Surprised by all of the love for Upton over Polanco.
Well, BJ has more homers, RBIs, a better OBP and SLG percentage, a better OPS and more stolen bases, but other than that...Polanco has him covered. :mellow:to be fair, Placido does play better defense. so you got that going.

Actually, Polanco has more RBIs than Upton....as well as runs, hits, and batting average. Not to mention the better defense. Oh yeah, Upton strikes out five times as often as Polanco.Add in his ridiculous BA with runners in scoring position and Polanco is the easy choice.

got me there, my bust. placido has exactly two more ribs.
.as well as runs,
product of the lineup he's in.
hits, and batting average
 who cares? BJ gets on base more. Who still uses BA as anything more than a roto league stat?
Oh yeah, Upton strikes out five times as often as Polanco.
again, who cares? BJ gets on base more.Upton has created 8.5 runs per game. Placido 8.0. They're both very good, but there are the reasons why some people prefer BJ.

Youkilis should go in before Lowell and Swisher, and probably Teixera, but there isn't another Ranger to add so it's Teix. But Youkilis should be there. And how about the SS position in the AL? It's pretty tough this year. Let's not forget about Orlando Cabrera, I think he goes in before Tejada. I would say Jeter, Guillen, Cabrera. (and Jeter only starts because of voting)

Orioles need a representative hence Tejada. And Youk does deserve to go. How bout we put him in over either Ortiz or Hafner.

That really suxor for Orlando, didn't realize no one else from Baltimore is worthy enough to go. Although I would strongly consider Bedard. He has pitched well with many quality starts, and lost at least 4 wins because of thier stink ### bullpen. And replacing Pronk is probably a good move for Youk, although that adds too many Red Sox, that's why I brought up replacing Lowell, but if they all deserve to go....

didn't realize no one else from Baltimore is worthy enough to go.
Didn't stop Ripken from making it most years...
Very true. And that's why I don't like the one player from every team rule. If your team sux, and no one deserves to go, then too %$*& bad. Let the guys who deserve to go get in and play. Question for everyone about all-star qualifications...I once had a debate over a few beers with some buddies for an all-star appearance. Some believed it was only on performance for the current half year, and some believed it should be judged on this half year, and include the second half of last year. What say you?

I always voted as how they were playing for that particular year...

What will happen in Yankee fans hammer home Posada over IRod....will Leyland take IRod over VMart?
you bet he will.Tiger fan seem to be stuffing the ballot box quite well these days too, I think Polanco has taken the lead for 2b and Maggs in 4th, and every close to 3rd for OF.
Yes Upton has the numbers, but I think Polanco should be the starting 2B right now...

He had to have read your post wrong. ;)It's real funny to see Casey and Inge third at their respective positions. I don't care that teams stuff the ballots hard for good players like Polanco and Ordonez, even IRod....but those same people voting for Casey and Inge are losers. Again, I'll default to the Michigan theory.

What an F'n JOKE!
 He doesn't have a chance. What difference does it make?
Just the fact that a .205 hitter has more votes than Cabrera is sad.

Leyland is putting Verlander in the ASG. bet on it
What will happen in Yankee fans hammer home Posada over IRod....will Leyland take IRod over VMart?
you bet he will.Tiger fan seem to be stuffing the ballot box quite well these days too, I think Polanco has taken the lead for 2b and Maggs in 4th, and every close to 3rd for OF.
Ordonez being 4th in OF voting is evidence of Tiger fans stuffing the ballot box?OK. :hot:
Care to elaborate? Dude's batting .370 with 13 HRs and 64 RBI.
He had to have read your post wrong. :sleep:It's real funny to see Casey and Inge third at their respective positions. I don't care that teams stuff the ballots hard for good players like Polanco and Ordonez, even IRod....but those same people voting for Casey and Inge are losers. Again, I'll default to the Michigan theory.
So you would agree that tiger fans are stuffin the box then? They could have 3 starters, plus the #2 voted SS, the #3 voted 1b and 3b who dont deserve to be that high, and currently the #4 and #6 outfielder.

Depends how everyone defines "stuffin". I'm just saying, when Detroit fans are filling out their ballots, for the most part they are choosing Tigers (hence Inge and Casey being on these lists). Not many of those 800K votes are coming from outside of Tiger Stadium. Maybe we can just blame the kids, right?IIRC, Dr Det was saying the Tigers have alot of road games coming up, so some of these numbers might shift. When does the voting end?

We're talking about the 4th and 5th place vote receivers at a position that is dominated by one of the game's bigges stars. Who gives a ####? I swear, I wonder sometimes if you guys just started watching baseball last week. This is the All-Star game. It's not the All-Statistics game. Fans vote for the starters. Deal with it.

What does any of that have to do with you pointing out that Ordenez is currently 4th?
