Add/Drop and Waiver Wire wonderment thread: Do you still own Domingo Santana? (1 Viewer)

Just dropped Timmah for Taillon. Five minutes later, the word comes out that he's close to signing with the Angels.

Oh well. No looking back.
Better to be a year early on a guy than 5 years too late.

Berrios just raised my season era and whip by .20. Think I've seen enough. Tyler Duffey time it is
It's been a ####ty, ####ty day. I'm finishing it off by forcing myself to watch the first inning of this ####### game. Did nobody tell this kid you don't groove a fastball to Kinsler on the first pitch of the game?

Bad as it is so far (2 runs, 2 outs, 2 on, 30 pitches in, about to really implode), Berrios has already destroyed 2 DET bats. Miggy whiffed on a curveball and flung the bat way into the stands, and he sawed Maybin off with a 2-seamer on the hands.

Excuse me while I go duck behind the couch now......

The plan to leave Trevor May in the lineup to rack up strikeouts and scoreless innings on the way to stealing the job from Jepsen was going swimmingly until 3 days ago.

What are people doing with Pineda and Ventura in redrafts?  Just sitting them?  I dropped Ventura in a 14 team league where I have crazy good pitching, and I just picked up Pineda in a dynasty because my team is terrible and I can wait.  Pineda struck out 9 and allowed 9 hits and a walk in 5 innings tonight, Ventura who does have an encouraging OAV, is still plagued by walks and the XTra baseHIT with runners on.  Because I started both in Dynasty tonight, here is there combined line:

10.2 INN, 16 HA, 2 BBI, 14 K, 9 ER, 7.594 ERA, 1.688 WHIP, W

I'm holding both for at least the rest of the year in dynasty, but my hopes Ventura could be a #2 fantasy starter are fading.  I hate pitchers though, and rarely have any patience.  With a staff of Cobb, Wheeler, McCullers, Joe Ross, Fulmer, Norris, Duffey, Matz, Giolito, De Leon, Holmes, and Strickland I really can't be picky.  I think Pineda can turn it around, but man what a :tfp: so far.

Tigers' J.D. Martinez: Homers for third straight game

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

(4 hrs ago) Martinez hit his eighth home run, a solo shot, as part of a 2-for-4 game in Tuesday's win over the Twins.

Martinez now has homers in three straight games and five blasts in his past nine games. After a slow start, Martinez has totally righted the ship and is now on pace for 33 home runs. In 281 games over the past two seasons, Martinez hammered 61 home runs, a 35-homer pace per 162 games, so Martinez has picked up this season right where he left off.

I would hold Pineda, but I hang on to the "periphs are still good" dream longer than most.  has sustained >10 K/9 for over 40 IP this year, velocity is actually up, has 3 pitches.  he's just giving up a ####ton of HRs.  if his HR/FB rate stays above 20 this year over 150+ IP, I will post a vine of myself eating a hat.

B/R's Biggest disappointments of the 1st quarter of the season...

7 - Jason Heyward

6 - Sonny Gray

5 - Justin Upton

4 - Carlos Gomez

3 - Adam Wainwright

2 - Dallas Keuchel

1 - Prince Fielder

Trade help. My team needs SP and closer help. I'm loaded on offense.

I offered a guy JD Martinez, Cueto, Colome for Kershaw. He didn't reject it. He countered with with Harvey, Kimbrel, Tex for my Cueto,  Fowler, and Colome.

Colome is gonna be the set-up man when Box comes back next week.  Not a terrific trade but I'd probable do it since you get Kimbrel and there is a good chance Harvey is at least as good as Cueto the rest of the year.

It's fine offer, though it really depends on how much you might need Fowler. Harvey-Cueto is pretty much equal.. The downgrade from Tex to Fowler is probably equal to the downgrade from Kimbrel to Colome (and I'm really not convinced Colome loses that job for sure).

I'd do it, but not feel great about (you really need to not need Fowler).

And yes he rejected you. You ain't gettin' Kershaw.

tampa manager said Box is the closer.  Now whether he holds it is another story, but Colome loses the job until Box proves he can't handle it.  Let's hope that never happens since I'm heavily invested in Box.

I accepted it  I value the peace of mind of not needing to chase saves as much

I have Trout, Harper, JD, Fowler, Grichuk, and Span so I think I can handle the loss

Box was piss awful last year. Hopefully he's turned it around but I think Colome is flat out better. Box will get a chance to get saves when he comes back though.

In my H2H points league I just traded...

Keuchel/Votto/Y. Thomas

for

CarGo/Freeman/Wacha

My thoughts are that I'm getting more proven/steady players in CarGo and Freeman. Also, OF is a premium in our league since each team starts 5.   I don't trust Keuchel or Votto at all after their starts and I'm fine selling low.  Go ahead and rip me a new one if you don't like it.  I realize I'm selling pretty low on Keuchel but from what I can tell he and Wacha aren't that far apart this year.  I really like Wacha's Ks.

(6 hrs ago) Wainwright (4-3) shut the Rockies out over 6.2 innings in Wednesday's win. He allowed just six hits and a walk while striking out five.

Now that's more like the Wainwright fantasy owners have come to know and love. After he'd allowed at least three runs in each of his first eight starts, this was a breath of fresh air for the veteran righty and his embattled fantasy owners -- his longest and finest start of the season, it came against a Colorado offense that's no slouch even away from Coors Field. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Wainwright dropped his arm angle, which helped him get his signature curveball back on track. "I don't know if 'He's back' is the right thing to say," Wainwright said following this start. "But I'm dangerous. I'm dangerous again." We'll see if he can indeed carry this forward when he next starts Monday against the Cubs.

If this is the case, why aren't they just sticking with Colome?  He's obviously comfortable in the role

I'm not convinced they will. They also said up until early May that Erasmo was heading back to the rotation soon and now he's a permanent member of the pen. But who knows, they may hand it to him.

It seems about even to me, but you probably have better upside.  If Cargo stays healthy, he is probably the most valuable of everyone and Tomas is the least.  I do love Keuchel, but I am getting a little nervous with him.  Not sure what you mean about Wacha's Ks, though.  It seems like he might have more potential, but Keuchel had a better K/9 last year and is equal this year.
