About to cut Welker for Blelker (the Bess-Welker) (1 Viewer)

Can't seem to get anything in a trade for Welker so I'm about to cut him in favor of the Blelker. Davone Bess is the new Welker it seems this year and my gut is telling me that this trend is here to stay now that Moss is gone and the field has compressed for the Pats.

Am I crazy?

Yes. You are crazy.

I really like Bess. Is there no one else you could cut for him?
That's my question too. I'd be real reluctant to cut Welker even though Moss' departure has predictably made life much more difficult for him. That said, Bess is legit. I don't think anyone should be surprised if he outperforms Welker the rest of the season or becomes a Top 20-25 WR in all scoring formats.

I don't think it's that crazy at all, but why not keep both?

As strange as it sounds, the situation for Bess looks more favorable than it does for Welker in terms of potential production - fewer mouths to feed, a stud WR in Marshall that takes away coverage (which Welker lost with Moss).

One other thing to note is that Bess just signed nice contract, making him the highest paid slot receiver in the business - even more than Welker. Not that $ is going to decide who outperforms whom, but it does show what the Dolphins think of Bess.

In my PPR:

Welker and Bess are almost equal....

Welker ranked #32 WR...37 Targets...67 pts. (Playoffs = @CHI/GNB/@BUF).

Bess ranked #26...32 Targets...72 pts. (Playoffs = @NYJ/BUF/DET).

Both have had their Byes...Maybe an edge to Bess for playoff weeks. What's telling to me is the three week trend, which shows

50 pts. for Bess and Only 25 for Welker, which of course corresponds to the departure of Moss. I haven't had any luck trading Welker either. Been trying since Moss left. Best offer was S. Greene...May take this as opposed to a straight drop.

Good luck...

Only other cut options from my perspective on the team are Fitz and Amendola. We reward for returns so Amendola's been pretty solid, even the last few weeks. Hard to give up that guy considering his weekly floor is around 10, with some upside like when he scored a TD last week. And Fitz. Can't give up the dream there although really he's been only a tad better than WW lately.Trust me, this isn't an easy decision. And I will most certainly be ridiculed by my league mates, even though they won't even give me a bag of chips for Welker right now.Hard to believe I'm actually valuing Danny Amendola and Davone Bess more than Wes Welker, but Moss' departure has really f'd with my head when I watch the Pats.
