Hope it turns out to be false.

The Amarillo Police Department have confirmed an active shooter situation at the Walmart on I-27 and Georgia.

Police are asking the public to stay away from the area so officers can focus on the scene instead of traffic.

APD and other agencies are on the scene.

Our ABC 7 news team have confirmed the Amarillo Police Department are evacuating people out of the West side of the building. The shooter is believed to have taken hostages.

Didn't realize there was already a topic for this, sorry in advance.  The Muslim man was a middle aged male, and had apparently had a prior problem with the manager.  Luckily, local law enforcement was able to take him down without any casualties.  I am from Amarillo and lived there my childhood life before leaving for Las Vegas and ultimately the military.  I've been into that same Wal-Mart many times, even my sister was there last week.  Crazy to think about.  I couldn't be more proud of my City and my State for acting swiftly and avoiding another mass shooting.  This might not get national attention since people weren't innocently slaughtered, but these heroes deserve it.  Today, they saved American lives.
