Why's that?This won't end well.
So, you say they are a reliable group? How is the competition? Scale of 1-10, what sort of "experts" are playing over there? Any difference between gold, silver, bronze levels, or is it simply an SES thing?Awesome. Mr.Golab & Smolarczyk have done a great job. The ordeal with Neil was a minor hiccup along the way. Doubt anyone even remembers.
That was sarcasm. Has to be. It was far from a minor hiccup. So, you say they are a reliable group? How is the competition? Scale of 1-10, what sort of "experts" are playing over there? I understand, however, that they are promising to pay out the full winnings this year after they liquidate some assets. Seemed worthy enough for Joe to consider advertising with them. I care more now that Joe has put on a full court press here to sweep this #### under the rug.who cares?
You, for one.Yes, this gets swept under the rug.Cassius said:who cares?
Exchanged a few PMs with the boss. I suppose the larger issue for him is that he wants the SP to be a hardcore, nuts-and-bolts, football-only discussion forum, while leaving all the rest to the other subforums. Admirable goal, I suppose, but I think it's way too easy to paint oneself into a corner when there are so many overlapping issues with respect to the fantasy end of things, that selectively removing some items while retaining others gives the reader at least a hint that there is something else going on.I have suggested to him that, if he created a dedicated "Fantasy Football Talk" subforum, he could collapse (i.e., do away with) the LFL and AC Forums altogether. This would allow for the "AFFL Rules" and "CBSSportsline Sucks" types of threads to be all in one appropriate place, where other topics, such as scoring systems, fantasy rankings, league fees, and countless other fantasy-related topics could gather in one home. This would make it easier, as well, to police the SP Forum so that it aligns more closely with the topics Joe wants on there. He appears open, but luke-warm, to the idea for now. But, I really think it would relieve a lot of the headaches that have been created, since there have been more and more crackdowns on the content w/in the SP.You, for one.Yes, this gets swept under the rug.Cassius said:who cares? It's Joe's sandbox. I think he'd get more business if he's be more consistent, but I guess he knows what he's doing here. I'll still be a former subscriber.
Thank you.I appreciate the words here and the feedback. I like your idea on the extra forum but I still remain pretty opposed to more forums. One of the things I dislike about other boards is the fragmentation. I think it weakens the whole. But I agree there has to be some. Let me kick it around here for a bit. The way I'm leaning is more toward relaxing the Shark Pool to include non NFL News stuff. I realize that's the reality anyway of how it happens. I just fear it'll be too much of it. I dunno. I'll keep thinking about it. Thanks for the dialog there.cobalt_27 said:Exchanged a few PMs with the boss. Just my .02.
For the record, I don't believe Joe is a smarmy, two-faced hypocrite. Instead, I agree with you, magic, that consistency is important, and the current setup makes it virtually impossible for him to achieve anything close to that. That reality opens him up (and other mods) to the well-voiced concerns that topics are being censored, not to benefit his grassroots investors (FBG members), but instead for the benefit his other corporate investors (e.g., MFL, AFFL, etc.). Perception, unfortunately, is more important than the reality much of the time.
Cool. While you are kicking it around, please consider that this proposal would translate into a net REDUCTION of a subforum, which seems to be what you want. Thus, it would be LESS fragmented. You could eliminate completely the LFL and AC forum because they would no longer be needed (i.e., those forums would be considered "fantasy football" topics and would be housed as part of the new Fantasy Football Talk subforum).Perhaps the LFL is so specific and popular that it deserves its own forum. And, that's fine. But, why keep the AC Forum, which is basically a WDIS thing, anyway? Just broaden that forum to include all fantasy related topics (and would be the place for the AFFL, CBS, fantasy scoring, rules, projections, etc. sort of stuff). In this scenario, you don't add any new forums, either. You simply broaden the scope of the current AC forum, rename it, and include all topics fantasy-related. And, you maintain the cleansing of the SP that you're looking for.Thank you.
