I've been largely disappointed by the TV/movie selections. There just isn't much there.
If it weren't for the HBO stuff, it would be total ####.
The movie selection is pretty weak but they have some great TV series that Netflix doesn't have.
Like what? Not that I need anything right now, still need to work my way through Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Band of Brothers.

I don't really understand the logic on Prime Video. I guess TV shows are cheaper, but I want movies, not TV. Very little differentiation from Netflix, IMO.
The main differentiation from Netflix is free two-day shipping on a huge variety of retail items.
I personally can never find anything I'd like to watch in the Prime Video selection. Maybe just my taste though. Searching for Prime items may be a pain also -- by default Amazon doesn't allow you to filter search results by Prime price. So I end up going to http://www.sortbyprime.com to do that, kind of a pain, but at least with that thing I can make the Prime benefit work for me.

their selection is awful compared to netflix but they do have one season of orphan black for free and they also have justified

I've already seen all of Justified.

Does Prime spoil you for other online purchases? I was going to purchase something thru a friend via Pampered Chef. I know that PC tends to be pricey to begin with, but I figured I’d be nice and help her business start. It was going to add $10 for shipping and tax (8/2) for a $30 item. Forgetting the fact that it wouldn’t be 2nd day air.

Noticed an option for shipping which I had not noticed before

As a Prime customer you can opt for a one week delivery time for items instead of two day shipping and get a $1 credit for digital books and movies etc

I ordered some LED light bulbs which I was not in a rush to get and opted for this option.

Then thought of a way to capitalize on this.. I ordered 5 of them and got $1 back but had I ordered them all separately I would have gotten $5 back still with free shipping

Next time

You can actually order all 5 separately but ont he 5th one choose your usual Prime option. Chances are, they will all ship together.

Anyone done the "Amazon Mom" thing yet? Looks to be Amazon prime, with a few small bonuses (discount on diapers and discount off anything on your baby registry) for the same cost as Amazon Prime alone. Any experiences with it?

I'm starting to think I may cancel my prime. Not sure i use it enough. I may let it go this year and then figure it out. I order a lot of accessories, but I think I could batch them to get to the free shipping. The two day is nice, but I would just have to remember to order things a bit earlier or just wait. I don't use Prime Videos at all anymore. I have HBO Go now as well and every time I check Prime Videos, I barely ever see a new movie that I haven't already seen. Not sure it's worth it anymore.

Yeah I did this for some switch plate covers I ordered. 4.50 each and prime eligible. Needed 6 and got 6 dollars in credit. Weird how the add on items are chosen,

We just started Six Feet under last weekend. Already through season 1. Only saw scattered episodes years ago.

I watch too much tv. Will say I have been surprised how entertaining The Good Wife is. Each season gets better. In Season 5 now, which has been the best one so far. Fireworks.

I always saw The Good Wife as that CBS Julian Margulies show. Neither of which got me excited. It's like the present-day LA Law. For a 22-episode network show their is surprisingly little filler.

Good show for something to watch with the wifey.

Agree and I would say that Juliana Marguiles might even be the weakest link in that cast.

USPS really dropping the ball on prime packages , at least around these parts
One of the three fuses on my dryer blew last week. I'm in a smallish community so these kind of parts aren't always local. I called two appliance repair guys. One had it, but wouldn't sell it. He wanted the work. I'd already taken it apart and put the multimeter on the fuses to find the bad one. The other guy could have it in two days for $20. I called Sears, three to five days. Home Depot was happy to order me a kit for $30 with all 3 three fuses. I typed the part number on the fuse into Amazon's search box. $6.64 and Prime. One clicked it at 11:45 am. Had it before 2pm the next day. I'm done bothering with tons of stuff locally.

Nice new addition to Amazon Music now with Prime Stations. Sounds like it's basically like the paid version of Pandora (no ads like the free version).

As a Prime Member, you now get unlimited access to Prime Stations -- an ad-free, internet radio service you can enjoy at no additional cost to your Prime membership.

With Prime Stations, you can find a genre or artist you like and hit play to hear a continuous stream of music that you can pause, replay, or skip as many times as you'd like. As you listen and give songs a thumbs-up or thumbs-down, each station will adapt to your music tastes.

Love this so far. Had a 3+hour delay at the airport yesterday and a few hours today and really enjoyed power rock. Its scary how well a few likes tailored the content to stuff I've listened to since the 90s. Is there a way to add artists to a "station"? I can't find a way and would like some Breaking Benjamin and Seether to cycle into the power rock line up. :headbang:

I have an item that is 2 days past it's delivery date. I'd like it for a work trip on Sunday. It's being delivered by the USPS. I chatted with a rep and he said he called the carrier and they said it would be delivered tomorrow. Should I believe that he called the rep and the USPS will deliver it tomorrow or just order another one with Saturday delivery? I have 2 hours to order. The chat rep also said he refunded the full cost of the item ($31.57). It would cost $39.99 to have one delivered tomorrow.

Some great Amazon original shows for kids:

Annedroids (focused on a different aspect of science every episode)

Gortimer Gibbons - teen show that also ok for younger kids

Creative Galaxy (art show for kids that encourages creativity)

Just Add Magic (one episode but full season ordered) - good show for 6-11 aged girls

Stinky and Dirty (one episode but full season ordered) - another science focused show

been having increased problems with my fire stick over the past few weeks (dropping network, sound, etc). getting really annoying

Just cut my Spotify Premium sub in exchange for an Amazon Prime membership. I loved Spotify Premium, but I'm finding myself ordering more and more from Amazon driving me to look into this. In terms of losing on music, I can still use Spotify Free to fill in the gaps in the Amazon Music catalog on my phone, granted with ads and shuffle only functionality. I can live with that, and I have a grandfathered unlimited AT&T data plan so streaming only is not an issue for the car. I figure at a yearly cost savings of $20, this is a slam dunk for me with all of the other features offered within Prime membership.

Welcome to 2010, mquinnjr :bag:

My Prime is up June 4th and I probably won't renew. I'm not using it enough. Tried that Annadroids show and there was no audio. Other shows had audio. Weird.

Will I pay more if I let it expire and then re-subscribe at a later date? I think it's $99 either way?

Same cost either way, at least based on today's processing

Never thought I would say this, but I cancelled my membership today. I didn't receive a package when they said it would arrive. I called them, he offered me a free month of Prime and I told him I didn't want a free month. I said I enjoy the service and don't mind paying for it, I would just like my item to arrive before the weekend. He understood and said if you go in and order it again I can have it to you by tomorrow. I asked him if he was sure and he said absolutely. I told him that would be great. I ordered the item again. He comes back on and says I can't have it to you by Friday but maybe Saturday....... So I asked him why did he tell me it would be here tomorrow and then asked to speak to a Supervisor. So now, I paid for the item twice and it still won't be here when I need it, before the weekend. The Supervisor comes on and I tell her the whole story about what happened. I told her I didn't want the item anymore, because I need it before the weekend and it was pointless to get it now. I said I would just go grab one at Walmart. She refunded me for the 2nd but couldn't refund me for the first one. She wouldn't compensate me any further so I said please cancel and refund my Prime membership. I must've thought I was talking to Directv, because I expected her to beg me to stay. She refunded my money and now I'm Primeless.....

Add this to things that only happen in Florida. :lmao:

My kid didn't want to watch it at first but I suggested she try it (after reading there was an educational aspect to it) and now she's on her second viewing of the episodes. Pretty cool animation IMO.

Free same day shipping is amazing. Have ordered a few items right before noon and they've been delivered by 5. Been really dependable so far

Just came across this and watched the pilot but there are no other episodes. Any ideas on when they will be added?
MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE' PREVIEW The first two episodes of Amazon's upcoming series "The Man in the High Castle" will stream Friday, July 10 along with the show's cast and crew panel at San Diego Comic-Con. (The pilot of Philip K. ****'s alternate history is already online from Amazon.) Watch Friday, July 10 at ew.com/comic-con

Amazon is having a big sale on July 15th for their 20th Birthday. They'll supposedly have more deals than Black Friday for all Prime members throughout the day.
