Adrian Peterson = Chris Brown (1 Viewer)

Raiders

I'll call it right now. The guy has all of the talent in the world, but his tall frame, and upright gliding running style will get him more time on the IR, than in the endzone. In an interview he compared his running style to Eric Dickerson. Well of course he would, right?! But I've seen this show before. Just like Chris Brown did before him, I imagine he will be lights out a few games, make everyone on the field miss, and put up great numbers, but sooner rather than later I suspect he will get lit up like a Christmas tree trying to glide and dance through a hole, and some OLB will take aim on his tall thin frame and knock him back to his glory days as a Freshman at OU. He will then miss the second half of the game, the next one, maybe the one after that, and then be limited for the next few as well. 5 weeks later he's back and "healthy" and now gunshy! Takes him a few games to get his confidence going and just as he regains his swagger. BOOM! To the IR!

Sophomore season is an intriguing one... Classic boom or bust. Do you look at the guy who was a highlight reel when he played, or the guy that was constantly banged up, and struggled in short yardage scenarios. OH YEAH, I forgot to mention that most of his success and hype from ESPN will be from big plays and long runs, but I doubt that he'll be able to grind it out in the 1-2 yard range. Just an opinion, but that's where I see him getting really nailed! Trying to waltz his way into a first down on 3rd and 1.

In 2008 he will be on two lists: Super Sleeper must have, and Do NOT draft!

As far as dynasty leagues go, I think this is the perfect time to sell the pick, and either move down to get Calvin Johnson and a 2nd. Or really trade down and get my boy R Mecham, and another proven back like Rudi Johnson. And yes I think that some Jabronee would give up Rudi for AD in a dynasty league. But I sure wouldn't.

Well, someone has to be right/wrong. I think it largely depends on where he goes, but he could be a disappointment. Calling him Chris Brown bad though? That's just crazy talk.

I believe I said this in another thread, doesn't Peterson run upright like Brown? Making him more of a risk for injury if you believe that sort of thing. However, one thing Brown doesn't have that Peterson does, and that is SPEED.

His running style might be similiar to C. Brown, but A. Peterson is no C. Brown. I don't think he is E. Dickerson either but if I had to lean one way or the other right now, I would lean closer to E. Dickerson than too C. Brown.

You may be right about that.

I think there are legit questions about his running style, which tends to allow more straight shots, and durability.

Brown ran the 40 in 4.46 seconds and averaged 6.1 ypc his last year at CU. He certainly has plenty of speed.

Like I said in another thread, I get the feeling alot of these people coming in here knocking Adrian Peterson own the #2 pick this year.

:moneybag:

I can't find the link now, so I guess consider this rumor BUT I remember recently reading that AP was trying to adjust his running style so that he was less upright. I thought it was in the FBG blogger, but I can't find it, so I dunno where I saw it.

couldn't have said it better. as far as AP being like dickerson, i don't really know , but if i did know, id'e have to say id'e like to think so......

I hope he follows Dickerson's lead as far as protecting himself.

There was no NFL player that was more a believer in pads than Dickerson. That guy wore every pad he could get his hands on. He was the first one I remember seeing with the lip guard on his mouthpiece.

I was 11 when he came into the league, but I remember the differences between him and Marcus, the king of no knee pads or thigh pads. Always thought that was smart of him.

As an orthopedic surgeon, any football player who breaks his collar bone diving without significant contact into the endzone is suspect injury wise.

Pretty biased thread starter, given that is wasn't Peterson who compared himself to Dickerson. Bad bait. Worse thread.

Key differences:

1. Peterson has a devestating stiff-arm. Brown does not.

2. Peterson is much better at making people miss.

3. Peterson is not so "upright."

4. Peterson is much tougher to take down.

They do both have big play/breakaway ability. Other then that, I'm not sure I see any similarities aside from the fact they both played in the Big XII.

:lmao: , although I can't be positive about #2, Chris is awfullly slippery. I would say that AD may have better vision, but making people miss may be the only category I'd give to Brown.I was playing along here to be funny, but AD is a tough SOB...there is reason why AD is pretty much a lock to go top 10.

I just think AP is the first runner in a very long time to "run tough." Benson, believe it or not, has a lot of that in him although we haven't really seen it in the NFL. The other top guys of late (Bush, Brown, Caddy) are unique and all very talented, but do better slipping and sliding past folks. Peterson, like Benson, strikes me as the kind of runner who can go for 3 ypc until the 4th quarter at which point the other team's front 7 or 8 will start saying, "jeez, not again..." and he eats up 5 or 6 yards at a time as the clock runs outt.
