All-time cereal draft (1 Viewer)

How does this look like for a polling structure to decide the champ?Poll 1: all 10 rosters, top 6 advance.Poll 2: top 4 advancePoll 3: top 2 advancePoll 4: champion decidedIs that too many? Will people tire of voting for this after 1 or 2 polls? Is having all 10 rosters in the first poll entirely too much information for voters to sift through?
That would be a lot of info. to digest in one thread.Maybe break it into two divisions of 5 each, take the top two from both groups to make the next round. Take the top two from that group for the championship.

Yes, to many.I like the top 4 advancing.............then resubmit with the final 4 to get a winner. We don't want our cereal going stale in the FA!

How about 3 polls? 1: all 102: top 53: top 2I am going to require a minimum # of votes for the first round with so many options, like maybe 200 votes.(yes, I'm stalling due to my indecision)

shuke, use your pull with the mods and get it to where whoever wins can have his group changed from "members" to "King of Cereal" or something stooopid like that.

I think 10 teams of 10 cereals all in one poll is too much to handle. Just my opinion though.

I like the divisions idea.

Well, as I looked at my roster I came to the conclusion that I was under-represented in the fruity cereal category. I was really hoping Smurfberry Crunch would slip to me here, and I'm still pissed about not grabbing Frankenberry early.

While some of the cereals left undrafted have a mixture of fruit tastes similar to Fruit Loops and Trix, none of them really have the name recognition and staying power, regardless of how good they tasted.

With that said, I present to you my final pick of the draft, OJ's.

Hopefully Kellogg's will reintroduce this at some point and include a toy replica glove or pair of Bruno Magli shoes.

You mean we're handing out a trophy for second place also?

Had a chance to hit a home run....and struck out........

I'm sorry, but anyone who takes Cinnamon Toast Crunch 6th overall, deserves to win nothing. Just a horrific selection there.

Disagree, that stuff is crack in a box. Same with Fruity Pebbles. The only way to stop eating those cereals is to staple your mouth shut or put a lock on the cabinet.BTW, has anyone else had Fruity Pebble Treats? There was a recipe on the box (basically same as Rice Krispies Treats), and we made them one time when I was a kid. I came out of my sugar daze about a week later, somewhere in Idaho, with an empty wallet and a sporting a tattoo.

with my last pick i will take Blueberry Morning
 I think you have the 'adult' cereals covered.
i agree but being here in Japan means I can't go to the supermarket and browse the isles for the latest kids craze,i am mostly going by what i remember some cereals named I have never even heard of,even some 1st rounders.

Eh, not a bad pick. I can see going with something a little offbeat this late in the draft. Personally I would have gone down a different street in the same neighborhood, but I'll refrain from saying any more than that.Still several great sleepers out there.

10th round pick...........when you have Sir Grapefellow in the draft, to not draft his nemesis would be an absolute crime.

I'll take the big German......................Baron Von RedBerry

Thanks to Shuke for being a gracious commish for this draft. I want to thank all the judges and commentators who took the time to post their opinions........without them this would have just been another draft. I don't think a lot of people gave this draft much of a chance when it started out, but it has turned out to be a real gem.As far as voting goes..........it's a crapshoot. If people get out the alias's etc....it'll take away from the validty, but I guess that's part of the system. I'm proud of my squad of 10, it's a solid lineup. If all I could eat are my 10 cereals for the rest of my breakfast life, I'd bet set.I think someone mentioned earlier possible choices for Overall No. 1 cereals that you could have selected........and in his list Fruit Loops and Trix were mentioned for NO.1 Overall......they are my first 2 choices....which I feel stack up against any.Throw in a couple monster cereals in Count Chocula and Frute Brute, Life, a cheerios selection, and the Big German in the 10th round, my draft is as good as anyone's.I don't know if geography or age has anything to do with people perceptions of cereals, but I'm in my early/mid 30's and have always lived in Detroit.

My last pick, of an otherwise abysmal draft, as some like to think...

10.08 - Product 19

Product 19 - which is an old school cereal that was popularized due to it's presence in the Kelloggs variety pack. The variety pack included Froot Loops, Corn Pops, Raisin Bran, Special K and Product 19. Product 19 was always the last cereal eaten, mainly because it was so unwanted compared to the other cereals included in the pack.

Choosing Product 19 would give me the entire variety pack (minus Froot Loops), that has to account for something. :(

So how will the voting be done?

By the way, I can't find any mother ####ing Frankenberry in this town. Wal-Mart Superstore has the Count, but neither Frankenberry or Booberry. This is upsetting as this thread has given me quite the hankering for some. Had to pick up some Smacks instead, another cereal I haven't had for years.All-time cereal draft...good for the FFA, and good for the economy.

Still trying to figure it out. Even if we split it up into 2 divisions with 5 teams in each poll, isn't that still quite a bit of info for people to wade through? Here is what I think would be the best, although I don't know if the FFA could handle this:

1st round: 5 polls, each pairing 2 teams. 5 winning teams plus 3 losers with highest vote totals move to round 2.

2nd round: 4 polls, 4 winners advance.

3rd round: 2 polls, 2 winners advance.

4th round: 1 poll for championship.

Too over the top?

Yes...over the top.Any time you start listing multiple polls, it gets monotonous. Stick with one or two polls.

 Or...........we could just eliminate rikishiboy and Wheelhouse now and do an 8 team bracket.

(if not, please match me up with one of the aforementioned teams)

Before you put me under the bus, my team is not all that bad...

1.3 Donutz Cereal - I wasn't aware of the magnitude of this draft and went for a childhood favorite and potential crowd pleaser. It's obvious that it wasn't received well.

2.8 Corn Pops - IMO, a solid cereal, very well liked among all people.

3.3 Raisin Bran - A mainstay in the cereal tradition.

4.8 Special K - Another mainstay in cereals, but not as popular as Raisin Bran

5.3 Frosted Rice Krispies - When I want Rice Krispies, I go for this Frosted variety. The regular Rice Krispies is extremely popular, but the frosted version tastes better.

6.8 Rice Krispies Treats Cereal - Have you tried these? Very good.

7.3 Pac Man - Nostalgia item here. I figured I needed to have at least one nostalgia cereal.

8.8 Cinnamon Mini-Buns Cereal - A forgotten cereal of the 80's, 90's. A good find for this spot in the draft, IMO

9.3 Waffle-O's - Another great find. Quite possibly the better cereal than the already picked Waffle Crisp.

10.8 Product 19 - Added another cereal from the Kellogg's variety pack. How many of you can say the same with your cereals?

I have 2 fairly pitiful cereals - Donutz, which I admit was a mistake and Pac Man, which was a reach for the nostalgia item. The other cereals on my roster are all legit cereals many of which have a rich tradition either by name or by recognition.

So, no I don't have a collection of gimmick cereals that lasted on the shelves for it's 15 minutes of fame like Urkel-O's or Scooby Doo Berry Bones or Sir Grapefellow, but I do have well known cereals, maybe moreso than any other roster.

I don't even think this needs a vote. I think it's hard to not notice Shuke's roster as the most dominant.

1.6 Cinnamon Toast Crunch

2.5 Golden Grahams

3.6 Sugar Smacks/Honey Smacks/Smacks

4.5 Booberry

5.6 Reese's Puffs

6.5 Crispix

7.6 Frosted Wheaties

8.5 Cinnamon Life

9.6 Donkey Kong

10.5 OJ's

Everyone else's roster, but Shuke and myself went to crap at about round 6 or 7. I vote Shuke as the undisputed winner. Not that I deserve 2nd place, I don't, but at least I maintained my course of picking legit cereals. As did Shuke. My vote goes to Shuke.

Job well done on the commish role as well.
