***American Idol Season 13*** (1 Viewer)

Lot of JLo hate. She still looks amazing. That kid cashed in when she still had baby weight and now gets that and a nice payday when they inevitably break up.

If Hollywood has taught us anything in recent years, it's buy low on the former hotty with baby weight/rehab issues. :porked: = :moneybag:

She looks great for her age, but she's one of the most annoying people on television. The producers have a lot to do with it, since they feel the need to zoom in on her during every performance, but if I hear "goosies" one more time, I'm going to punch my wife in the face.

Goosies!!!

And his single sucked as well. Do these songwriters not know how to write a hook on the chorus?
Yeah that was awful.
Both songs were terrible... But they were both written by the contestants, or at least credited to them- unless I completely misunderstood.Jena wins this thing.
I think Caleb wins this.
I had a feeling Caleb was winning it all this year. I believe he was the only one not to be in the bottom 3 all season, could be wrong on that though. He had a big following.

At least they didn't wheel out the 60-70 year old singers for the finale this year.

Was that a Matt Leinart sighting???

Jeez, glad I watched the Survivor finale live instead of this turd last night. 10-15 minutes of worthwhile content, max?

You did notice that Kiss was there? That was just embarrassing. And stomach-turning.
Oops, well yeah I guess I did notice that. But that was only one act. Usually they have a bunch that just leave me dumbfounded. Tony Bennett? Hall & Oates? George Michael?

I think they'll still market Jena pretty big.
Bigger career. Still thought she shoulda won it. Caleb is good at what he does, but total 1 trick pony. I think Jena's upside is pretty damn high.

completely agree. she's more capable of putting out contemporary "pop" songs that will sell to a larger market. Caleb will put an album of songs that sounds like 70s rock parrots... might be fun for a listen or two, particularly becuase he's got a great voice- but the fun will get as old as the bellbottoms and dried out weed you'll feel compelled to use while listening.

There is zero chance of Caleb being relevant as a recording artist. I knew he was going to win the whole time, but then toward the end when it was clear that Alex and Jena were more interesting, and creative, that realization started to suck more and more. His whole persona is just begging to be parodied by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Caleb is "America, #### Yeah" in human form.

if you fast forwarded through all the BS, it wasn't too bad. the Alex/Jason Mraz duet was really good, Paramore with Jena was pretty cool, John Legend is always good, and I have a little thing for Demi Lovato. Harry being comically (sarcastically?) overexcited the whole night was funny, too.

His dancing during Kiss was classic.

Credit to this show... the kids who win actually put out albums with some success- and obviously more than a few have actual ongoing music careers.

other singing shows- best case scenario for the winners is some future reality show or hosting gig.

I won't miss the results show, but how does it work logistically? Everyone rehearses for next week'ss show and they announce the elimination before everyone perform the next week? (I know they made that change to Dancing With The Stars, but I don't watch)

ETA- If anyone cares while looking for an answer to my question, I saw that Randy is gone. Again.

It seems they are brining in a guy from the label "Big Machine" to replace Randy as the mentor. Big Machine is a country label with its biggest stars being Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts and Florida - Georgia Line.

Anyone else still watching? Looks like it has potential to have better talent than last year (low bar, I know) depending on who gets to Top 12.

I was happy to see Savion back. I knew his brother died during the fimimg last year, but didn't realize it was this high profile murder case.

And, for anyone who watched AGT this past season, Nick (sang In Your Eyes) is lead singer of Beach Avenue.

Hmmm, well maybe I am the only one watching. Anyway, without giving any spoilers, I think it is interesting that at least three of the Top 24 (based on spolier reports) had blind auditions on The Voice. Two made it to teams and the other auditioned when the teams were mostly full.

Am watching and have really enjoyed the audition shows this season. I watch mostly because my family watches but it's been good so far. Thought the KC audition show was very well done.

have been watching. some pretty good talent through the auditions. 2 guys who sang original songs last night were both good.

They seem to really be trying to upgrade the talent via more active recruiting/casting vs. discovering new talent out of thousands who just showed up in a stadium on their own. In addition to the three Voice castoffs, there is one from AGT and at least two callbacks from previous seasons. I was really disappointed with last year's crop, so hopefully this will payoff in a better season.

ETA-Also, it seems like they are having many sing a second song to get a better sense. I read an interview with a local contestant saying they asked him to do a 2nd song w/o his guitar. And a few times, Harry's made a comment about not having to hear more, which assume is a reference to doing the 2nd song.

been watching over my wife's shoulder at first, but have been having fun watching lately.

nice to see that they've shaken it up a bit, without the idiotic bad auditions, and with more harry humor. that said- after watching a few of these, the heavily mic-ed production team guffawing at all his jokes is starting to seem a bit bad sit-comish.

oh... and I'm sure some of these kids are good singers. I'm just over the whole concept after getting inundated with Voice, Xfactor, etc.

They need to tell contestants to stop trying to sing Radioactive. Very few can pull it off and have it sound good, and everyone who has tried this season have sounded terrible.

She's a little young, isn't she? ;)

I just started watching regularly after watching bits and pieces of it last season. Right now it's hard for me to separate anyone since there are so many still in the competition. Lot of good singers but like Harry said I'm looking for someone who stands out as more than just a good singer. Right now the two I think that are doing that for me are the blind kid and the boy who looks like he should be on a play date in preschool.

I really wish Simon was around to tell that kid he's not as good as he thinks he is.

Is it just me, or does the Voice just tower over AI talent-wise? I mean, 75% of the top 24 wouldn't stand a chance of making it past a knockout round on the Voice. Terrible.

Disagree.

In any case, I think Trevor Douglas (young kid with the nerd glasses) is a front runner, although I admittedly havent watched this season week in and week out.

Three of the Top 24 auditioned and did not make it to knockout rounds of The Voice.

Shi did not get any chairs to turn, though some teams were full. (I don't know how many).. Adanna was cut from Adam's team in the battle rounds and Mark Andrew was cut from Shakira's team in the battle rounds.

There may be better talent going to The Voice, but I think it's a pretty horrible format and doesn't really produce any lasting talent.

Who is the biggest star to come out of The Voice? I honestly don't know.

As for AI, I think it's a travesty that Jaq is not in the top 24. They must be grooming her for next season.
