Pressey is widely, though unofficially, credited with being the originator of the point forward position, combining the attributes of a point guard and forward. While playing small forward for the Milwaukee Bucks in the 1980s, Pressey took on many of the ball handling duties, even leading the team in assists for five straight years. He participated in the 1986 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, finishing in 6th place out of 8.
Pressey served as a model for later players taking on the point forward role.
I think Pressey fits well with my late start 80's squad as a defensive stopper and he can handle and distribute the ball since I still don't have a PG yet.

Over his basketball career Perkins was unusually adaptive and played vastly different roles at each level of his basketball career and with the various teams he played on. In today’s game he’d be a stretch 5 that would drive teams crazy with his versatility on both sides of the court. At various points in the NBA he played power forward, center, and even a decent run at small forward in 1989-90.
Sadly, Perkins has the distinction of appearing in the third-most playoff games without winning an NBA Championship (behind Malone & Stockton). For our purposes, Sam Perkins (aka, Sleepy Sam, Big Smooth, The Big Easy) played alongside fellow 1980s teammates Derek Harper and Michael Cooper during his career and will do so again here.

Ultimately the success of this team will come down to how you feel about David Thompson's career being derailed but not totally wrecked by cocaine and Bill Walton's insanely short peak due to bad feet. Working under the assumption that they are awesome and we are working off of their peaks, this team can really compete. Four of the five are HOFers and Washington is the kind of hard nosed role player the team needs. Scoring should come easy - with Westphal, Thompson, and Walton there is plenty of athleticism and skill to run the break and attack in the half court. The back court isn't going to set the world on fire, but the front court should make up for that. I assume that Scoobus' team will play us 4-5 because Tomjanovich won't leave the locker room (once he drafts 4 more players).

Been looking at this guy for a few rounds. No time for a real write-up —enough to say that he’s getting better every season and over the past two seasons, he’s improved markedly on some of his deficiencies.
