Walking Style, what say you? (1 Viewer)

Walking to the cafeteria at work this morning to grab my morning joe, and noticed three individuals walking with both of their hands in their pockets. For some reason this struck me as odd, so I figured who better to pulse than the FBGs in the FFA.

What's your normal walking style? Both hands in your pocket (this junk ain't going to protect itself)? Alanis Morrisette-style (one hand in my pocket)? Both hands swinging by your side (got to be ready to fight off ninjas)?

Obviously the three I saw were all older/middle-aged men, as they didn't have their phone glued to one hand.

Walking with both hands in my pocket makes me feel like Im going to tip over at some point, so I dont do it.

Just curious if this is the new adult version of "6-7" and I'm missing out, or if it was just a weird coincidence. How do the FBG's stroll?

As a Veteran, hands in your pocket is a crime. I never let my children stand and talk to me with hands in pockets. Loosely closed fists, pump those arms, walk with a purpose.
:goodposting: I was going to chime in if you walk with your hands in your pockets you either never served in the armed forces or worked for my old boss at the machine shop I worked at through college. Hands in pockets = you got nothing to do so let me find something for you. Spoiler alert: you never want the boss to find something for you to do.

Lady at my office walks like a penguin with feet splayed and hands by her side. Looks awkward and painful but she gets up to speed pretty quick so it must work for her. Me, I'm a speed walker and will run you over if you don't slide to side when I approach.

There are times when I find myself walking down stairs with my hands in my pockets and I always think "if you trip and fall, you're gonna to bust your head dummy", and then I take my hands out of my pockets and might even loosely hold onto the hand rail.

I walk outside over my lunch break and will sometimes have my hands in my pockets for a bit if it is chilly outside, but that's my only exception to the conventional arms swinging style.

Agree with the fast walkers. I'd estimate >90% of the populace walks way too slow.

I change it up depending on the situation. I can:

Walk fast with authority
Meander
Sashay
Old man waddle
Skip
Foot shuffler
One hand in pocket guy
Two hands in pocket guy
Sad shoulder slumperer
Knee highs

You need it I got it.
Ha ha. I know my post sex walk to kitchen to hydrate I got that Vince McMahon swagger going.

I swap between what I'd say is a longer than average gait (for my height) strut to an old man shuffle depending on back pain levels.

How often do you have sex with Vince McMahon? NTTAWWT

Never walk with my hands in my pockets. I was raised (military) to never have your hands in your pockets. Ever. As stated above, forbidden/criminal.

What's the deal with the military and hands in the pockets?
Multiple things. Let me start by saying I don't agree with their thinking. But. One, it's strongly perceived as lazy and sloppy. It doesn't line up with strict military uniform presentation of professionalism. Another, If you were to fall suddenly your response to catch yourself is slower. My favorite is that your trained to kill kill kill. If your hands are in your pockets and your are attacked you can't defend yourself. Ha ha
