Amazon Prime (3 Viewers)

Amazon Wardrobe - Coming Soon

Looks like they're applying the Zappos model to clothing altogether. While not a style consultant service like Trunk Club, etc. it's definitely taking aim there as well as at the last reason I go to the mall for anything, to try on clothing. :includedinprime:
They really are trying to make it so you never have to leave your house to go shopping ever again

It's been a few years since I've been to a mall. Don't feel like dealing with the hassle
I'll go to a mall if I need something, and I want to make sure it fits right.  Dealing with waiting for something to come in the mail and potentially have to send it back is not exactly hassle free.  That said I love finding a website where I know I can order clothes and know they are going to fit.  If Amazon can up their style and sizes fit me the way I like, I'll be a customer.

Very true. But it seems pretty infrequent that I need a certain item of clothing quickly.

Is there a way to stream Google play over eco?  I'd love to have YouTube commercial free
I have no idea, I don't have an echo.  I'm not sure if this helps, but there is another YouTube app for music.  I haven't downloaded it but I think google play prompted me to once.

I take it you've never been unprepared when faced with the dreaded sign at a restaurant that read "No shirt, no shoes, no service." Good luck getting vittles when you're waiting on an Amazon delivery, amigo.

Fk that.  Trying stuff on at a mall is hassle enough.  I've ordered pants and fitted hats from Amazon and I'll buy two and return the one that didn't fit

Love Prime. But the Fire HDX I got the wife when I signed up is the biggest piece of crap ever. At the 14 month point, I am returning the SECOND one for replacement. The first replacement lasted a whole two months. Completely dead.

We have a Fire tablet for our daughter. It's certainly not an iPad, but the price is hard to beat. I think those tablets are fine for just reading books or streaming videos, but anything other than that and they're pretty slow.

Video was the primary issue. Worked great about nine months. Then videos started stuttering. Then freezing with the voice continuing. Eventually, would completely freeze it and had to be forced to shut down. Finally sent it in just prior to warranty ending at a year. The replacement was even worse. She didn't make it through a single video before the issues started. In less than two months, it completely died. Based on our experience, I went out to Amazon and read the 1 star reviews, which make up 9% of reviews, which is a lot in my opinion. Many people have the same issue. Great tablet for a year, then the big issues start, with many being totally dead by 15 months. So maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones and have a good one. But for the money, this is a poorly constructed, poorly performing tablet. I will look elsewhere for the replacement.

Amazon Prime now reduces the price of Amazon's new Unlimited Music service to about 8 bucks a month.

I'm wondering about that service. Napster (formerly Rhapsody) and Spotify seem to offer similar services for not much more than that, and their libraries might be more fleshed out. Just FYI.

I have the $50 Fire Tablet.  I wound up downloading a different video player (MX player?) cuz the stock one sucked to navigate esp for videos on SD Card.  I doubt that's your issue.

For the price, it's a good book and video device.  But, wanting it do more than that requires a lot of patience.  I do use it for web and some games, but web is dreadfully slow.  Games are fine, but take forever to load.

Imagine someone's reaction if, a few years ago, you handed them the device, showed them what it could do, and told them it would only cost $50 in 2017 (think I paid $35 for mine on Prime day).

Our standards change real quick.

Ordered the new Amazon Dash Wand with Alexa last weekend.  $20 price with promotion for $20 in Amazon credit.  So net cost $0.  Had it a couple days and it's well worth the price.

It runs off battery so it's not always listening, instead you have to push a button to use it like using the Fire Stick 2 microphone button to engage Alexa.  Being on battery (two AAA's). it also can't be used to stream music/podcast or set alarms/timers.  But otherwise it does about everything the Echo, Tap, or Dot can do.  Works great as a remote voice controller if you have Alexa bridged to your smart home devices (lights, thermostats, garage opener, etc).  Also when you push the button it also lights up a bar code scanner which can automate adding products to your Amazon shopping cart.  It comes with a hook to hang it anywhere plus it has a built-in magnet to stick it to the fridge.

I'm still having a hard time buying into the Amazon grocery shopping. I'm finding wildly varying prices when shopping though the site and it scares me to just "scan and trust" that amazon is going to put the best priced item in my cart. Plus, there are many grocery items that I'm not 100% brand loyal to—there a few things that i'll buy just on price regardles s of brand. Plus, I hate the % of box full shipping. I find myself playing swap games looking for the best way to fill a box.

I got her the 8.9" Fire HXD 64. It was a hell of a lot more than $50.

Please explain. I'm trying to figure out how it can be any more hassle free?  Prime shipping and you put the clothes you don't want into an included postage paid package.

Mistake #1
No, mistake #1 was buying in to CNET's inflated review on how good of a tablet it was. This was a retirement gift for my wife. It wasn't going to be a $50 tablet. I wanted something that was high quality, and easy to use with Amazon Prime, which was part of the gift. I trusted CNET for reviews in the past, but the last two or three times, I've been burned pretty badly. So now I have to try to make the best of a bad situation with the tablet. But I will do my best to inform others so they don't make the same mistake.

I'm including the time you have to wait for the package to come, and potentially getting something that doesn't fit (and if it is something you need, additional time to send back and wait for the new one) as a hassle.

Here's an example.  My son had to get a suit for his 8th grade graduation.  We were wandering the mall looking for something reasonable when I said, hey, why don't we just look on amazon?  Sure enough, the exact color he wanted was there, and it was cheaper than anything we found in the mall.  We went ahead and ordered it.  He was going to wear it twice, so I wasn't overly concerned with the quality.  It comes a few days later, and he tries it on.  The jacket fits, but the pants are too short.  So, we have to end up ordering a second suit to get the right size pants.  Another few days wait, and of course this ends up being one where it doesn't come by the "guaranteed" prime shipping date so there are a couple of nervous days where we are just hoping it comes by the day he needs it.

Ended up working ok, but I consider all of that a hassle.

You still have to drop it off at a UPS store. Not like you can stick it in your mailbox at home.

You can have your shipment picked up from your home or office by scheduling your pickup online at ups.com or by calling1-800-PICK-UPS® (1-800-742-5877). UPS will pick up all packages with a single pickup request; you will not be charged pickup fees per package.

What a nightmare!  Seriously, I can't think of one time ever that I've been on a schedule for a piece of clothing.  But, I don't have growing kids either.

Ya, I'm not trying to make it sound like 70s rationed gas lines inconvenient, but buying clothes online isn't as easy as buying shampoo.  Mass produced clothes don't fit universally (I have pants waist sizes ranging from 31 to 34 that all fit the same for example).  While I get people hating the hassle of the mall, sometimes I'll prefer that to make sure what I'm getting fits the first time and I have it today.

If I needed a suit or something quickly, obviously it would make sense to go to a store and buy that. I wouldn't buy a suit or something online. But for regular every day clothing like shirts, jeans, shorts, shoes, etc., I would have no problem buying that stuff online.

My wife orders stuff, tries it on, sends it back.  We have a pick up around the corner from us.  I'm there minimum 3x/week.

I believe it is similar to Pandora paywall that removes adds.

Thanks for the above.  I guess I'm not unhappy with what I get for free with Prime, so I'll just stick with that.
Yep...same here.

Not sure if you saw my earlier post but...
