Aaron Rodgers has a sore shoulder (1 Viewer)

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP)—Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy says quarterback Aaron Rodgers’(notes) shoulder is sore after he was hit during Sunday’s NFC championship game victory over the Chicago Bears.

McCarthy didn’t seem overly concerned Monday, saying every player has bumps and bruises at this point in the season.

The Packers quarterback appeared to take a shot on his right shoulder from Bears defensive back Danieal Manning(notes) during his 1-yard touchdown run in the first quarter of Sunday’s game.

And McCarthy says Rodgers wasn’t affected by what appeared to be a helmet-to-helmet hit by Bears defensive lineman Julius Peppers(notes) later in the game. Rodgers has had two concussions this season.
LOL. This is the one bit of news I didn't want to hear when making an analysis of a Packers-Steelers Super Bowl. Aaron Rodgers is key to the entire outcome of the game. If this injury is worse than they are letting on, and he plays through it anyway, he's effectiveness may be seriously compromised and the Steelers may roll. On the other hand, if the injury is not that bad at all, and he's near 100%, then you have to like the Packers a lot more.I wouldn't bet on this game at ALL now. Sit this one out.

The problem is we don't know anything. I've lost count of the number of times some player "gutted through an injury" and it turns out he should never have been out on the field to begin with, and then after the game the guy has major surgery. This could be the reason his effectiveness dropped later in the game vs the Bears.

There is no problem at this point. As McCarthy said "every player has bumps and bruises at this point in the season". Rodgers has time to rest and it will be an issue if he isn't practicing next week. Until then, don't sweat the small stuff.

Coaches lie with regards to injuries all the time.

Well since you aren't going to analyze the game anymore due to this news it will be nice to not see you making any posts about it. :goodposting:

No kidding. I guess I can call off my search for tickets now that this news of a bruise has broken.

This happened right in front of me and I knew he was dinged when he got up and started walking back to the sideline. But it also happened at like the 11:00 mark in the first quarter and he never showed any ill effects of it the rest of the game. It's a non story

I was wondering if he got another concussion. That was a big hit by Peppers.

Pouncey said he was going to be fine. But high ankle sprains are tough. Two weeks, he might be able to go IMO. I sure hope he can, GB has a good front 7, and Mike knows how to get to the second level like a 10 year vet.
