Amazon Prime (2 Viewers)

Fwiw I have the ring pro, chime pro, and a hardwired Ring Floodlight.  They are great. The floodlight has to be mounted at a certain height to work well however.

That comment was based on the first paragraph below.  Maybe someone with a newer stick can chime in, but, the speed and responsiveness compared to the Fire TV used to be the suck.

Well it used to be that the Fire TV was a lot faster than the stick, so much so that after trying the Fire TV I dreaded using the stick.  (note: there isn't a Fire TV choice anymore it's either Cube or Stick)  BUT, maybe that's changed and the sticks are a lot better now, I don't know.

The Cube has an Ethernet port so you don't have to rely on WiFi if that fits your situation.  It is also a full fledged Alexa speaker, you don't have to press a button and talk into the remote, and to integrate with other devices (smart lights etc.) the stick will need to be paired up with an Echo.  My understanding is the Cube will do it by itself.

Christmas lights is the real winner to me.  I don’t have to crawl back there anymore.  I also have one behind my tv plugged in for when the wife puts lit up Christmas junk on the mantle.

How hard is it to install the ring doorbell?  I noticed the older version is 30% off.

I have some cameras but they are running off solar.

Will the ring doorbell just connect to old doorbell power wires?

Also will it work with the same app I use to watch the cameras?

Depends on how old your wiring is.  They include a transformer? With the pro.  My house is about 3 years old and wired right up.

Same app.

If you have Prime Now in your city, try code 15PRIMENOW ($35 or more order) with it.

The fire stick + Sling TV deal appear to be over on Amazon main site, but can still get 4K Stick + $45 Sling Credit (for $25) or Reg Fire Stick + $45 Sling Credit for $15 through Prime Now (or possible other related deals within your city)

Just got a couple sticks with the above code and existing promo credits for just the $5 tip.

the newer stick does 4k, and can do wired internet with additional dongle. Also, the 4k stick actually has the faster processer than the cube (1.7 vs 1.5 ghz).
You've almost talked me out of buying a cube....the new sticks are just as fast?  I don't need a Cube for any of the other reasons, only concerned with speed.  Thanks!

I fail to see the value of it personally. I'm not an Alexa person at all. Unless I'm being given a dot, etc... for free, I'm not interested in it. Still think this thing is overpriced. Stick is just as fast/faster and a lot cheaper.

They had a deal earlier today for Stick + Dot for $12 (has ended but always possible started back up during prime days. I just fail to see what this Cube adds to that for $50/$60 more.

:lmao:   I think that's pretty much Amazon's motto.

I went with smart bulbs (phillips hue) a long time ago.  Other than lights what are people turning on and off with these?
It was only $5 for one of them. I mainly use it for  lights and Christmas lights.

@matttyl

I wasn't making fun.  I'm going to get some too if still available when I get home.  Was just wondering what people use them for.   Christmas lights and fans are two good answers I hadn't though of.

PS4 bundle with Spider-Man and Horizon zero dawn is $250. Not quite as good a deal as last Black Friday, but those are both excellent games so it’s a good time to jump in if you don’t have a PS4 already.
I was just about to jump on this, 100% claimed already

If you have CC thru Chase bank, they currently have offers with Staples for % off all purchases there. My CC are getting 20% off up to $14 max discount. Can go grab a couple $75 Amazon gift cards (depending on your % off and max discount) and get a quick $28 statement credit while shopping Amazon.

If you log into your Chase CC account you can add the offer(s) to your card(s).

So definitely pay more for the 4K stick even if for a bedroom tv? May stock up on a few. I feel dirty saying it, can I get the Dongle on sale too?

It's only $10 more, but it's a more up to date stick with faster hardware (CPU, GPU, better bluetooth).

For those thinking about a new fire stick - look at the link I posted above that talks about the hardware differences between the regular stick (from 2016) and the new 4k stick (from this past October).  The new one has a better CPU (and is a 64 bit CPU rather than 32bit), has m-peg2 hardware decoding, 50% more (and faster) RAM, newer/better bluetooth and a better wifi standard.  Well worth the extra $10.

Anybody know of good wireless, Bluetooth headphones suitable for running, etc.? Any I have tried don't stay connected to my Samsung Galaxy when I'm using Spotify.

Ring alarm system people...need input.

Ring Alarm 14 Piece Kit + Echo Dot (3rd Gen), Works with Alexa https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07L8WJWQ9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_BnllDbGAXPDFS

Thinking about pulling the trigger on this. Will probably need to add extra sensors. Also might add Ring video doorbell. Will check into the floodlights too possibly.

I have a wired ADT system with no video capabilities and there rates keep going up. Over $60 a month now. The Ring system should pay for itself quickly.

Do it? They say install is easy. Is it? All battery powered right? Pain to keep replacing batteries? Any other drawbacks? I read there's an app that's handy.

Edit: $200 base system, $100 for 6 extra sensors, $100 for video doorbell 2. So that's $400 (plus tax I assume). Pays for itself in 8-9 months.

Ring Doorbell - $69.99

Ring Doorbell2 - $99.99

Is the Ring Doorbell2 worth the $30 extra?

I already have the Blink cameras and love them, this would enable me to communicate with someone at the door.

I dont know the differences between the 2 but my first genreation Ring works great

My son wants a gaming chair (his current chair is pretty bad, so he needs something new)

Been looking at a few deals but I have no idea what I am looking for.  Any recommendations?  Thanks

I've been pretty happy with these. The sound is unspectacular but solid, they stay put while you run, and it's hard to beat the price IMO.
Same. I've been very happy with mine, and that's a really good deal. Think I paid close to $30 for mine.

ETA- I have an iphone tho. No experience linking with Galaxy.

I have the S517 49" in my bedroom and the R617 65" in my living room. Went TCL and won the panel lottery twice, great TV's IMO and glad I made the purchase. Tried both out post-calibration and the picture is outstanding. If you go this route, be sure to buy an extended warranty as the panel lottery from their lack of QA is a very real thing with this brand. I took the plunge because outside of an OLED when I read RTINGS forums on the higher priced brands I was interested in, I'm reading more and more about quality issues, so I figured what the heck.
