Am I crazy for targeting Julius Jones? (1 Viewer)

I'm in 7 different fantasy leagues and I got Julius Jones in pretty much all of them. He's not my #1 or #2 or even #3 running back in most leagues but I plan I starting him in my flex spot or a bye week fill in on most weeks. I like his situation, Mora pretty much said he's going to give him the rock and it's his job to lose plus also said he's committed to the run. This guy isn't coming off the boards till the LATE rounds... I think he's going to be a bargain for his ADP. If I can get 800 yards and 6 TD's from him, which I think is a modest prediction... why not?

I don't know the Seahawks too well but from what I gather from various discussions on Sirius, the Seattle OL is going to be pretty bad this year and Edge should play a decent amount given how good he is with pass protection and catching out of the backfield.

I'm not really putting all my eggs in the "Julius Jones Basket" but I'm just saying for his ADP, he should be decent value. I understand why he's not getting "Love" but he looks like bang for the buck considering where you can grab him.

My projection....

-14.5 rush attempts a game over a 16 game schedule would be 232 rush attempts and at 4.4 ypc (which he did last season would put Jones at 1020 yards rushing on the season, and tack on 5 rushing TD's

-2 caches a game over the 16 game schedule would be 32 receptions, at 7 ypc would be 224 yards and 1 recieving TD

-1020 rushing yards

-224 recieving yards

-1244 total yards

-6 total TD's

As long as you have another backup RB or two that has a big upside, i say why not? You pretty much know what you're getting from Jones. Nothing spectacular, but nothing horrendous either. Kind of like Mo Morris a couple years back.

any time you get a 'workhorse' back,as Mora described him, playing against Rams, Niners, Az 6x/yr, he's without a doubt worthy of a roster spot. if for nothing else, at least get him for games against these pathetic run defenses..

he's going to be a great spot duty player..

In my draft, Jones represented exceptionally good value and I picked him up as my 4th RB in Round 9. I don't expect huge numbers, but I think people are undervaluing him right now.

Thomas Jones Ver. 2.0?

I'm in as a RB4/5. Great late value IMO. And people think Edge is gonna steal carries? Dude got cut by ARZ, he's got nothing left

Glad I'm not the only one.. I saw his cakewalk of a schedule.. he's playing wet toilet paper defense with virtually no downside. People that are drafting him are usually getting him as their #4 back.. I have him behind Chris Johnson, MJD, Marshawn Lynch.. he probably won't see any playing time after week 3 on my fantasy squad... but hopefully after a few good outings he even has trade value in redraft..

Dude got signed by the Seahawk and TJ Duckett was let go. JJ has never been a pillar of health and has not been very effective except his one year in Dallas. Moreover with Forsett being the third down back and catching the ball not even the PPR format can get JJ the value needed for a starter. He might have a good game every once in while, but I do not think that his production will be predictable enough to be able to put him in the starting line with any confidence.

ETA: In he final six games he played in last season his highest rushing total was 37 yards and he caught one ball for -5 yards.

What has changed this year from last year? Nada.

I find myself choosing between him and Hightower late... Not sure I can differentiate between the two... Anyone have a feeling one way or the other???

Hightower has a first round rb playing behind him vs Jones who was Forsett and Edge. If Jones plays well its his job as Edge and Forsett will probably not out play him. If Hightower plays well he still could lose his job to Wells who will probably be better.

I don't think you're crazy, but I think Forsett takes that job by mid-season. If it's PPR, you want Forsett, as he will be the guy on 3rd downs, and possibly more.

While the OL has iues they are healthier than last year, where all 5 game 1 starters ended the year on IR, and they had a starter end his career in pre-season.

I don't think he'll be able to hold off James for long. James looked terrible at times in Arizona last year, but their line is terrible at run blocking. Seattle should have more running room, and James can still be somewhat productive if given some room to run, while Jones has never been anything more than pedestrian. Granted, I don't see James being anything to write home about, either, but I think he's still better than Jones.

Holmgren benched him the last 5 games. Morris started the last five and saw the most playing time. I would hold on to JJ. Greg Knapp said it wlll take about six weeks for the running game to hit full speed. By then the OL will be back together from injuries. Trade him after he has a huge game, or keep him while he's hot.
