Is it appropriate to allow your large dog to urinate on the street near a house? What say ye?
One of my neighbors sent a sternly worded email to the neighborhood. They accuse a specific(but unidentified) neighbor of allowing their large dog to urinate in the street near their house despite being asked(told?) not to. They don't like the smell of dog urine in the street and dislike seeing the asphalt stained. They included pictures of wet(allegedly from dog urine) asphalt in the email. They want the dog's owner to find some nearby pinestraw for the dog to go in or get the dog to wait until it's around the corner and out of the cul-de-sac on the main road. Our driveways are short, say 1 - 3 car lengths so front doors and garages are fairly close to the road.
I don't own a dog so I'm not the culprit and I don't know which neighbor they are talking about(I have an idea but don't care enough to investigate.) Don't dogs usually find somewhere softer than the middle of an asphalt road? I have an aunt that doesn't pick up her dog's poo, even when confronted, but I've never heard of people having problems with dogs urinating in the street. What's the protocol for dog urination when walking your dog in the street?
I find the situation a bit comical, but at least one of my neighbors is upset enough to attempt to find allies in confronting the large dog owner.
