Add/Drop and Waiver Wire wonderment thread: Do you still own Domingo Santana? (2 Viewers)

Nobody else is adding?
Hicks is coming off the DL this week.

Paulsen has a home stand, a double header tomorrow, and is easy to manage because you only start him vs. righties.

Apparently Moss made an adjustment in his approach last week, he had 2 HR's this weekend.

Castellanos and Gut have treated me well the last couple-few weeks, but both are more lefty specialists so don't force them in vs. righties.

Conforto's a day-to-day headache, but if he has a righty and is starting he's useful. I wouldn't deal with it if he were on the west coast, but since he often has one of the first games of the day I think it's worthwhile. Similar story with Chisenhall.

Coghlan has faded some, but he's a power/speed combo that's easy to manage because he's only an option vs. righties.

If I have to start Gyorko I will, but I actively try not to.

I'm good on innings in every league but one and I've taken shots on Hendricks and Gallardo in that one. I haven't looked beyond tomorrow yet, but I'm sure one of them will lay an egg making it easy for me to drop him for whatever's coming up next.

Don't know what is going on in Boston with pitching but after a month on the DL Porcello's stuff was electric tonight against the Yanks . 13 Ks and one earned run following his scoreless 7 against the White Sox his last start

Medlen vs CWS danks or Holland @ LAA Weaver? Need a win. Who you got?
Medlen because WhiteSox
Yeah. I think Holland has a better chance of putting up a good line, but Medlen has a better chance at a win. One problem with Medlen though is KC has been quick to give him the hook, so you gotta hope he has a sustainable lead after 5.
Shouldn't be difficult with Danks on the mound.
6 scoreless vs KC in July.I went with Medlen.

Gut was telling me Holland, but Medlen was the plan all week. Usually when I switch like that it burns me, this time it's opposite (pending Holland's success/failure). No win situation :lmao:

edit --- he's not out yet...i'll take some K's

The final 3 weeks of the season. When rosters turn ugly. Is this backup catcher for the yanks any good? Cause I'm starting him tomorrow...

Somebody give me a brilliant replacement for Lucroy for next week.

Leaning toward Beef Wellington Castillo.
Homestand doesn't start til the weekend but Gas Man in Colorado seems interesting for the desperate.
Yeah, COL was my first thought and I was hoping they were at home all week. Still a possibility, since they are home the entire following week, so if I actually make it through to the finals, that would be a nice benefit.

Need a two-start pitcher for this week (points league) from among this flotsam:

K. Gausman (BOS, at TB)

T. Duffey (DET, LAA)

V. Nuno (LAA, at TEX)

M. Perez (HOU, SEA)

A. Brooks (at CHW, at HOU)

N. Tropeano (at SEA, at MIN)

Leaning Nuno. Whoever I take would be locked in for both starts.

My concern with Duffy is that he doesn't make both starts

Do I have the balls to sit Trout in my H2H semis for C Seager

Also, what to do with Sale

Pick a guy pitching Monday whose team does not have an off day Thursday and is not near an innings limit. Otherwise you may not get the two starts you're looking for.

I had that happen this past week ... lost Nola, Nicolino (who I dropped) and T. Walker and somehow lived to tell about it. Nola apparently isn't going to double because of Thursday's off day, and who knows what's going on with Walker. Same with Tomlin, who is going Tuesday. I do have Gray already and Shields even though his matchups aren't great.

i thought losing carrasco today was going to be my undoing, but it looks like Chen, with an assist from Cueto, is doing enough tonight to make whatever carrasco would have done irrelevant. Not the best time for the lowest scoring week of the season...

I wasn't really that excited about my HTH league all year but now that we are in the playoffs, it's actually pretty cool. If I get to the finals I'll get two Garret Cole and two Chris Archer starts that week, and my hitting is 1st or 2nd best most weeks anyway. Playing the two seed this week, I beat him in both in-season matchups but both margins were razor-thin.

Rank these starting pitching matchups (I'm gonna need at least one start here)

Alex Wood vs Colorado

Drew Smyly vs Baltimore

Danny Salazar vs Royals

I always hate trying to start against the Royals. Very pesky. EVen though Salazar did shut down the Jays a couple starts ago.

Rockies offense has been terrible the last 30 days and they have the extra poor road splits. For the season, though, they've been good against lefties and overall Wood's upside seems pretty limited this year.

Smyly dominated the Orioles a couple weeks ago and they are in the bottom 25% of the league against lefties.

So I would probably lean toward Smyly, myself.

Wait a minute, Rockies are dead last in WRC+ against lefties. I was looking at their pitchers (who are giving up a lot to lefties).
:goodposting:

I almost streamed Roenis Elias against them because of this, but decided against because Elias is ####### terrible. He dominated them anyway. Wood should for sure be #1 on that list.

Is Lester starting today vs. Pit or Hammel? CBS has Lester starting but ESPN has Hammel. Not that either of them are free agents, just curious if I'm going to lose a Lester start this week.

You sure about that? Cole has two starts this week, according to CBS. And I own Arch and am a bit worried about the starts next week @ BOS & @ TOR.

But I hope you and I get to sweat those Arch starts in the finals :hifive:

Yeah Cole was originally gonna start Wednesday, but I'll tdke two starts this week. Brad Boxburger meltdown last night already has me in a big hole.

###### McHugh.

I draft the guy, throw him though June when he sucks, cut him, he seems to have straightened things out. Throw him this week in a 2-start week and now this. Stupid ####### hobby.

Figures Salazar would be awesome. He's a good roto pitcher because everything will work out in the end if you start him every game, but in a HTH league he can't be trusted. Almost added Gio too but I just hate him so bad.

Yep in HTH sat him for Archer cause I was scared of the KC bats.

Ok I'm in the title game for my league. I want to add a 2 start pitcher off the waiver wire. Options:

a. Adam Warren - Yankees

He's been productive all season no matter what role the Yankees give him. However, his first start is monday vs David Price and the Blue Jays. His second start is against the lousy White Sox and it won't be against Sale. Pitches monday and saturday so if something forces the yankees to back their rotation up one day he can still go sunday.

b. Martin Perez - Rangers

Perez has been stinky but the Rangers are hot. Plus Perez draws the crappy Athletics Tuesday and slumping Astros Sunday. Pitches Tuesday and Sunday.

c. Tom Koehler - Marlins

Koehler has been average but has pitched well in september. His matchups are outstanding as he draws starts vs the Phillies and Braves who are both playing awful. Pitches Tuesday and Sunday.

I'd go Koehler. He has a 2.97 home ERA this season in that giant park (4.70 on the road). With both games at home against bad teams I like his chances.
