I final look in the rearview mirror at the pre-season games played over the last two weeks. This is my second installment and last of the pre-season.
QB’s
1. Has Peyton Manning really played better than Brady or McNabb in the preseason? I’d much rather have them in the 4th or 5th round than him in the first. I still think McNabb has a chip on his shoulder and is in for a huge year.
2. What a debut for Carson Palmer. He is definitely back, he’ll be too expensive on draft day for sure now.
3. Warner has looked great in the preseason and will be a definite top 10 guy this year. He is a steal in the 7th round or later.
4. Eli Manning will not live up to the lofty expectations of his fantasy owners.
5. Have you noticed how inaccurate Leftwich is when he throws the ball. He never seams to hit his receivers in stride or in the chest. I’m just not sold on him. Thus, making any Jax WR a big question mark, including Matt Jones. I won’t, didn’t take a chance on any of them.
6. I disagree that Favre looked bad in his last game. He made several passes that hit his receivers right in the hands and they either missed or ricochet off into the defenders. He throws the ball hard, that causes many more deflected passes than the average QB. He will be money in the 10th round. Helping Driver along the way.
7. Brees still looks very rusty in NO. Hope he comes out of it. Maybe the Chargers knew something we didn’t. I still like him, just not the way he is playing now.
8. Has anyone looked as bad as Washington and Brunnell so far?
9. If you put Kitna’s head on McCown’s body you would have a good QB. In the long run McCown wins out. He can get smarter, Kitna will never have his arm.
10. Brad Johnson has out played many QB’s that will be drafted way ahead of him.
11. Wake up Billy Volek, your in the twilight zone!
RB’s
1. If your drafting in the top 3, take 2 WR’s in the 2nd and 3rd and try to pick 3 of these guys to go with your stud RB – Foster, Gore, A. Green, C. Brown, Rhodes. They’ll all be there in round 4 or later, and all are way under the radar. Do they have any more question marks around them than R. Brown, McGahee, C. Taylor, KJ, JJ……..I don’t think so.
2. I’m not sold on R. Brown……..just something in my gut about him.
3. Rudi is probably the REAL #4 RB. He is the safest pick after the top 3.
4. Of the top 3, Alexander has the least question marks.
5. Willie Parker is in the top 10. He will get the goal line work now, way under rated.
6. Mark my words, Chris Brown’s name will be on the roster of a lot of Championship fantasy teams this year.
7. D. Foster gets no respect. He is on a good team. He has a good passing attack to open up the run. The thorn in his side that was Stephen Davis is long gone. He has paid his dues with Coach Fox, waiting with respect for his chance. He will be the man in Carolina this year. Fox is big on veterans that pay their dues. He’ll treat Williams just like he treated Foster when Davis was the man.
8. If you have to pick up Barlow as a starting RB in your league, you’ve already lost!
9. If your drafting at the corners, go for the combo’s in the mid/late rounds:
Bell/Bell, Foster/Williams, Dillon/Maroney, Jones/Benson, Lundy/Morency.
