Alfred Morris not getting the TDs....what's up with that? (1 Viewer)

Wasn't able to watch that game but noticed Helu got three TDs to Morris' zilch. But then I see Morris rushed for nearly 100 yards. Was this a fluke or is this turning into Shanahanigans all over again?

The first two were Helu coming in to give Morris a breather. The 2nd one they got into hurry up and Morris had no chance to get back in. The 3rd one I was surprised, since Reed took them to the 1 and they didn't bring in Morris to run (in an obvious rushing situation).

I saw that and seeing as I couldn't watch the game either, it made me a bit irritated since Morris has been very successful at the goal line.

It may be somewhat fluky that Helu happened to be on the field for each of the touchdown plays, but the 'Skins have been mixing in some hurry up offense to their game plans recently. It's helped the offense find some rhythm, as well as keep defenses from subbing players in/out and wearing them down.

When they do that, they want Helu (a quicker, better pass catching back) on the field. Morris still saw the bulk of the RB touches today despite how much Helu played, which is what the 'Skins want. But until the Redskins can control the clock like they want to, and not either get behind or have to trade TD blow for TD blow like today, Helu will see a significant amount of PT.

Helu is simply extremely talented in his own right. No one knows how this would have played out last year if Helu was healthy coming into the season so it's not super surprising that he's getting work. I would obviously treat today and the TD total as an outlier, however.

This is a great breakdown that covers pretty much everything. Bitter fantasy owners won't want to hear it, but this post is where they should be directed.

Morris wouldnt even be the starter if Helu stayed healthy last year.
Helu is healthy now, and he isn't the starter. Shanahan plays the people he feels do the best in given situations. Obviously he feels Morris is a great bruising runner, and he feels Helu is the better pass catching and speed back.

Helu is playing noticeably better this year than he has ever played before. First, he's not constantly injured with the chronic muscle stiffness/cramping that kept him off the field and out of practices so much in previous years. Second, a year of watching Morris has taught him how to wait, follow blockers, and see holes better than he's ever done. He did not have that ability last year which is why he would not have beaten out Morris even if he (Helu) had been healthy.

As a Morris owner I agree with this. Also, Helu can get to the outside, widens the field in the red zone. As long as he's effective he'll get PT. Morris ran great and it coulda been more. 95 yards won't get him benched. Helu 11-41.
