After Week TWO what you like-hate about your draft? (1 Viewer)

Fair & Balanced
Likes: In my two QB league I took Newton with my last pick. Not expecting many games like yesterday but still think he will fill the stat sheet. Took Tolbert late and he could be a TD machine. Also have Matt Stafford in my 2 leagues.

Dislikes: Michael Turner as my #1 RB in one league and the survivor pool, Turner does not look as explosive as the past and the Falcons seem to want to become a passing oriented team. Took S-Jax in another league after vowing not to because I was worried about injuries.

That all my RBs except my RB1 (Foster) are flex type RBs and unfortunately I have to start two of them every week (Ingram, Mathews, Jacobs). Starting to panic already lol

After watching the Chiefs game, I'm sorry that J. Charles was my first round pick. I know it's just the first game, but the magnitude of the

whipping the Buffalo put on them in Kansas City doesn't bode well for their prospects for their season.

That the players I drafted to be wr2 and wr3 are going to be pretty much worthless the rest of the year. Colston, Garcon.

Like: My no-name receiver strategy that allowed me to go RB heavy in a 2RB/Flex league. Starters are Stevie Johnson, who looks like he picked up where he left off, and Manningham, who was targeted plenty yesterday. Brandon Gibson as primary backup who had an okay day, but with Amendola out looks like value.

Dislike: The other piece of the RB heavy strategy was waiting on Josh Freeman and/or Stafford late. I didn't get Stafford and Freeman looked pretty shaky. I did grab Fitzpatrick and while he put up numbers yesterday I'm not super confident in him as an every week starter. I don't hate Freeman as my starter but am definitely nervous. He had something like 4 points until garbage time yesterday.

Hate: Frank Gore round 3

Love: Hightower round 6

Guess who my new starting flex player is...

What I liked about my draft: league one, Did my traditional RB-WR-QB draft and got "my players". Yeah some were reaches according to ADP, but I feel happy with this group. I rationalized that maybe I took a guy 6 spots or so below his ADP, but if I waited till the next round, he'd be gone. I like this team. So I don't have any stud WR's. I don't care. This team is strong at every other position, and there are enough WR's to field a decent 3 man core any given week. F&@* ADP!

What I hated about my draft: league two, Got cute with Waldman's upside down drafting, and I'm not chastizing Waldman, but it takes some stones to do this kind of drafting. I got flustered taking the RB2 table scraps and ended up with D. Williams as my RB1. This team has all sorts of holes and I'm going to be lucky to make the playoffs. To make this team better, I am going to have to invest 10X the time and effort as league 1, where I can kick back and set my lineup and forget it.

Lesson learned for me, stick to the tried and true.

RB/WR/WR/RB/WR/RB/QB to start

Likes:

Stafford in round 7

Dez in round 5

Mccoy at 1.6

Olsen in round 10

Wallace in 3

Neutral:

Felix in 4

Fitz in 2

Dislikes:

Cook in round 12

Pitt D in round 9

TBD:

R.Bush in 6

Like

- Having McCoy, Felix, and Best as my starting backs, with Fred Jackson as an injury/bye week replacement.

- Waiting until late to pick up two upside tight ends instead of burning a mid-round pick. I ended up with Olsen and Gresham, who both looked pretty good.

- I feel like I picked up a lot of good depth, especially at the lower parts of my starting lineup. Right now, I have the most points in my league (hoping that Green-Ellis doesn't put up 26+ tonight, causing me to lose), without having any players that really blew up, other than McCoy having a good game. It's nice to be able to overcome my #1 WR (VJax) having the least amount of points on my team.

Dislike

- My WR group disappointed me with no receiving touchdowns on the day...and a rather unspectacular week one as a whole. I started Santana Moss, Mario Manningham, and Vincent Jackson. Nate Burleson and Percy Harvin (if you include his return TD) had decent games on my bench...but no one really stood out. This gives me a little doubt, as I was hoping for at least one breakout performance to start the season. I still have Jacoby Ford going tonight though, so hopefully that will be a good start.

- My choice of the Arizona Cardinals as an early season defense paid off for one game because of the special teams touchdown, but I don't see anyway that they are a good play going forward. There are an unusually high number of defenses drafted in my league this season, so I might be in a rough spot trying to replace them. Buffalo is available though, so I'm thinking I may take a shot on them.

Like: Nothing. With the exception of Hernandez and maybe Smoktonio, no upside at all, and in fact, a lot of guys whose best years are behind them. Andre Roberts was trendy, but now I am sorry that no one snaked him in front of me

May be looking at a pretty thorough overall for Week 2, although there is not much on the wire in a 16 team league

QB: Schaub, Sanchez

RB: Chris Johnson, Stephen Jackson, Brandon Jacobs, Javon Ringer, Shane Vereen

WR: S Holmes, Colston, Lee Evans, Andre Roberts, Donald Jones

TE: Hernandez, Cooley

K: J Brown

D: ATL

Love my QBs: P. Manning, Stafford and Cutler.

Love my RBs: Rice, DMAC and Benson.

Hate my D: ARZ.

Time to hit up the WW for a new D.

Good idea for a thread:

Love - Stafford and flacco as my 2 QBs. Would love to trade one of them for a 2nd RB.

Hate - Williams and Lynch as my 2nd and 3rd RB. Colston as my 3rd WR. Didn't get to watch the game but Williams didn't get many carries and i heard that they really stacked the line. Will that change due to Cam 400+ passing yards? Lynch didn't get many carries and it was a close game. Colston is obviously out.

Ok with - Julio Jones as my new 3rd WR. - Looks like they will be throwing a lot this year and defense isn't looking great.

Like:

That I landed Mccoy in 2 of 3 of my leagues in the 1st round .5ppr

Having S.Moss as a wr3 in both my pprs that start 3 wrs

Dislike-

Bradford P.Manning duo at qb on the same team 6pt all tds 12 team =(

Blount in 1 league was 1 to many

My E.Manning Freeman Bradford qb trio in 6pt all td 12 team

The only silver lining is that Charles will be targeted a lot in a pass-happy offense that needs to catch up often. Much better than a guy like Turner, who wouldn't be targeted much if they are down.

I think that the worries over DeAngelo are at least a little overblown. Arizona blitzed on almost every down and tried to pressure Cam into making mistakes. I doubt that happens as much now that Newton has shown that he can perform well with constant pressure. Stewart is going to continue to take a decent amount of the carries, but that is no reason to think that DeAngelo can't perform as well. Williams looked great in limited action during the preseason (contrary to what the overall numbers may show...to be honest, I didn't look at the stats, but I did watch every snap)...but I will admit that he was dancing behind the line of scrimmage a lot more than he normally does, and he missed the opportunity to break to the outside a few times during carries yesterday. This hasn't typically been a problem for him in the past however, so I'll chalk it up to one bad outing until I see a little more from him this season.Maybe take a wait and see approach with him, but I think that he will end up with a solid season by the end of the year. He will probably lose out on a number of goalline carries, but Stewart has typically taken a decent amount of those anyway when they are both healthy. Most of DeAngelo's TD runs tend to come from 10+ yard backs regardless.

Got sucked by Matthews' ADP and overly high expectations from others. He still had decent numbers, but Tolbert seemed like the primary go to back, especially in the red zone.

Also worried about the Chiefs being a black hole of suck this year. Not going to overreact on Bowe after one week though.

Great input solo and I like to add, DWill always starts off slow then after the BYE blows up

- Hate Gore as my RB#1 (he looked sluggish yesterday in what was supposed to be one of his easier games)

- Hate DWill as my RB#2

- Love Beanie as my RB#3 (he's now my RB#2)

- Love what the 9er's D produced yesterday. It was fun while it lasted - Cowboys next week.

I like my one redraft team very much, though I'm a bit nervous that I screwed the pooch when I took Peterson in front of Rice.

Likes: Ray Rice and and Hakeem Nicks in the first two rounds. Tolbert in the middle rounds.

Dislikes: Big Ben over Stafford. Taking Ryan Grant at all and then missing out on Starks as a handcuff. Passing on Kenny Britt.

Like: That in my Keep 3 where I already owned Foster and Rice, I went heavy on RB (Wells and Benson)...nice to know you can trot out your 4th RB and get 20+ points.

Dislike: Early to tell, but in two leagues I waited on Def. In one league, I lost because of it...in my third league (where I drafted the Jets, I may win b/c of it). I hate having to worry about it, but can never pull the trigger when contemplating a 3rd RB or 4th WR to go after a Team Defense.

I learned that grabbing 3 RB's in the first 4 rounds was greatly beneficial to my team s everyone else's teams are looking shaky with their 2nd and 3rd running backs after they grabbed 2 QB's early whle I waited for Freeman and Kolb to drop to me in the 5th and 6th rounds in one and Schaub, Flacco in another, both start 2 QB leagues.

Somehow I drafted guys I really didnt want and now Im paying for it, ie Collie, H. Ward, Schonn Greene. While passing on guys I wanted (Stafford) cause maybe it would have been a little too high.

Likes: Ray Rice and and Hakeem Nicks in the first two rounds. Tolbert in the middle rounds.Dislikes: Big Ben over Stafford. Taking Ryan Grant at all and then missing out on Starks as a handcuff. Passing on Kenny Britt.
I have a feeling you're not going to like Nicks in the 2nd round so much pretty soon...

Likes: Got Cam in all 3 of my dynasties, including 2 that are start 2 QB leagues. Shady McCoy as my 1st rounder in 2 dynasty leagues.

Dislikes: Took Arian Foster over McCoy in a re-draft after debating between the 2 in my mind all day leading up to the draft. Also dislike drafting Jared Cook and Aaron Hernandez as my TE duo, unless Hernandez shows up tonight. Cook looked like a non-factor yesterday.

Taking P. Manning (at a good value) before things started to look really bad. Made it worse by backing him up with Cassel. :bag: I can only be thankful that I only have them in 2 leagues out of 12.

Hate RB's for the most part. Knew RBBC would be tough, but it's looking even uglier than expected.

At least my QB's and WR's are for the most part very strong.

Like: Stafford (round 7)and Romo (round 4)at QB

Like: Nicks (round 2) and Steve Johnson (round 6)...hope they stay healthy and continue

HATE: CJ, Steven Jackson (round 3), DWill (round 5), Jacobs (round 8)...WTF!

My RBs and Flex were supposed to be my strong suit...

I liked the value of my guys, but I don't like the players themselves.

At Jackson's spot, I knew I was going RB and only he and Gore were left in their tier...and he's hurt again.

DWill in Round 5 I thought was great value...and then I watched Arizona own the Panthers supposedly good OLine.

In a 12 team redraft I hate that I just wasn't feeling Forte or DMC at all....went QB (Brady) 2nd Rd (QBs fly off the board in this league; 6 pts/any TD, -2 pts/Int):

Like: Calvin; Steve Smith 8th Rd (even though he'll hit the floor when I actually start him)

Hate: Needing at least 2 of Beanie/DWill/Greene to come through on a weekly basis

In my 10-team non-PPR Auction Draft:

Love - Ray Rice, Calvin Johnson, Tony Romo, Felix Jones, Steve Smith (Car) (who was on the bench this week), Chris Wells, Jimmy Graham, Colt McCoy (QB3)

Questioning - Mark Ingram, Sam Bradford, Larry Fitzgerald (I think I'll end up loving him, for sure), Donald Driver, Lance Kendricks, Roy Williams, Steve Smith (Phi), DeMarco Murray

Jury Out - NE Defense, Willis McGehee

Hate (is too strong a word) - Nate Kaeding (What the heck are you doing trying to make a tackle, boy? I jinxed him at the draft by announcing after I bought him for $2, "I love Nate Kaeding. Set it and forget it.")

I'm sure everyone's list will change as the weeks go by. It's only week one, guys; there is a long road ahead.

I am constantly amazed at how many FF players insist they must pick a top-tier QB in the early rounds of a draft. No amount of reason can dissuade them. When "QBs are flying off the board" that's all the more reason to load up on quality RBs and WRs. The only real problem in waiting on a QB is when the same doofus that picked Aaron Rogers in round 1 picks Matt Stafford/Ben Roethlisberger/etc in round 5.

Love that Steve Johnson fell to me as a WR#3.

Hate that I gambled on D Thomas as a RB#3 and his value went in the toilet right after we drafted.

The draft in the league I care most about somehow went almost EXACTLY to "plan", couldn't believe it. Only 1 week in, but so far I'm happy I shot for upside picks instead of playing it safe. Only weak spot is TE.

Going over mock draft results, if I could pull off solid players with a RB-WR-WR-RB-RB-WR-QB-Depth, I was normally very happy with the team.

1) Ray Rice - Very happy

2) Calvin Johnson - Very happy

3) Mike Wallace - Very happy

4) Felix Jones - Looks good

5) Jahvid Best - Happy to have as my #3-4

6) Kenny Britt - Very Happy

7) Matthew Stafford - Very happy

8) Beanie Wells - Great value falling to the 8th

9) James Starks - looks to be taking over

10) Lee Evans - Was happy at the time, 0 catches for 0 yards in game one isn't exactly encouraging though

11) Robert Meachem - Never want to see someone get hurt, but he's looking good now that Colston is out

12) Jared Cook - think I'm going to get off at this stop and board the Kendricks train

13) Detroit - Good matchups the next few weeks. Love that D-Line

14) Denarius Moore - Preseason legend hype

15) Alex Henery - a kicker is a kicker is a kicker

16) Randy Moss - got absolutely drilled for taking him, but if he signs on somewhere this 16th round pick should pay off in either production or trade bai

like- kenny britt fell very late to me as my wr3. Bush and Best make for solid rb3's and rb4.

dislike- not a whole lot. my kicker sucked (kaeding). CJ sucked but I expect he'll be fine.

I dislike that the guy against me drafted and played steve smith.

like rounds 1-3. McCoy, Hillis and FJones.

dislike rounds 9 and 11 took Evans,Collie. Left SSmith-CAR, at 9 and Burleson ans Burress at 11

canyou say DU-MAss

some stupid value based drafting system that had me take andre johnson in the first while passing on tom brady...only later to get that super stud josh freeman to lead my team...

Likes: Kenny britt in the 7th

Jimmy Graham in the 6th

CJ @ 1.07

Tate, Starks and meachem as FA pickups post draft.

Back to back picks of Austin and Dez...I think.

Hate: Eli in the fifth...ridiculous pick bc I panicked.

Nyg def w/all these injuries

Like: Gronkowski in round 10 as my TE1

Hate: Not taking Ben Tate (Foster owner) in round 10 as I likely could have had Gronkowski in round 11.

Also, I hate that the pick before me in the 2nd round was Tom Brady - but being out of my control that doesn't really count. I still hate it, though!
