Alaska to the North Pole - Suggestions? (1 Viewer)

We do a guys' fishing trip to Alaska every year. This year will be our eighth year. Me and another dude are thinking of going early and trying to somehow go to the North Pole.

Well, it's damn hard to figure out how to do this. What we'd really like to do is find someone to fly us up there, maybe spend the night in an igloo or something, then head back. But everything I see requires either a cruise or a flight from Norway, neither of which are very good options.

We really don't care about price, so if @chet or @Otis know some way the rich guys get there, let me know.

We have a corporate meeting that week, and we are pretty sure it will be remote, so we want to try to do it from the North Pole and wear those big eskimo jackets.

Any thoughts?

Ever try the Rainbow King Lodge in Alaska?  No clue on North Pole.  Sounds cool though.

Where do you fish?

Not sure about getting there from Alaska, but have it on good authority that these are the directions to the North Pole from New York City, and good news is it's all walkable:

- Head through the Lincoln Tunnel

- Cross the sea of swirly-twirly gum drops

- Pass through the seven levels of the Candy Cane forest

- Arrive at the North Pole

Maybe @Santa Claus can advise?

Well, if you can’t make it to the actual North Pole, you could go to the town of North Pole, not far from Fairbanks.

Was going to post this. Boyfriend of a relative grew up there.

Soldotna - The Kenai River. We head to Homer for a day for ocean fishing for white fish. But we mostly stay in Soldotna and fish sockeye and kings.
I did basically the same trip about 5 years ago. I need to get back up there.

This is the trip I want along with all the creature comforts possible.

Having been to the North Pole, all I can tell you is, ......you can't get there.  Two ways that I know of, nuclear submarine or ice breaker.

The above is how I got there. I'm a Blue Nose (look it up). Spent the summer of '96 north of the Arctic Circle. It's the time of year when the sun is up 24/7

I would spend all of @chet's CYDY money to see the Aurora Borealis in person

Good luck with your trip  :headbang:

I’m no help.

But!  when I did my back pack trip through Europe, 35 years ago, my group of 4 split up.  Me and a buddy went to Amsterdam, to smoke hash.  The other 2 wanted to go to Hell.  Hell, Norway.  Scandinavia is the easiest path to the be inside the artic circle.  No clue on the North Pole.

Gllllll pssssss

Awesome! We've done the same one for years now. We keep talking about trying something different but we have so much fun there, and we know the guides and people in town so it's really fun. I think we are going to just keep going here - it's officially a tradition.
