*1995 Nissan Maxima (first new car)

1998 Infiniti Q45

*2000 Dodge Truck

2002 Nissan Maxima

*2004 Acura MDX

*2008 Jeep Wrangler 4-door

2008 Nissan Titan

2011 Jeep Wrangler 2-door

Have been driving for 32 years and have had 18 different "main" driving cars.  (not counting wife's cars) And I think I've forgotten a couple in HS.

1991 Honda Civic--Bought used and parked on the street. Reliable car for tooting around the city before kids.

2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee--wife mainly used it and was the vehicle we had when our daughter was born in 2001

2000 Mercedes Benz S430--I bought it new and will never make that mistake again with a high priced vehicle (possible exception listed below).  Great car and got me hooked on the brand.

2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee--to replace the first one and also the car we took our son home from the hospital in when he was born in 2005.

2003 Mercedes Benz S600--purchased used with low mileage for less than half of original sticker.  Sleek and fast.

2009 Acura MDX--wife needed an SUV with a third row of seats to move all the kids and friends around town.  Bought new and has generally been reliable.  Will be replaced in the next year or so.

2006 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti--Purchased used still under factory warranty with about 8,500 miles.  Took it to the dealership and had both headlights replaced under warranty--service rep said bill would have been ~10k if warranty had not been active.  Still own it and love it.  Roughly 23k miles now.  Don't drive it in the winter even though the manual has instructions for driving in the snow.

2009 Ford Expedition--purchased for use at our house in Park City. Nothing fancy but effective for moving people and skis around.

2007 Mercedes Benz S65 RennTech Stage 2--top of the line sedan with 696 horsepower.  Purchased used with 18k miles near the end of factory warranty for less than half of the original purchaser's cost.  Fantastic car.  I have purchased two extended warranties and it's still under coverage.

2018/9 Ferrari F12 replacement--I will be one of the first people in Chicago to get the car that replaces the F12.  I believe it will be announced at the Geneva auto show in March 2017 and will be delivered about a year later.  I'm not 100% sure that I will go through with this because all in, the car will probably be ~$500k.

1980 Nissan Sentra From Parents(sold to friend)

1986 Mercury Sable From Parents (died)

1987 Buick Skyhawk, bought from Family member(Terrible car, traded in for Corolla)

*2000 Toyota Rav4, first New car(traded in for Odyssey)

*2005 Honda Odyssey, outgrew the Rav kid #3(still own)

2000 Honda Civic, Buddy sold to me for a great deal, around 80K miles on it(Traded in for Impreza)

2009 Subaru Impreza, bought used 75K miles(still own)

You could have said your first commuter vehicle was the Montgolfier Brothers' balloon and you rode a crawling Salma Hayek for a year and we still wouldnt have noticed the post after chet's

1984 ford bronco II - my high school wheels, loved this thing.

1995 ford escort - technically my wife's car before we got married, she bought it used from my sister while we were dating.  I taught then-gf to drive a stick with it, which is how I knew she was marriage material.

1997 ford ranger - leased my last 2 years in college, $99/month.  Good cheap truck, wish I would have bought but that was a cheap rate.

1999 Honda civic - easily my best car, I think I'll get another when my oldest son turns 16 and I let him use my current wheels.

2003 Pontiac Grand am - not bad not great, wouldn't buy again.

2005 dodge grand caravan - wife's vehicle, sucked.  Worst vehicle we've owned, wife wanted a minI van and she liked the stow and go seats.

2007 Toyota highlander - my current wheels. Solid, does everything I need, over 136k miles and going strong.  Seats 7, which comes in handy at times, and I can fit my bike inside which is more useful.

2010 Honda Odyssey - wife's current wheels, getting close to 100k.  Hoping it lasts another 5 years.

1979 Honda Civic hatchback.  This is car I learned to drive in summers of '82-84.

1985 Nissan Sentra hatchback.  My first and only new car.  (1985-1991).

1988 Ford Ranger 4x4.  Needed a truck for landscaping work (1991-1995).

1990 Subaru Loyale wagon.  Wife's car that she brought into the marriage. (1993-2002)

1994 Subaru Legacy wagon (severely hail damaged).  1st baby arrives - time for truck to go in favor of family friendly vehicle and desk job (1995-2010).

1996 Ford Explorer.  Hand me down from the in-laws.  Became my kids' car in high school and still gets used although I won't drive it more than 50 miles from home because it's so beat up (2002-present).

2008 Subaru Outback.  Newer car for wife.  Took her 6 months to figure out what she wanted and then another 6 months to find the right car at the right price.  I will never go through that process with her again - We have decided that we will go it alone when it comes to our vehicles. (2010-present)

1995 Ford F150.  I wanted an old truck to make dump runs, haul bikes and gear, go camping, and get to work on days when I couldn't ride my bike. (2011-present).  I bought a slide-in camper last spring and quickly became aware of the old truck's limitations (poor mileage, small gas tank, noisy and rough ride, no cruise, sporadic A/C, etc.).  It's fine for now, but I am next in line for a new truck as soon as I make the last payment for son #1s college next winter.  I'm ready for some comfort and reliability and have started looking at 2013-15 F150s.

1987 Buick Skylark - bought used from my great-uncle (had until engine died around 1998).

1998 Saturn SC2 - didn't get this until a few years after the other car died; bought used.

*2007 Mazda6 - still have this one. I have had lots of problems with it, even though I bought it new and it only has around 60k on it now.  Probably going to replace soon.

*2010 Nissan Murano SL - still have this one, and holding up well.

...While it is a sad list, it has been nice to not have any car payments for the past five years.  Sadness will probably be amplified when the Mazda gets replaced because my wife wants a minivan with a sliding door now that we have a kid, and considering a second kid in another year or two.

83 Oldsmobie Cutlass Ciera (hand me down)

88 Mazda 323 (paid $1800 of my own money for it when I was 17)

2001 Toyota Echo (replaced the Mazda, still own it with 300K miles)

1995 Mazda B2300 pick-up (bought it with 500K miles on it in 2010, just gave it to a buddy to use a farm truck a few months ago)

1998 Chrysler Town & Country (bought it a year ago with 170K)

Is there a prize for having the most anti-Chet list?

1970 Jeep Wagoneer - parents car. drove it when I was 16.

Cool reading through these lists, with some great cars. Adding my own relatively short list:

1980 Subaru SU Hatchback, metallic pea green (not the official color), hand-me-down in 1988 from my aunt who drove it into the ground. Loved that car, had a rusted out hole in the front passenger side perfectly suited for getting rid of trash. Drove like a go-cart, still remember somehow taking on part-time delivery work driving all around Toronto in winter snowstorms with it's sketch front wheel drive, crank handle windows, and no power steering. Fun fact, eventually traded it in at a dealer, the car was subsequently stolen from the lot and used in a bank robbery. Worst get away car choice ever.

1997 Ford Explorer (2nd Gen), black. Still based on Ford's truck platform, the car drove like a pickup but was a dream and put well over 150K on it..

1994 Toyota Camry V30, gold. Needed a second car and bought it used off relatives. POS but fit the bill getting from A to B.

2010 Toyota Highlander, Limited Hybird, black. Replacement car for the Explorer. Over 100K already as the family car, but running perfectly.

2012 Audi A7 Prestige, Phantom Black. Replacement for the Camry. Can't tell you how much I love driving this car. Only drawback is the four seats (which changed to 5 in later models), but with a wife and two kids, hasn't ever been an issue.

Glad to see such long lists, makes me feel not so bad about the fleet I've owned.

Chronologically:

1. 1977 Ford LTD('83-86)-birthday present middle of my junior year of HS. It was the greatest tank one could ask for.  Had it until it was totaled by a similar sized tank when I was in college.
My Grandparents had 23 grandkids and we could all fit in their 1977 Ford LTD Station-wagon.  :lmao:

How dare you call yourself Doctor Detroit with all those foreign jobs on the list ;)
I looked at a Ford Edge when I bought my CRV but it was too expensive once you started adding even a few options.  The thing about Honda is they make cars that come in three trim levels or so, I hate a model that has 20 different configurations.  They just keep adding on options until you are $10k over what you intended to spend, I'm not the guy who plays that game.

But I do like Fords, not a fan of GM especially Chevy products.

1990 Buick century (hand me down)

1998 Chevy cavalier z24 5 speed.  Enjoyed this car in college. Sure got beat up tho between a wreck and some bespoke basspole jumping on the hood to exact his revenge for me finger blasting his eventual fiance and ejaculating on her breasts.

2004 Chevy trailblazer fantastic car. Got me from single to now two kids, still going strong.

2007 accord.  Bought for wife, unbelievably reliable.

*1969 Austin Healy sprite.  Don't technically own, rebuilt with dad, can drive when I want.  Fun car.
