A look back seven years later at the 2000 draft (1 Viewer)

A Draft preview in SPORT magazine picked the top ten "biggest college stars" to be selected in the upcoming 2000 draft and mentioned 3 sets of others...

they listed these in ABC order (chickens hehe) and this wasn't fantasy based, just real football potential

TOP TEN

Shaun Alexander - "The guys more all-purpose than baking soda" ... "overlooking Alexander because of his average sighting at the Combine would be short-sighted"..."forge a career on 8 to 10-yard bursts" (GOTTA GIVE EM CREDIT HERE)

LaVar Arrington - "of all draft-eligible players, Arrington's stardom appears to be the most inevitable" (OUCH- they missed on this one but they did provide a warning that he and JoePa didn't get along with JoePa commenting he wasn't even the best LB on his team - and that LaVar's lack of discipline is a word of warning and "what beats people on this level are mistakes"

Ron Dayne - "question if Dayne's 4.65 speed will ever allow him to turn the corner in the NFL"..."he may have the Heisman trophy but not 'the benefit of the doubt'"...He had ONE regular season reception..."don't expect Jerome Bettis" (SEEMS THEY HAD SAME DOUBTS AS MOST EVERYONE ELSE)

Sebastian Janikowski - they just talked mainly about his partying problems and added that he would be a good kickoff guy and could kick long FGs

Tee Martin - "someone will overdraft him" ... "accuracy problems" ... "four years away from realizing his throwing talent" (HIT ON THIS ONE TOO)

Corey Moore - "DL who ran a 4.38" (i forgot that he was that fast) ... they mentioned that he might be a dreaded tweener between DL and LB .. special teams asset but not dominant

Chad Pennington - ""is he going to be a superstar? Probably not, but alot of teams can use a guy that will come in and make few errors" ... they mentioned the smarts and the weeak arm

Chris Redman - "His numbers are skewed, I've seen some lackluster performances for Redman" ... "Got alot of snaps aganst Gridiron gimmes"..."Lack of excellence in big games is a concern"

JR Redmond - "highlight waiting to happen"..."suspect durability"...failed to gain 100 yards six times"..."return-man and third down option"

Peter Warrick - "threat to go distance every time"...WR come taller and faster than Warrick, but rarely better" (OUCH) ... 'For all his ability to make the big play, sometimes he forgets to make the routine one"..."only thing between Warrick and the Pro Bowl is hs concentration level" (OK, THEY MISSED THIS ONE)
