Name the two rookies who surpassed 2000 all-purpose yards in the same season for the same team.

I'm assuming all-purpose doesn't include passing.

I'm assuming this has been done only once, but I could be wrong.

Edgerrin James (2139 all purpose yards) and Hunter Smith (2467 all purpose yards)--> Colts draft class of 1999
According to wiki, all purpose yards do not include yards punting."All-purpose yards are those gained by an offensive player from scrimmage, viz., those gained by a player's rushing or receiving a pass; a defensive player by return of interception; or by any player by return of punt, kickoff, or recovered fumble."

Only two rookies --- Edgerrin James and Eric Dickerson --- have recorded 2,000 or more rushing + receiving yards. Terrence Wilkins, also a rookie for the Colts in 1999, recorded a bit over 2,000 total receiving + kick return + punt return yards.

A winner!Several other rookies have had 2000+ all purpose yard seasons, but James & Dickerson are the only to gain 2000+ yards from scrimmage.I still think that Gayle Sayers season of over 2000+ all purpose yards was most impressive, especially since he had 22 TDs (plus 1 passing) and did it in the 14 game season. However, the record for most all purpose yards in rookie season is none of the above.

Nice. :goodposting: For some reason the SITE that I was using didnt register much of Wilkins' kickoff return stats and put him at under 1000 all purpose yards. :hot:
