Allergies! (1 Viewer)

Never in my life have I had noticeable allergies.  The last few days though my throat is sore as hell, back of the nose hurts, my eyes are dry as ####, and I'm sneezing constantly.  Only sleeping a few hours at night.  What in hell is going on?  Is this just reason number 1,000 why getting old sucks?  I had to use eye drops and Zirtek this morning because I can't take it anymore.

Cut down all the ####### trees and flowers already!!

My poor son gets them every year at this time and his just started yesterday. I give him allegra, eye drops, and flonase. I feel so bad for him.

get this: Neilmed Sinus Rinse

Used to take allergy pills every day and still had allergy symptoms. Started using this daily after my shower, and now I rarely take a pill anymore, except for the occasional outbreak if I get into some dust.  I do keep a bottle of generic Flonase on hand in the spring, because if I ingest any pollen, it sends me into a sneezing fit and Flonase will stop it in a few seconds.

This has been the worst year ever allergy-wise for me.  Started a few weeks ago. About 12 years a ago it was bad for a few years and I took Flonase which really worked with no side effects. I can't take Claritin or any other anti-histamines because they make my heart beat about 200 times a minute. About 8-10 years went by with only mild allergy seasons for me until last year when it got bad again.  Got Flonase which is generic now and that worked ok.  These last few weeks have been much worse than last year.  Still have some Flonase which I snorted the last few days.  Usually by June it all subsides but definitely a horrid year for nasal allergies.  I'm as anti-meds as they come but Flonase I don't have an issue with.

I had very bad hay fever as a kid and took allergy shots which helped.  I am 42 now, and about 4 or 5 years ago I started having allergic reactions on my face once a week or so.  I would wake up with my upper nose swolen to the point my eyelids were swelling over the corner of my eyes.  Sometimes my lip was swollen out huge or my toungue was swollen.  I went to the allergist and they did a bunch of test and they couldn't figure out what it is.  They told me to take Allegra 24 hour each day and that has helped.  However, it still happens 2 or 3 times a month.

I am not sure if it is a food allergy or what.  I did notice the last two times I took advil I swelled up.  I switched to tylenol and it has been better.  Very frustrating.

My son was like that too, ended up having to get him tested by an allergist and now he gets allergy shots.  He is 11 now and has been getting them for two years.   Doesn't have to take any of the spray, drops, allegra and is doing much better.

Damn. I used to take allergy shots weekly and they did nothing for me. I didn't want to put my son through that just for one month of suffering. Plus he hates shots. I thought about it though. Hes 6

Update:  I still feel like ####.

The Zirtek helped some this morning but I think it's worn off.  And you can only take one per day?  WTF kind of medicine is that?  How can I properly pop pills if there's only one pill for me to pop?

8am meeting with the CEO and CFO tomorrow that's scheduled for 4 hours.  And I swore off booze a week ago so I can't even resort to that.  I'm probably going to be an ####### tomorrow and get fired.  Oh well, more time to browse and marvel at the technical wonder that is the FFA.

Real talk, go to the European Wax Center and get your nose hairs waxed out. I went in just for the cosmetic effect, but it had a huge side effect on my allergies. When my nose hairs started growing back and the allergies returned, I did it again with the same result.

Update Update:  I will get some Flonase but figured I couldn't take it yesterday due to the stupid 1 pill per day rule.  Took a Tylenol PM instead, slept fitfully until around 3:30 and I've been up working since (kill me...).  The back of my throat is on fire and I woke up shivering like mad.  Figured I really had the flu so I took my temp twice and got readings of 97.7 both times, wtf?  Even took a bath to feel warmer/better.

Do allergies make the back of your throat really sore like you have a bad cold/flu?

Why when I am at the height of my experience and wisdom, with so much to teach and pass on to the next generation, is my body betraying me?  Who set this system up?

Nasonex and eyedrops here.  Take your meds at night and wash your hair before going to bed.  If it gets really bad do the sinus rinse as well

Wash my hair before bed?  Do you think I'm some kind of heathen?  I can't be waking up to wet head bed head.

I will start taking the freaking meds at night.  Used the eyedrops yesterday, they were lovely.

Pollen counts are highest in the AM so it's best to have the meds flowing when you wake up, not take them and wait for it get back into your bloodstream.

Your hair absorbs a lot of pollen throughout the day, best to get that crap out.

yes, wash your head before going to bed.  also, with your severe outbreak, I would also recommend a manicure and pedicure weekly.  also, I would likely do laundry daily as most sufferers do.  change the HVAC filters in your house monthly too.  lastly, you might need eyebrow threading and nose hair waxing.

Anybody else in the mid-Atlantic getting it bad over the last week? Basically feels like head cold that comes and goes. ####### sucks to wake up to every morning.

Pro-Tip:  Use it in the shower.  The water is already the right temp, and clean up is a breeze!

Been sleeping with the windows shut and ac on for months. Only in the last week started sleeping with ac off and windows open. Waking up in the morning, can't breath and feel like head got hit with a brick. So wiped out today.
