As Kerry Collins retires memories of him will soon fade. It is quite an accomplishment just to become a NFL QB, but It's another to become an NFL QB that throws for 40,000 yards.Only 10 other QB's in history have accomplished that feat.Seems like a shame.
Meh, Vinny Testaverde part 2although I would never have guessed 40k for Kerry.Looking at the all time list, what gets me as crazy is that at #17 is Drew Brees, who will probably hit the 40k yard mark sometime in early 2012 at the age of 32.
Kerry Collins quit on his team midway through a season. I don't care how many yards he accumulated, he should never be honored in any way. He earned more money playing football than 99%+ of Americans will earn in their lifetimes. That is enough of a benefit for him to gain given his past.

Kerry Collins' greatest skill was conning teams into giving him the opportunity to accumulate that many yards while maintaining a 73.9 career passer rating (with a 'high' of 85.4)
Jeff Garcia belongs in the hall of the quietly productive. He only ended up with 25k passing yards instead of 40k, but he had several very good seasons in SF, Philly, and Tampa, made 4 Pro Bowls, and has the 9th best career passer rating (87.5) in NFL history (min 2,500 passing attempts).
