Although most people won't start him due to preseason concerns... (1 Viewer)

You just know that Chad Ochocinco is going to grab a couple of touchdowns on opening season Monday Night Football against Miami.

I have a gut feeling that a lot of points will be left on the bench... including mine most likely. Anyone else feel this way?

i was thinking the exact same thing. brady to ocho in prime time (and season opener) is too good to pass up. perfect opportunity for a multi td game. luck = opportunity + yadda yadda

David Yudkin feels that you should bench him until he proves he can put up starter's points. But I'm starting him until he duds me, not the other way around. My gut has been saying he's going to make some noise in that offense and I'm going with it. Chad is too determined not to succeed in NE. Like he said himself, it's been just three weeks since he's been there and the NE Offense is much more complex than the Cincy O. I have a feeling he'll get it just in time for kickoff Monday night.

Too many question marks at this point.
That's what every one said about Randy Moss his first year with the Pats. How'd that turn out?Ochocinco is likely going to be a WR2 this year. Unless you have all WR/flex spots filled with top 25 guys, I think he is a starter for whoever drafted him. He'd start for both of my fantasy teams, but I don't own him in either of them.

:goodposting: Benching him week 1 is likely leaving one of his best games of the season out of your lineup.

Hey Irwin, could you please put Ochocinco's name in the title so people can see who the thread is about? It'll make the thread more useful and probably generate more discussion that way. Thanks!

In the 12 team leagues I am in, the teams that have Ocho will be starting him. There just isn't the depth at WR in a 3 WR league to really leave him on the bench.

I've been wanting to ask this for a while and this seems like as appropriate a thread to hijack as any, how do you edit the title/subtitle of a post?

Thanks, not sure how I missed trying that. :bag:

Some people still love to make thread titles in the style of "WOW SECRET INFO HERE U BETTER CLICK IT" but now that this board has thread preview I'm like nah brah.

:goodposting: If you think Ocho will have a bounce-back season, you might as well start him. If you think he's washed up, leave him on your bench.

Funny thing is I don't see any evidence to the contrary that he's going to suck? He's struggling to learn the playbook? Well yeah, he's in a new offense/new team this year. It's going to take a little bit to gel. I think he is Brady's red zone threat while Welker gets him the yards to get him to the red zone. He may not have over 1000 rec yards but I think he'll hit the 10 TD mark if not more. Really no basis to why he is being labelled over hyped.

Agree, we are talking about a guy who has NEVER had less than 1000 yards when he played a full season. And now Tom Brady is his QB. At 33 age is a slight concern but he should still have a solid year or two left in him.

I don't like Ochocinco at all this year, especially against the Dolphins who have an excellent secondary. I think Chad will be good for a few breakout games but the majority of the season will be a dissapointment for fantasy owners. He doesn't seem to have a good grasp of the Patriots offense and he is more of a free lance WR and not a precise route runner. He will break free for a few scores but I can't see more then 700 yards and 6 TDs with all of the mouths to feed in New England.

Gronk is Brady's Red zone target

This has nothing to do with Ocho's season outlook. He can be completely washed up, and it won't matter... it's entirely in Belichick's style to use the big-game MNF opportunity to open the season by forcing balls Ocho's way for some showy grabs, forcing future opponents to cover him more than would be expected. Belichick would do it in game 1 then not throw more than 3 times Ocho's way in a game all season, just to try and "outsmart" the rest of their schedule.

One thing I did to hedge my 85 bet was to grab Aaron Hernandez off my waiver wire. They are using him mostly as a WR this year and yet he is listed as a TE.

I was feeling good starting Kendricks and am holding him for depth and match-up play. I feel good enough about Brady and this offense to start 85 and Hernandez, especially when they face bad defenses.

And if 85 fades into dust, it will probably coincide with a Colston-like emergence for Hernandez so I feel better in that sense too.

I still say at least for now Ocho is closer to Joey Galloway than he is to Randy Moss. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't get the warm and fuzzies over Ocho right now.

'Phins DB's are solid to excellent. I don't see Ocho doing much week 1 given his reported lack of comfort w/ the offense. The young TE's on the other hand....

:lmao: :lmao:You guys remember this is the Patriots, right? We are talking about the jedi master and he is mind tricking all of you. Ocho is hands down the best WR on the team and it will play out accordingly. Does anyone remember what the reports were on Randy Moss before 2007? Supposedly he wasn't even practicing and there were rumors he would be cut before the season. Then 20 TD's later, we were all scratching our heads wondering how we could have missed it.

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice.......you can't get fooled again.

One problem: Ocho is NOT Randy Moss.

Yes, Moss and Dillon worked out for the Pats, but they have had their share of misses. Galloway, Holt, LaMont Jordan, Fred Taylor, a bunch of free agent signings on defense, plenty of wasted draft picks, etc.

We shall see what we shall see . . .
