It felt good on Draft Night but now you have to actually start'em...Who Should I Start Thread "OFFICIALLY UNOFFICIAL" (1 Viewer)

Should I start the guys I drafted to be starters? Presume no injuries.

I’m leaning toward doing this. Am I crazy? Should I talk myself out of it?

I have a strong bench with considerable upside if that helps. TIA

Let’s review this tried and true philosophy by examining my internal dialogue prior to Week 1.
  1. Will you be starting your starting TE? He’s been limited in practice. Looks like your backup might see more targets bc the starter missed a few weeks of practice after getting in a car accident. My starting TE is fine, his HC said he’ll be good to go by Sunday. Isaiah Likely isn’t just my backup TE, he’s the Ravens backup TE. He generally only sees volume when Andrews misses the game.
  2. The starting 5 (3 WR, 2 RB) are set but how do you feel about the Flex? Your aging RB3 is likely going to cede more touches to last years rookie sensation, AND he’s due for major TD regression. Maybe start the 2nd yr WR who just might be the WR1 on one of the league’s best offenses? Good points, and honestly I’ve been going back n forth all week. I drafted the WR because I took him with the thought I want to start 4 WRs. My studies & other deeper analysis indicates the old saw “RBs are better in the Flex than WRs bc more touches” is super wrong & it’s not close. Turns out high value touches trump volume. My projections clearly favor the WR. Most sites have them neck n neck. FBGs I respect clearly favor Mostert. Both have + matchups. Jayden Reed was great for me last year & the film matches the production. But really smart people think Watson getting targeted more late season & playoffs (when Reed’s shoulder was dinged up) is a tell that he’s the real WR1. Alright, I don’t want to start the week with a dud international game (heard they’re worried about the turf.) The Miami starting RB seems like the safer play.
  3. Boy that sucked. 67.20 points on the bench, wow. Just wow. What was your process again? SHUT. UP.

Javonte Williams @ SEA
Jaxson Smith-Njigba v. DEN
Trey McBride @ BUF

Need one (1).

PPR, 6 pts for TDs, 1 pt for every 10 rushing/receiving, 5 pt bonus @ 100 yards and 10 recpts, Bonuses for long TDs

Special scoring for TEs - i.e., 7 pts for TDs, 5 pt bonus at 70 yards, etc. (I. Likely scored 41 points in our league)

Have McBride active rn. thx

With those rules I'd stick with McBride.

one more for the peanut gallery:

Higgins doubtful

Do I flex in
A. BT Jr, Najee, Warren, Spears

Have BTJ in at the moment hoping for a shootout.
Oh you're starting Brian Thomas with those names this week.
I don't know what to expect from the Steelers offense and there's a 25% chance that everyone is wrong and they actually run a competent football game
What happens when Fields takes the field as their starting QB today, they say Wilson is likely to not play.
Does that change things or open up more holes for Harris?

Thomas is a rookie and I expect Kirk to see a ton of targets today as well. Miami doesn't have the worst secondary either
Whether it's a shootout or Jax is playing from behind, would seem like most of that passing attack today is a good option.
I don't think Davis, Kirk and Thomas will all walk off the field with 100 yds today but it should be an Air Raid at Hard Rock in that heat
Really shoulda listened to my gut and started Brian Thomas Jr. :wall:
