It makes no sense what so ever that they don't want Favre back, but also don't want him to play for Minnesota, or whoever. They are in for a rude awakening. I can't wait to see McCarthy shrugging his shoulders after a few loses. "wasn't my idea"

Just what we needed. Another Rodgers..... instantly turned to Favre thread.
They drafted Bronham for this reason. I expect to see Brohnam starting at least last few weeks. If not mid season when the Pack falls 5 games behind Minny! Rodgers just doesn;t look like a NFL QB. Only question I have will Brohnam get job on merit or Injury. My guess a little of both!

Rodgers was a dominant force in college when he was able to find his rhythm. He wasn't always consistent, but when he was in the zone he was as good as anyone I've seen. The Packers are not stupid. The fact that they're willing to take a stand for Rodgers tells me they have some faith in his ability to run their team. That's more meaningful to me than speculation from pundits who have never seen Rodgers play more than once or twice.
That doesn't mean Rodgers is a lock for success. No QB prospect is. Three years from now the majority of today's young guns like Flacco, Russell, Edwards, Campbell, Quinn, Ryan, and Kolb will have flamed out just like Carr, Harrington, Losman, and Ramsey. But Rodgers was a top shelf prospect. He's a smart guy and he's paid his dues. Now he'll get a chance to prove that he can be an effective NFL starter. I'm not going to assume failure until he actually fails.

As a Packer fan following this "saga" closely, he has looked TERRIBLE in practice. 7-20 84 yards and INT in the intrasquad scrimmage. 3 INTS yesterday's practice. Granted this thing is probably weighing on his mind, but if he was under pressure before, he ain't seen nothin' yet!! This is a bad situation all around. Both sides have blame in it.

Rodgers was as good as anyone you had ever seen? Really? I'm pretty sure one of, if not the biggest reason, he slipped in the draft was concerns that he is simply a system QB. The product of Jeff Tedfords system which has produced a fantastic string of college QB's who all turned out to be miserable NFL QB's and who almost all were more physically gifted than Rodgers. That does not mean Rodgers is doomed to be terrible as well but it does mean I take what he did in college with a grain of salt.I don't think you can read into this that the Pack are taking a stand because they have faith in his ability. Doing so discounts the fact ego's are involved. Mcarthy wants to make this his team, not Farves team. Thompson wants to see his first round investment pay off. That's the reason they pushed Favre out IMO.

He's not doing this alone. He is surrounded by a good team with receivers that fit his short passing style. He also has a good defense and plays in a weak division.

i think Rogers will be a good, competant QB. He's got a lot of talent around him and he's been studying this system for 3 years. He'll do well enough with his reads and finding the open guy. I see a problem when the opposing defense has the GB offense figured out and Rogers and the rest of the team have to get away from their comfort zone to compete. This is when the comparisons will start to come out. And it's not like Favre was this Superman of improvising ... for as many times as he's made incredible throws, he's made equally stupid throws and/or fumbled at the worst possible moments. But people will tend to remember the good stuff and not so much of the bad.
3 years downn the road, i see Rogers hanging around that Top 10-15 area .... doing some things very well, but not that superstar QB the Pack hoped he'd develop into.

When he got hot, he was unstoppable. So yes, when he was in the zone he was as good as anyone I've seen.

Rodgers showed the potential to take over games. He has the ability to get in a rhythm and move the ball effortlessly. In that regard he reminds me of Tom Brady. Whether or not it will translate to the NFL remains to be seen, but when he was at his best he was dominant. I don't think that's irrelevant. I've seen a lot of college QBs play and few of them were able to generate that aura of invincibility, even in their best moments.
