All FBG Mock! (1 Viewer)

Price was money at that pick.
He was the one I was thinking of with clearly the most amount of value of any player on the board.I love all the "fallen angel" WRs - the relativley highly rated guys from last year who had down years - I see two more of them still on the board.

Ricky Williams MIA 0 12 Brian Westbrook PHI 0 9 Hines Ward PIT 0 10 Peerless Price ATL 0 6 Tony Gonzalez KCC 0 10 This team is excellent imo.
As long as Ricky performs - I would wish for another RB to compete with Westbrook at the RB2 in case C-Buck ends up as the better FF player, but I love the 1-2 WR punch, and I think Gonzo is about as money a TE as has ever existed in the league - and his final numbers each year support that.

thanks, I was worried a bit about westbrook so high and was looking for a QB with my last pick but I think Price will ball out next year with VIck healthy

Naw, the way i see it, you grabbed the best TE, you can find value at QB. I agree with with slevin a #3 rb will solidy your team.

In response to slevin and the WR critics, here is my rationale:I had hoped to end up with 3 WR. I had them ranked:1. Rogers2. Andre3. PriceI went with Andre first cause I felt he was the most likely to get drafted before I could pick again. I tried trading up with a few owners to get one more pick in this range to get all 3, but my trades were not successful. And obviously Price was taken before my next pick, so here I am.The reason I had Price at the bottom of these three was Vick. I feel Vick is slightly unfriendly to the FF WR. He is a bit inconsistent throwing the ball, and also spreads the ball around to the RB and TE a lot. I know it's not much worse than the situations that Andre and Rogers are in, but I had these 3 guys very closely ranked and I needed some way to separate them, so this is what I did.I'm not sure who the other WR's slevin had above Rogers, but he was my highest ranked WR, and I REALLY don't think he would have lasted till my next pick.I could have gone with one of the Smith Brothers, but I'm a little sour on them this season due to their age. I also think JAX might draft a WR this season. Just a hunch with the WR heavy draft. So, that was my rationale. I still have to snag a WR or 3, so I'm not spilling all my beans.

You got two of the three I was thinking of as better than Rogers -inexperienced offense, young WR, and a QB who rushes his passes versus a couple of vets who will probably get 70 catches, ~1G, 6 or so TDs (virtually guaranteed) as WR1 on competitive teams. There is one more WR out there in the Rod S, Jimmy S, Price range who I have ranked above Charles Rogers.WRs are like fine wine - they mellow over time, but they don't go bad all that quickly. Opening a bottle of the young stuff you take a chance - more often than not, they require another year to mature. At this point in the draft, and with your team, you can't have missteps at WR and my advice would be to play it safer than ranking Charles Rogers AND Andre Johnson ahead of the vets. Esp. Charles since he is still totally unproven.Your ranking are your rankings, though - if you have the next two receivers as CR and AJ and they are both above the guys I mentioned above, it's all you, dude - as long as you got the guys you wanted - I think you are right about Andre maybe being gone, but I'd have risked seeing if CRogers made it to the 6th round. My philosophy, since both are such high risk, would be to take a risky and a safe WR at this point - I am sure you won't argue against the statment that CRogers as a FF starter is taking a risk - much greater than pencilling in any of those other guys.In any case, you diod what you felt was right for yourt team and you got th etwo guys you liked - you can have 20-20 hindsight around mid-season, but I have the feeling you will regret passing on all those vets while hitching your WR star to these two youngsters.

Curses to you taking David Boston one pick before me! ARHGHGHEJRHGWLKJRH HJ:~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11Anyway, I'm rather pleased with my WR tandem, considering I think Moulds will outperform his slot of WR10. Moss and Moulds should keep me steady in a start-2 WR league for some time.My RB situation is going to require even more depth as I now have one rookie (who I have faith in), a talented but grossly underachieving starter for the Bears, and a guy who at best will be splitting time with another quality back. I also considered Onterrio Smith and Garrison Hearst, but its impossible to know what Tice will do with Smith/Bennett/Williams and I can't convince myself that Hearst is anything more then Veteran depth for the Broncos. I am a big believer in "talent wins out," and McGahee has talent in droves. As long as he's healthy - and should be - he should be on the field enough to justify taking him as a RB3.There is plenty of QB talent left, and the top-3 Tight Ends are gone so I've activated my "Sleeper Machine" and will be waiting a while on TE.HERD

5.12 JAA selects: D Foster

I hate this pick. However, the 2 players I am targeting I think will be available on the backside. I kept thinking about having Davis as my RB1. I dont think that is a bad deal, but if he went down I would be royally screwed. This league doesnt allow it, BUT most leagues I play in allow and 1-4 RB-WR lineup.

Anyway, I have issues right now needed to land a RB2a/2b/2c and a QB. Not that I regret my other decisions, not at all really, but just going to be a tougher draft for me here on out. This is EXACTLY what happens when you dont draft RB-RB ...

Brit: I think you gto a great squad. Looking at your roster, I think that I agree with slevin that having JSmith over Rogers would be the call ... in a re-draft league. This coming from a guy who had Horn as a keeper (3 keeper, diff positions) and drafted JSmith, Rogers and Johnson last year (won league).

Herd: I have an interesting beat on you. I am now putting you in the 'knows too much' 'I want to be in a league with you' category. I think you know too much about rating talent and projecting rookies, but no less about value, and solid drafting. I think I would love to be in a league with you because I would learn a lot from how you draft. But I also think your teams would not bode well because you would always be looking for that 'gem'. I would then use your info for my keeper leagues ;) .Dont take offense to this, we all have our faults, just pointing out something I think I learned from listening to your draft. :banned: :banned:

I think I like Pyscho's team the best so far considering that lineup requirements (which I hate):

Code:
Team: Psycho Owner: psycho Last activity: 4/08, 09:17 AM QB TM B FP Peyton Manning IND 0 34 RB Clinton Portis WAS 0 19 Marcel Shipp ARI 0 6 Quentin Griffin DEN 0 4 WR Chris Chambers MIA 0 9 TE None K None DT None

Herds team looks a lot stronger to me in a keeper format. Randy Moss is one of the few cant miss keepers, while one of his 3 rbs at the very least is likely to pan out. Could be all three, who knows? In a redraft league, im more inclined to look for guys who have proved something to me on the field in the NFL, even if only in limited time. In a keeper league to be successful long term you _must_ roll the dice on rookies and their equivalent if you want a prayer of having the next Tomlinson on your team without selling your kidney for him (assuming you arent in a guppy league). Im willing to take a season on the chin in the search for that. In a redraft league im more concerned with not blowing my season in the draft. The old saw, you cant win it draft day but you can lose it.

Interesting. Its actually been a while since I drafted a WR in the first round and truthfully, that, in conjucntion with this being a 14 teamer (I'm used to 12 team redrafts) is biting my ### on the RB position. I think Jackson and Jones will both outperform their draft position, and I'm certain that I didn't pass on any sure-fire RB1 material when I took Moss. THat being said, looking back on it, I'd probably have tried to trade out of my first round spot to snag 3 "better then average" Rbs in the first 2 rounds rather then take a stud-WR and then be scrambling for RBs later on....I do use VBD when drafting redrafts, but at this point in the off-season, I don't have any real projections for next year, just approximate expectations. You do touch on an interesting point about looking for "gems". I am not saying I'm great at it or any better then the next person, but I ABSOLUTELY look for the next Gem. I find much greater satisfaction in making a pick people laugh at on draft day that pans out well then in making a pick where someone says, "good value taking that WR a couple slots later then he should have gone..." So, that most certainly is a fault of mine, especially when it doesn't pan out! :excited: I think this not being a flex-league would help my team as well.HERD

I think BlueOnion and "Onion" are not the same person. I just saw a thread somewhere where someone reminded him it was his turn and he had no idea what they were talking about.I'm beginning to wonder if "Onion" is even a FBG???

I'm thinking Onion needs to be replaced. We could finish this draft today except for him holding it up as everyone else seems to be here...HERD

I finally found what everyone is talking about and I do not remember signing up for this so I apologize to those who were expecting me to make a pick, to which I did not for reasons mentioned above.Does anybody need me to make 'a pick'? If so, I will.

WELL that would explain it now, wouldn't it.Out for an early lunch - I'm predrafted for next round.Herd - Thanks for the confirmation in my faith in Boston.

Sorry bout that Blue! A little onion confusion. Maybe you could take this other onion guys place. Makes for some continuity :D

I just want to clarify if I make a pick, it will be the first time 'I' (blueonion) have made a pick in this draft.

Would be glad to fill in if someone could 'PM' the specs...where\if to sign up, who is alredy on the team I am inheriting and what players are available.

Ironic as it is with my postings in other threads and the thread I posted about "Moss' court case for running over a traffic cop", I just want to say:"The glove does not fit!"

I usually don't like to replace people just because they're taking too long, but so far his average time to pick is twice as long as the next longest (which happens to be me). However, we're not even sure if he is a FBG *and* he's already abandoned a couple of previous drafts (2 of the 7 he's done on that site - I love all the data that you can get on that site!)... So, I'm leaning toward replacing him if anyone is actually keeping track.

If Blue Onion isn't interested in getting in, I should put my money where my mouth is since I've been so critical and take over his team.I'm pretty busy, but I if I have time to check in on your progreess, I have time to make a pick.

I vote replace him. This is his 2nd (3rd) time doing it. He should predraft. I know there is a 6 hour window, but I think we should speed things up. While it may not be 'cool', who the #### cares, it is a mock draft.Unless some people want to put $$ where their mouse is ;)

Morning, voting to upgrade our Onion to Blue. Plus I think Blue Onion is a Vikes fan.I'm thinking the commish will be in soon. I think he's a Best Coaster like myself...

 PS - I am going to big font this:

Anyone else thinking there needs to be a Shark Pool League? We could let the board vote in each participant.

Just refreshed the Xpert site, and now the skin is red. Interesting. It would be nice if we had a pick here.
Heh, I was updating some code and hadn't yet updated my stylesheet. I was wondering if anyone would catch the few seconds of redness.

Maybe? I don't stand a chance of getting voted in though.
Maybe we should start one ourselves then ...I have all the confidence in the world I would be crowned King of the Shark Pool. Anyone think they can de-throne me (not that I have the throne yet)?

FYI -Shadowmaster PMed me the specs and I set up my account. My account name is none other than....'blueonion', which is not to be confussed with more generic 'onion's.I am still in the dark as to whether I need to sign up for this 'league' or if the commish needs to invite me.I am also still in the dark as to what the roster is of the team I might inherit.

Blue, i think the commish needs to invite u into the league. and as for ur team, you drafted 13th outta 14 teams, and have Faulk, Rudi, Lav.Coles, and Derrick Mason so far.

Nice of you guys to leave out these critical points after I sign up...I will make do though and give it my best shot. I just hope that is Marshall Faulk and not Kevin Faulk...I think.

I think redCashion could make the switch if needbe. It would certainly be understood by the commish and all parties involved...HERD
