Adele (1 Viewer)

One pic completely touched up at a deceiving angle. She is very fat. I think she has a pretty face but she is most definitely not hot.
Well I've never seen her in real life. From what I've seen, I think she's pretty hot.

But then again, I've never heard of her until I saw this thread...
Never heard of her? Classic rock only on your Spotify?
All kinds of music. Jackie Greene and Ryan Bingham are on the current list. You should check them out.
Never heard of them

hint: Google image her and most pictures are just of her face. There's a reason why. People don't like her cuz she's hot. They like her because she makes amazing music. Shes not some Britney Spears wanna be.

I agree she has an amazing voice. I'm not very moved by the lyrics of her song(s). I prefer something with a little more grit.

Wow HTF has someone never heard of Adele? Her last album sold over 30 million copies. Get a ####### clue.
I'm very much out of the modern pop music loop. I just don't listen to music on the radio, so there's no way I'd ever hear it.

This actually makes sense. I have teen kids so I try to listen to what they're listening to so our tastes have some overlap. But I agree that there is a ton of good music out there for everybody's tastes.

I acknowledge that certain types of music are more likely to be popular among certain demographic groups, though I suspect that's due more to social conditioning than it is to innate musical taste. That said, and giving credence to social conditioning, I would think Adele's music, which focuses less on repetitive hooks and modern mixing techniques and more on traditional songwriting elements and quality musicianship, would appeal to an adult listener, regardless of gender. Overall, though, it seems fairly obvious that people in pretty much every demographic enjoy her music and this song in particular. It's part of the reason why her video was viewed 12 million times in the first 24 hours it was up. Adult males surely accounted for a lot of those views.
I have found that as I age I prefer music with more complex lyrics and musical arrangements. I find that women usually enjoy simpler lyrics, such as those found in "Hello." I just find it really boring to listen to, and I do think it has something to do with my age and gender. It surprises me that other grown men would listen to her on a daily basis (in the car, etc.).
Well, I don't really listen to any artist on a daily basis. That said, applying your logic regarding complex musical arrangements, I guess you think it odd that grown men listen to rock music? Or rap? Or country?

Doing some reading on this chick. I do feel like I've been living under a rock. How have I never heard of her?

I used the word "more" complex (highlighted above in case you missed it). I didn't just say complex. More complex than Adele is still setting the bar pretty low.

First, I'd give her other songs a listen before jumping to any hard and fast conclusions about her music. You might find this particular song boring, but may enjoy some others. And I wouldn't refer to her music as "modern" except in the sense that it is "current." In many ways, her music is a bit of a throwback, and if someone who had never heard of her was told that the songs were released in the 60s or 70s, I would be willing to bet they'd believe it.

A couple other tunes that you might find more interesting:

Rollin' in the Deep - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYEDA3JcQqw

Rumor Has It - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_6BBAVfzqM

Set Fire to the Rain - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBcMKwbMEcQ

Someone Like You - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLQl3WQQoQ0(you may find this boring as it's arranged similarly to Hello)

Surprised also, since she sang theme to last Bond movie "Skyfall."

Adele, Sia, and Ellie Goulding are in my trifecta of chicks with amazing voices. Ellie doesn't compare with the other two but I find her voice angelic.

Someone Like You will forever remind me of my mom dying of cancer. I remember one night listening to that song over and over and bawling my eyes out even though it had nothing to do with death or cancer. Therapeutic.

I have no more interest in listening to Adele than I do emo bands, for similar reasons.

Sad and uplifting at the same time.

Interesting. What are the reasons?

Seems like a lot of people here really want other to like Adele. I like her fine, but she isnt the greatest of a generation or anything....yet.

If you really like her you're gay. If you say you don't like her, deep down inside we all know you do like her, and you're especially gay. If you acknowledge her talent but say it's not your style of music, you're also probably gay and trying a little too hard to act nonchalant.

I've never heard of this lady but I'll be sure to check out those videos tonight when I'm done having dinner with my roommate.

So basically we're all gay.

casual fan for a while, but Adele sounds to have reached a point many of even the best modern artists do - keeping the counsel of those who only say 'yes' and 'more'. 'hello' sounds more engineered than composed. still powerful in its way, hardly as clever or genuine as the stuff that broke her, tho

you have to try really, really, really hard to not listen to any music out in public (coffee shops, restaurants, shopping malls, doctors offices, etc) to never have heard someone like you, or rollin in the deep.

Rolling in the mac & cheese

Rolling in the mascara

Rolling down the frozen food aisle

Rolling with her homies Aunt Jemina and Betty Crocker

Rolling off the treadmill

Love my gb kutta but gotta disagree with him on this one. I dislike most top-40/pop whatever you want to call it music but Adele is insanely talented. Her songs are so powerful and filled me emotion. I am chuckling at you not knowing who she was - I'm actually not completely surprised based on a couple discussions we've had. Definitely check out her other stuff - not sure you'll like it because it's pretty similar to "Hello" but she's worth listening to.

Ok. Listend to the links BB provided above. The only one I've heard is "Someone like you." I'm not sure where, but I know I've heard it. I couldn't tell you who sang it, but I recognize the song. And it has over 500,000,000 views. WTF?

I stand corrected on her hotness - she's not hot. Not ugly, but not hot either.

I agree she has a great voice. I will soften my stance a bit, but I'm still a bit surprised that 40-something guys listen to her. Sure, if it comes on the radio and you listen, that's one thing. I'm talking about buying a CD or making a spotify playlist with her tunes. It's just not interesting to me.

So maybe it is just musical tastes an has nothing to do with men, women, and age. But if I was hanging with one of my buds and he popped this on the radio, I'd be a kind of shocked.
