Add/Drop and Waiver Wire wonderment thread: Do you still own Domingo Santana? (2 Viewers)

Jarrod Dyson should probably be more owned than he is (only 35% in CBS).

Getting regular playing time vs. righties and has yet to strike out in 34 PAs for some reason. He's had three 30+ SB seasons just as a backup, so he could put up some big steal numbers with this much PT.

Cut bait on Pineda. He seems like he's new captain of the Ricky Nolasco All Star team for SP that under-perform their peripherals. Oddly enough, Ricky Nolasco seems to be making a bid to get himself cut from the Ricky Nolasco all-star team.

What waiver SP are you guys buying?

Despite keeping Max, Arrieta, and Carrasco, my pitching is in shambles (Max sucking, along with some  dumpster fire streaming starts has put me in quite a hole). Tanaka and Hendricks doing as well or better than expected so far. Also have Berrios and Glasnow.

My waiver SP du jour are currently Eovaldi and Hellickson (ERA is going to get even worse when Eovaldi ####s the bed in BOS today). I kinda believe a little. Also got my eye on Jhoulys, Rubby, Graveman, and Tillman (though I can just never convince myself to grab an Orioles pitcher).  And please tell me this Nolasco stuff isn't real. If he shuts down DET today, I might not be able to help myself.

Anybody believe in any of these schmoes?

Eovaldi is the only one you mentioned that interests me, but I much prefer him in h2h. He's so close to being great, but his FB just doesn't move.

I have been considering hill, Pomeranz or Roark for sp.

or maybe roll the dice on berrios.  I am sick of Tillman, eovaldi and rubby from the past few years.

So, anybody buying Hellickson? I've never had any interest him at all, even back when he was good (as a 6 K/9 guy). But if there's anything real about his early K-rate this year, I'm interested. Who knows if it's real, but he's SwSt% is up a tick and his zone contact % is way down (top 10 in league).

All that's pretty much true of Tillman at the moment too (though Tillman's SwSt% has really jumped). I'm usually more inclined to lean towards an NL East guy over an Oriole though.

Anyone taking a flier on Jon Gray? Been terrible in his two starts this year, both at home though. Two start pitcher this week and gets @ SD, and @ SF

Is A-Rod worth owning in a 12 team roto league?
I'm holding in one roto league(not playing him much yet though). He's starting to heat up, power still seems to be there. I'm waiting on some slow starters until the weather warms up a little, A-Rod being one.

JD Martinez playing like he's ingesting a few too many JDs on these fine, spring evenings of late. If you currently have shares of this bum, just know that I'm on the verge of dropping him, which means he's on the verge of breaking out of his slump. That is all.

4 team league?

From the sounds of it, Guyer is about to finally take Jennings' playing time. 12 homer power and 20 steals speed.

He won't be playing the OF so no. I never did understand why they didn't just give him 1B this offseason.
My bad, should have been more clear.  If Jennings is getting knocked down the totem pole might that mean more time for Dickerson in the field?  If so, that'd free up more AB's at DH.  Short term I'm guessing that has no impact on Shaffer, probably just play Pearce more, but once whenever the estimated super two date passes there'd be a spot for him even if LoMo is still playing for who knows what reason.

Revere is off the DL today... Shaw, Segura, Will Myers or Starlin Castro? I think in ESPN leagues you don't necesarily have to activate off the DL, though, am I right?

I think they are too defensively-centered to put Dickerson out there. More than likely it eventually leads to Mahtook getting the call.

Dietrich could have regained his 2B eligibility again by Monday (10 game leagues). He could be a little Dan Murphy-ish. Maybe even showing signs of a little breakout if the improved plate discipline so far is for real.

Richards going down hurts a bit. Anyone have flyers that might get the call in a month or two. I picked up Ervin Santana as a replacement but im hurting at SP

Eduardo Rodriguez should be off the DL late next week, if he's out there.

Rubby De La Rosa still has trouble with HRs, but he is missing more bats than ever before at the major-league level.  Much higher upside than Santana.

With all the bombs my spot starters have dropped on me, I pulled a George Costanza today, throwing Jon Gray out there knowing he'd get bombed. It worked. Watching the game now. His stuff is pretty filthy, and he's getting a ton of ground balls. That catcher's mitt does go sailing over the heart of the plate pretty regularly though.

this has certainly been a game for people who don't like offense.

gearrin looks like a serial killer.

I guess we'll see how he plays in Coors in the long run, but he could be worth holding at least for the road starts in SF, SD and LA (among others) for now.

I'll hold for a little while. His 24.4% K%-BB% is pretty sick (would be 5th in the league if he had enough innings to qualify). Velocity is up. Groundballs are up. Swinging strike rate is solid. Things certainly seemed to be pointed in a positive direction.

Yesterday was a road start, but SF is a really nice lineup that's been pounding people this year. From what I remember, they really only got 2 good swings on him. Pretty monumental start for a guy that, prior to yesterday, had only made it to the 3rd inning without giving up a run once (in 13 starts).

Not that I want any part of the next start against the Mets in Coors, but I'll hold to see what he's got cookin'.

Estrada or Steven Wright?
I hate putting any trust into knuckleballer's, but 2016 may be to Wright what 2012 was to Dickey.  If he's still out there I'd kick some tires and see if it maintains.  Last night was my first watch and granted it was against a struggling offense, but that was an impressive performance.
