***** ALL-TIME NBA/ABA DRAFT ***** (Scoobus is Champion!) (1 Viewer)

nice. was worried my 60s team was going to fall too far, and been looking a bit. Found a guy i briefly remember from watching old tapes, and thankful that i remembered when i saw his name and he was still there:

10.16   Zelmo beaty

He averaged better than 17 points and 11 rebounds during his days with the Hawks,

75% from the FT line

2 all star games when all the studs of Wilt nd the rest were dominating the league
one of the NBA's first dominant big men.

Sounds fake

ugh, was trying to avoid another guard, but i don't want to let this guy slip away. Guy was one of the top guards of the decade definitely, then injuries started to slow him down fast. Grabbing him the decade before the injuries started coming in

Deron Williams - the Utah years  - 00s, PG

getting sleepy so don't hve the sell for him, but he was averaging a few steals and over 10 assists a game 5 of the 6 years in Utah. i remember when he went to the Nets and it was made out to be one of the biggest moves over  few years in the NBA.

gives me a filthy backcourt with him and AI. Deron also had upper 30s for good part of his career from 3

Nice pick. Once you have your pantheon team filled, it doesn’t matter how many guards (or like me, centers) you pick in a row. Just have to fill out those decades teams now.

that actually sniped me

Bill Sharmon, G , 60s and before

I know, I know, a Celtic. But he’s too great to pass up. And he does have a little bit of a Lakers legacy as well (as coach of perhaps the greatest team ever.)

@wikkidpissah

We're in the portion of the draft where I haven't heard of any of the old timers. This is like the GOAT movie draft when I though people were making up movie title to mess with me.

I PM'd wikkid.  If he doesn't show up in ten minutes, I have to get to bed.  Officiating a sectional HS game tomorrow night and don't want to be too tired.

No worries.

We’re already one third of the way through the drafting and we just started the clock (checks notes) . . . yesterday.

11.03 Karl-Anthony Towns C (moving BenThereMissedThat to F) 2010s

Was surprised, in my Beal research, to find that KAT actually played half that decade. What a waste. Even tho he aint half the player and barely seems to care (NOTHING harshes a young man's chill these days...FAX) , he gotta be singin' the KG Blues already.

sry, Frosty. (ETA: #BlameZelmo)

I stared and stared and stared at him for a good half-hour yesterday thinking that I should probably take him but just couldn't do it.

Jimmy Buckets was right, the dude is just soft.

11.04 - Andre Iguadola SF 10's

A good glue guy, and if I'm going to compete for the top spot in 2010s, I need somebody that can match up at least a little bit with LeBron and have some championship experience.

Iggy was a two-time all defensive team member, an All-star, a three-time champion and a Finals MVP.  He will do the job on the wing that Horford does in the paint and that is whatever it takes to win.

This probably isn’t the right pick if I’m trying to win this thing. But once I started with 2 players from the 50s-60s I knew I wouldn’t have a chance just give recency bias. So I’m going to continue to have fun with it.

I now have my dream all offense, make it a race to 120 every night with an 80s squad that can score from everywhere on the court and do it with style.

11.05 Tom Chambers PF 80s

4x All Star, 2x All NBA

6’10” freak who at his peak was giving you 25/8/5/3/1/1 on 50% shooting and 85% from the line. Was a great jump shooter with an underutilized 3 point range. Was an absolute monster attacking the basket in traffic and was about as dangerous on the fast break as any player of the era. Between him and Dominique, the paint will be a scary place for defenders.

@Frostillicus up

Reading through the comments on the draft sheet and this one is my favorite:

Russell Westbrook - "waves off Dr. J to take another contested 10 footer"

:lmao:

Yeah, i'm in a similar boat with the 60s and 70s guys. Having to look a lot up. Know a few, but funny when i look them up and they aren't on any top all time list. Think i will break out some of those surprises soon

Movie draft I was good, here there’s definitely a lot of research and YouTube. I’ve gone back and watched a ton of old movies. Can’t say I’ve gone back and watched old NBA seasons.

Ugh.  He was my target.

Ugh.  He was my target.
I didn't trust him to make it back to me and he was a key part to my overall draft plans.  I think he was drafted a round too early based on who is still out there in other eras, but I needed him more than those other guys.

Joe Johnson. Write up later.
11.6 SG Joe Johnson, 10s (may slot into 00s later)

Well, all 3 guys I was thinking of are still there, which means you are all dumb, so I'll go with the great shooter. He has 7 All-Star Appearances with 3 coming in 00s and 4 in the 10s, and his all-NBA team is in the 10s so I am going with the 10s for now.

Career numbers: 16.0ppg, 4.0rpg, 3.9apg, .497 eFG%, Peak: 19.8ppg, 4.0rpg, 4.7apg, .602 eFG%. 7x All Star, 1x All-NBA. 12th in NBA History in made 3s. Never a defensive stud, but never a liability either, he gives me another stud shooter to put around Lebron in the 10s who can also play some defense and rebound, and do a little bit of everything. Like an Andre Iguadala with a killer jumpshot.

2010s team:

PG:

SG: Joe Johnson

SF: Lebron

PF: Kevin Love

C - Lamarcus Aldridge

So I started watching basketball in the 80s, was most into it in the 90s (including a lot of reading about the history), kind of stopped watching in the 00s, and fell back in love in the 10s. My draft reflects this.

I had it narrowed down to 2 guys and was hoping someone would take one to make it easier for me. But I'm going with the playmaker that dishes out more assists...

11.07 - Stephon Marbury, PG, 2000

"Starbury" gets me 22 points and 8.5 dimes a night.

I was just about posting that he had already been taken.  Didn't realize it was you that took him...hahaa

My 2000's squad:

PG - Stephon Marbury
SG - Kobe Bryant
SF - Shawn Marion
PF - Andrei Kirilenko
C - Elton Brand

I don't see a weakness, but please don't poke holes. Let me enjoy my handiwork.

00 team stats

Kind of a team built for the early 00s where shooting was less of a concern, pace was slow, and defense was paramount.

i was going to say the opposite - not a lot of size for that packed-in age before the Geniuses of Basketball realized, after only 25 yrs, that 3 was 1 more than 2. also wont be long before a member of that backcourt calls the Agent Zero Hotline for a gun.. hella squad, tho

It’s way better than my 00s squad that’s for sure
