Adding IR slots to ESPN fantasy football league after season started (1 Viewer)

It's starting to get crazy with the Covid cancelations and such.  Does anyone know how to add IR slot at this point in the season?  I came across one reddit thread, but it's from 3 years ago and doesn't work anymore

IR won't help you on ESPN.  None of the players on covid-affected games are actually designated as covid-affected on ESPN (weird, right?) so you can't put them on IR. We added 3 IR slots just to prepare for this eventuality and we're pissed it didn't help.

Adding more bench spots would be a workaround, but on ESPN you can't add bench spots once a season has started!!!  Freaking A ESPN!

Wonder if it’s the same story for Yahoo? I see Cam is not listed as Out but rather Covid-19. I know suspended players cannot be moved to IR and I suspected players who have tested positive are similarly not eligible. 

Could someone please confirm? TIA

You CAN move a player like Cam to IR on ESPN. No idea about Yahoo but I think it's the same.

In a "test" Yahoo league which did not have IR spots, I was able to increase (non-reversible change this year) IR spots in Yahoo.  And then (as commish) place Newton on IR for the team that owned him.

As noted ESPN locks in league settings once the season begins.

Should have anticipated COVID issues prior to the season.  ESPN only allows 4 IR spots and most leagues already have 2 to 3 IR spots, our league had already maxed-out with 4 so I could not add any IR spots.

I am only in a long-standing dynasty fantasy league and we conduct our rookie/Vet FA draft a week before the season so we have had 'different' rule where we would have 2 'extra' bench spots for two weeks into the season to evaluate rookies and then do a manual cuts of 2 players two-weeks in BUT ESPN software doesn't allow changes so it was on the honors system that everyone police their own bench.  I would be notified if someone was flaunting the rules and I would issue a warning.  So our league already had 2 extra bench spots available but for this season with COVID I added another extra bench spot and we did not do any cuts this year so everyone has 3 extra bench spots.

Your league really should have seen 'potential' issues with COVID and pre-emptively acted.
