Good luck. And having my tonsils out did not change my voice at all. I reckon it's all down to the individual as to exactly how it goes.

I figured I will be sitting in a corner and sobing for the most part but want to have worm thing on stand by in case.

So I am day 3 in. I have been living on orange sherbet, mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, Popsicles, and liquid Vicodin.

So far I would say on a scale of 1-10, 10 being a kick in the fellas, I would say a 6 or 7 has been the worst. It hadn't been consistently that bad though.

Had my tonsils and my deviated septum done last Wednesday and it sucks. The first day I was in the hospital and felt like I couldn't breathe, changed pain meds and this was fine. Been eating pudding, jello, mashed potatoes, apple sauce and sherbet and the pain hasn't been too bad. The worst part is when my nose stops up (can't blow, can only inhale and spit) while I sleep and then my throat dries out and that gets pretty sore. Dr got me lidocaine suckers so I can numb my throat occasionally and they work well.

Knocking on wood it hasn't been near as bad as I thought it was going to be from what people have said.

Brother today may suck for you.

Days 3-5 were the worst but after that it was much much better.

Pro tips: the "slushies" from Sonic were awesome for soothing.

Get 2 neck (long) ice packs. I would lay down with them around my neck and swap out when it melted. The doc said 20 minutes on and 20 off but I would sleep with them.

A cool mist humidifier helped me a lot.

I sat with a bottle of chloraseptic and losenges.

Also potato soup and a never ending supply if ice water with the crushed ice from sonic kept me hydrated. Hang in there!!!

On a side note I am going back to work today which sucks even worse than recovery.

Had mine out when I was 15 and it royally sucked. Horrible sore throat for > 2 weeks and I lost 20 pounds. Avoid any acidic food like the plague. Had my wisdom teeth out a couple years later and that was a walk in the park compared to my tonsillectomy.
I had my tonsils out at 35 along with them shaving my Uvula was the worst! Couldnt eat, drink, talk for almost 2 weeks. Horrible...

I think I actually got lucky. Haven't had any pain meds since 5 am Sunday morning (other than some motrin) and am fine for the most part other than a mild sore throat. Follow up appointment with doctor this Wednesday and may go back to work Thursday since I don't do anything strenuous.

And I had never had a sonic slushie before but have had 5 banana taffy ones since last Friday.

Tonsils, adenoids, uvula all gone and deviated septum and other sinus issues fixed and doing well. I got very lucky

Oh, and no ice packs for me needed. Doctor also specifically said no chloraseptic or lozenges for me. I wonder why the difference?

And you can help a hog fan because we are going to suck again this year IMO.

Ive had tonsilitis since Friday. Got antibiotics that dont seem to be helping. God this sucks. Havent been able to eat solid foods since saturday. Even ice cream burns. Anyway, noticed a rash on my arm. Think i may have got coxsackie from my son. Ugh
