Amazon now running ads, commentary on greedy capitalism (1 Viewer)

The economics have never made sense to me. How does Amazon produce content and make money on it? Movies hope to recover expense in ticket sales. I would have prime either way .

It’s to keep prime members because they continue to spend more as well as they do have customers who just subscribe to Prime Video. Same with TNF. I would also have Prime either way.

I'm really thinking of cancelling prime. They still have free shipping if you order over some minimum dollar amount like $25 or $35. I could easily just hold off on ordering until I have enough things to meet the minimum. I barely used prime video anyway, and would use it even less with commercials. I do use amazon music quite a bit...every time I'm in my car and often via our home's smart speaker. I'd have to find an alternative for music. The free versions of spotify or amazon music both suck, imo.

Used one of those amazon drop boxes for the 1st time today. Very convenient. It was just at a circle k gas station a few blocks from my airbnb. Could've probably just had it delivered here, but wanted to try out the service.

I'm getting more and more fed up with Amazon's delivery crap. I order A LOT from Amazon - usually multiple orders a week for odds and ends. What gets me is they push for this "Amazon Delivery Day," to reduce the number of packages, etc. but from what I've seen, more often than not, when I order over the course of a week and lump orders into one delivery day, they're then late delivering the entire order.

I had a few things that weren't urgent that I ordered over the weekend and up through Monday...Could've had them all next-day, but I said, you know what? I only need them for Thursday, so I'll just get them all on Wednesday. Well...now, nothing is out for delivery. Just sitting at a warehouse somewhere. I guess that's what I get for trying to be helpful with their deliveries.

Does anybody else notice this trend? The more time I give them to deliver things, the more likely they are to miss that delivery date.

So I flicked on Amazon last night, basically said "If you hate ads like we know you do, pay us $2.99 per month and they'll disappear"

And all I can think about is "How f****** greedy is this country?" We know who owns Amazon. We know he is the richest person on Earth. And still, no matter what, the money is just never enough. Probably going to cause me to cancel b/c honestly, Amazon Prime is not that great anyway, and with football season over, this s*** and f*** the f*** off for all I care. Reacher sucks! The format they have is not great. I'm just wondering how quickly others are going to follow suit.

Very annoyed.
Amazon will continue to push until the consumer pushes back.

I don’t have Prime, but I’ve noticed Amazon’s regular deliveries have been slower. But it absolutely makes sense that lump deliveries will be later, on average.

I've never understood the value to me to do this so I've never opted for it.

They sometimes have an option now where if you have a Prime Visa card they will give you extra cashback for pushing back delivery but even then most of the time I am like screw it I'd rather have it 2 days earlier than an extra $0.60

I ordered a game for my little grandson's 3rd bday:

Order placed
October 9, 2024
Delivered October 22

After waiting and waiting I had my daughter order it through Prime and it came the next day. So Amazon had to pay for the return of the one that took forever.

I've done that before too. Item just seemed to get "stuck" on the initial order, and they wouldn't refund it until it was delivered, so I just ordered it again and it came the next day. The first one came a few days later.

It’s amazing to me that we’d get to this point in our society where we have the ability to click a button, have something delivered directly to our doorstep, and then still manage to find a reason to complain about it.

There are lots of things to complain about with that model in my opinion.
