Amazon Prime (1 Viewer)

Of course,  but I'm finding more of a need to go elsewhere this year.  Bought 10 things yesterday.  6 of them from Amazon, 4 from walmart for in-store pickup.
good luck with that.

I do buy through Walmart from time to time but last time I had to wait 20-25 minutes because they couldn't find my items.

Took me an hour to pick up something that i paid for online at wal-mart. Don't go after 7 PM even though it says online pickup available till 10 or whatever.

Last year I bought a Star Wars toy through Walmart in store pickup. It was a 3 foot high action figure. Got the notice it was in, went to the store, waited 1/2 hour. They come out with a 4' tall box. I opened it right there to make sure it was correct. There was nothing but brown paper packing and a receipt in the box. They shipped an empty fn box to me. 1/2 hour later, after 2 managers, my son who was buying this for his brother, tells me they have 5 on the shelf in the store. Had to almost argue with the manager to let me take one off the shelf instead of waiting for another shipment that wouldn't be in until after Christmas.

I've ordered a ton off prime this year and everything's been solid. I even have my parents address as a ship to (they just pay me back) so I can get them what the boys want and they can wrap it and bring them. I almost #### a brick when my mom told me my dad got the stuff I sent him at Best Buy for a lot more. I told them to return it and I would order and send it. They spend a set amount and instead of getting my youngest a $100 iTunes gift card, they were getting a $25 from Best Buy since the rest cost so much more there. Disaster averted and they got the gift card at Costco like I told them (only $85). I hate ever stepping in Best Buy. If it electronics or appliances, I shop around but I usually get it at Costco, Amazon or Lowe's/Home Depot. Best Buy is trash.

Also, had a long, long wait at Walmart one Christmas for a Razor Quad. It was fine, best price, but the people working there at the pickup line sure didn't seem to know what the hell they were doing.

I let my Prime subscription lapse a week ago and haven't missed it at all.  As long as you order $35 worth of stuff at once you essentially get the benefits of prime anyway, right? (the free 2 day shipping).  If they still had the same day shipping (I guess it was just a trial in my area?) it might still be worth it, but I'm not getting my $10/month or w/e out of the service right now

I'm getting ready to start down this road as well. Ever since I joined Costco back in August I don't use Amazon as often. I still have 6 months left on my sub so we'll see.

If you don't use Amazon video/music/etc. it probably isn't worth it....but if you are it's a great deal.

Yea, I have a Firestick with Kodi on it so I don't rely on the Amazon content, which I personally find pretty lacking anyway.  I see Sneaky Pete is finally gonna air, so I'm glad my GF has Prime, but I'd be able to watch it either way.    Oh, she's gonna add me to her household too, but would I still be able to ship stuff to my place under that plan?  If so, I guess I still have Prime.

Ordered a Traxxas remote controlled car back at the end of November for my son.  Pulled it out this weekend for the first time and we played around with it.  My son crashed it into the curb and broke a piece.  While shopping for replacement parts I realized I was sent the cheaper version of what I ordered.  It's about a $100 difference.

Chatted with Amazon and they were quick to offer to send the correct version as long as I replace the broken part and send the old one back.

I let them know it was going to show signs of use and the rep didn't seem concerned.  Hopefully there won't be any issues with the return.

Ordered a Roku stick back on 11/27 and came home Friday to find the remote didn't work. My GF swears she didn't do anything to it

Contacted amazon and they are letting me return the Roku unit for a new one. Great CS!

I ordered a guitar package with amp that had clearly been opened and didn't work. Easy enough to return but annoyed that Amazon would sell a returned opened defective product as new.

I have ordered a few large items that have come damaged.  An inversion table recently had a 1inch scratch through the grip.  A power tower was missing nuts/bolts.  I'm not sure how many of you guys have ordered large items, but they almost always have minor damages / parts missing due to shipping.  If you contact Amazon they always offer me a return/ refund or 35% off.

I have one too and had the same issue. I contacted tech support and got it to work again temporarily but it always had trouble pairing up again. I use the iPhone app instead, threw the remote in the trash.

I can't say enough good things about Amazon Prime.  I had problems with a couple of vendors this year - and they kicked ###.  Was getting the run-around on returns from these outside vendors selling through Amazon - and Amazon Customer Service just took over.

Instant reaction from the vendors (turns out both from India).  I mean within a couple of hours.

Also had a couple of orders not show (wasn't prime) in the estimated time - they had me cancel the orders, gave me a credit and reorder.  I told them that I could see it was in transit, but they said I would just get both.  Crazy.  Got 2 awesome mushroom popcorns (4lbs each) and dark choc sea salt caramels for the price of 1.

Pretty annoying that their 2 day shipping has gone from getting it 2 days from the item being ordered to getting it 2 days after it ships (which is often 1-3 days after ordering). Being able to get stuff in 2 days was a nice offset versus buying something in-store same day, but not knowing exactly when it will get there and it possibly being up to 5 days after ordering is making Amazon much less attractive.

And there's no question that their prices have gone up. They used to beat any B&M store on pretty much every item since they didn't have the same overhead costs. Now I have to be careful because I can actually buy quite a bit of stuff for less money in B&M stores now.

Prime means free shipping and 2 days shipping on items sold by amazon and most, not all, items fulfilled by amazon. Look to see if it's sold or fulfilled by Amazon.

99% of the time Amazon is still the cheapest, but I bought a vacuum there recently and found it was on sale for a fair bit less at a local Target. I did make a mental note to do at least some minimal price shopping in the future. Haven't really had to do that in a few years.

if you order thru 3rd party on Amazon, that will happen. best to make sure you're stuff is genuine Amazon.

What did you order and what did you get instead?

Part of the reason why I purchase lots thru Amazon is because it often saves us a trip somewhere on the weekend, or I can get something earlier. I'm ok with paying a bit more than a special sale if I don't have to make a trip. :2cents:

I ordered the Rustler VXL and was sent the Rustler XL5.  I'm new to these and didn't immediately catch the difference.  Went back to the Slickdeals thread and saw they sent everyone the wrong one.
Figured it was going to be a brushless vs brushed. Going brushless for your first RC is ballsy lol.

I came for the lower prices but I stay because I'm really lazy.

Yeah, I've been guilty of not comparing prices on somethings as often as I probably should. I just trust Amazon too much. But in the end, I agree with you. If it saves me time, I'm not worried about spending a few extra bucks here and there.

Plus there are so many options to get 5% cash back on Amazon purchases these days. It's going to take a massive sea change in the retail world for Amazon to not be my first and only stop for many items.

Yep typically. Most often they'll have other upgraded components as well.
I think I read somewhere that I can swap the battery to slow it down.  Is that correct?  Do you have one of these?  It was a lot of fun for the 30 minutes before we broke it.  I'll likely get a second one.

Well yeah, but for $50-75 I'll make a trip to the store.

Not really, all the batteries do is duration. You can get more speed from using Lithium batteries over NiCad but I don't think anyone uses NiMh anymore, and it's not that significant. More like 5-10mph. I'd recommend a good multiple battery charger like this to charge multiple batteries at once so you can go out for an hour or so.

I have a few trucks and a boat. Boat is brushless and is insane almost too hard to control and need a really big pond or small lake to really run. Trucks are brushed and no way I'd go brushless without having a track to run at, just moves too fast to run in small areas well.

Sounds like I might have made a mistake with the VXL. At least it looks like it has a training mode which runs at 50%. I'll find out Friday.

Absolutely. That was probably a big deal sale, and why you should do a bit of perusing around to see if you are getting the best deal.

Most of the stuff I get on Amazon wouldn't have a $50-75 savings.

I've noticed it varies, and it seems to slow down as the week goes on. There have been times that I ordered something on a Wednesday afternoon, and it was a Prime item, and the site says delivery would be the following Monday.

Then, like today, I ordered this afternoon (Monday), and it'll be here Wednesday.

I buy insane amounts of stuff from them, have stuff on the front porch almost every single day. I'm putting in a filtration system and got everything on Prime, from the faucet to the diamond bits to the Teflon tape. Screw Home Depot.

If you're patient and aren't looking for something particular, you can find GREAT deals on Amazon. This could also be a bad thing...I didn't need a pair of shoes but somehow found myself browsing them. I found a pair I really liked and my size (11.5) was 70% less than every other size. "$100 shoes" for $30. I've had this happen with jackets, gym clothes, boots for my wife, toys for the kids etc. It's kind of getting out of hand, just like AMZN stock that's up almost $100 in the last 3 months.

Also, I want to start watching Sneaky Pete tonight. It was 100% on RT yesterday.

All the stuff that I ordered was Prime fulfilled by Amazon.

Right.  Most, not all, fulfilled by Amazon is eligible for 2-day.  If it's fulfilled by Amazon you have to check the shipping at checkout to see and make sure if you need it in two days.

Yeah, it's irritating when you first figure it out.  But realize that fulfilled doesn't mean Amazon has the item in their hands.  Depending on the supplier they are working with they can't always guarantee 2-day.  The advantage of a fulfilled items versus just buying it from a seller on Amazon is that Amazon still handles all customer service and exchanges.  If it's a generic item I always look for Prime and Sold By Amazon, even if it's not the cheapest it's usually worth the extra couple of bucks, because that means Amazon has the item at their warehouse in stock.

I'm rebuilding an old airstream. I go to Camping World to shop for toilets, find a nice porcelain $230 pot on sale for $179, then order the exact same model on Amazon for $129. No sales tax and a giant box delivered to my doorstep for free.  I don't see how any of the B&M stores stay in business.

It's astounding how they can undersell everyone, even with shipping included. Prime is the best deal ever when you're high volume. It's like 40 cents shipping per package, any size/weight. I'd love to see the rates they pay, must be huge volume discounts.

Just watched Willy Wonka on the Amazon Video app with the kids for free.

it has more availability for movie titles than Netflix.

prime is so ridiculously good.
