I only point this out because with your forum nickname you have a greater responsibility in these matters. 

This is really dependent upon the season due to the earth's tilt.

The tilt of the earth as measured from the ecliptic plane is 23.5 degrees.  That means the furthest the sun will ever appear positioned over the earth is 23.5 degrees north or south of the equator.  All of the continental US is located further North than 23.5 N latitude (Tropic of Cancer).  Thus the sun will ALWAYS appear in the southern sky from the perspective of someone in the continental US regardless of the season.  If you want to argue for Hawaii, well then you got me.  I should have said "continental" US in my earlier post.
