Deangelo was drafted in that class, was he not?Weren't he and maroney the top rbs drafted In their class?
The timing of Joseph Addai's release from the New England Patriots Wednesday was a surprise, even if New England has become a noted nightmare for ex-Colts.
Asked to explain the move Thursday, Patriots coach Bill Belichick was typically circumspect.
"It didn't work out," Belichick said.
The actual story is a little more interesting. Mary Paoletti of Comcast SportsNet New England reported that Addai was struggling during his conditioning test Wednesday ... and just "quit."
And that was it for Addai's Patriots tenure.
The message-sending move is similar to an approach that Bill Walsh used to love in San Francisco. He once cut a rookie free agent for sticking his head out the window and yelling at a passing co-ed. Walsh also would often cut a struggling player right on the field early in training camp so everyone knew the expectations.
Addai didn't meet the Patriots' expectations.
Shooting him may seem like a good idea, I do think it is illegal in most states.Bump Woodhead??What a disappointment. He must be shot.
That might be the main thing they are looking for.Lions could still use him. They are hurting at RB. He can block.
With Best one hit away from retirement, and LeShoure coming off a torn achilles they could do much worse than Addai. Addai would be a nice fit. That might be the main thing they are looking for.Lions could still use him. They are hurting at RB. He can block.
Here's what I often don't get sometimes with some people's comments (so don't feel like I am singling you out). Maybe Addai has something left, maybe he doesn't. The stories out there on Addai include: didn't try, didn't look good at practice, failed a physical, and walked off the field on his own and refused to finish a conditioning test. Addai was on the street and available to 32 NFL teams for 2 months. No one was lining up to sign him. The Pats gave him a bare bones, one year contract with something like a $50,000 signing bonus. What I see is a guy that teams pretty much avoided like the plague that did nothing in his 3 months since signing with New England. Given all that I just pointed out, why would Addai be a good fit for ANY team? It's not like the Pats dumped him because they needed space in the locker room. They had a ton of reasons to jettison Addai. With Best one hit away from retirement, and LeShoure coming off a torn achilles they could do much worse than Addai. Of course I am speaking if Addai has anything left in the tank. How many times has a RB come off the couch in mid-season and contributed? Kevin Smith was avoided by every NFL team and came back and did very well until he was injured. I meant Addias skill set would be a nice fit..that is if has any skill left.'David Yudkin said:Here's what I often don't get sometimes with some people's comments (so don't feel like I am singling you out). Like I said, maybe Addai can turn things around and maybe he has something left. Maybe he can add something as a blocker, but I don't see NFL GM's fighting to get Addai's agent on the phone. Put another way, I suspect that there are other backs available that can offer more than Addai can . . . whether it be for the Lions or for any other team.
