interesting.
she has that super-stylized/contrived indie girl thing going- which seems like a regular thing for the show... except, IMO, she can actually sing (past the contrivances) versus similar girls they've had in the past. that said- I still find the style annoying. and woof- the poor girl needs some teeth whitening. I hate being petty, but I love being petty.

Idk...some people are genuinely quirky, and to me it seems like she's just being herself. She won't win so she won't be around til the end, but it'll be fun watching her before she's eliminated, mainly because as you said, she can actually sing and looks like she's having fun.

Re: teeth whitening...they did that with Crystal Bowersox in season 9 (the hippie chick that finished 2nd). Her grille was pretty yellow and by the 3rd or 4th show she came out with pearly whites. I wonder if they'll do that her...probably not unless they think shell be around for a while.

I just started watching recently but the preschooler has to be the worst one to get to the final 11 right? I mean c'mon, the cute little kid thing has got to be over. He's so awful compared to everyone else it's not even funny at this point.
This hasn't been a good week for Jax. I thought the last two nights were his worst performances so far.
Tyanna is definitely the front-runner right now.

Thought Quentin was very good. Best of the guys tonight although Clarke was solid.

He's got the blue-eyed soul thing goin on but I think Quentin has had one awesome and one very good performance the last two weeks. He's right there in my opinion.
Unless Jax really rebounds I don't see how any of the girls overtake Tyanna at this point. She's in the zone.

This is won by public voting - not by who's best. The year Daughtry was in it, Taylor Hicks won. Just saying that just because Tyanna is good, doesn't mean she'll be the idol.

I thought he was embarrasingly bad. I'll probably watch it again to see if I missed something but I thought he sounded like one of the really bad auditioners the show used to make fun of in the early years.
Then again, I still can't believe the preschooler keeps advancing. We all think it's cute when my 4-year-old niece sings that Frozen song but none of us think she should win American Idol.

I agree. They got one tyiana for overpowering parts of her song and Quentin for having pitch issues yet loved Qaasim who was not only out of tune but was a screaming raving lunatic during his performance. The kid is in over his head too but will be around for a while...should've been sent home weeks ago to come back in a year or two. This show needs a Simon Cowell really bad. It's almost unwatchable right now. Thank goodness for DVRs to fast forward through the nonsense.

I stopped watching when that prepubescent boy made it to the real part of the show. I cannot take the show seriously when somebody advances based on the cutie pie angle.

I don't know if I was more surprised that they used the save with so many contestants left or that they used it on Qaasim and said his was the performance of the night. Have never seen the show more focused on stage performance over singing. You even have super serious judge Harry giving Nick the criticism to act sexy.
And, does anyone else think Scott Borchetta looks like a greasy Mark Cuban?

Music is totally subjective. I think The Ramones are garbage but they have legions of fans and are in the rock n roll hall of fame. The only thing you need to know is what your ears like and don't like.
And the save was a total waste. Stupidity.

That kid who got saved is a hot mess. I get the appeal (trainwreck lovers unite), but I haven't heard him sing well at all.

Shocked they used the save on that performance as well. It appeared to me that while he was singing, JLo was embarrassed... i thought for sure he was gone. She even put her head down at the end. I guess I read her reactions wrong. This show is very disappointing with talent -- watch the Voice if you're looking for good singing.

I thought Jax, Joey and Quentin were real good. I can't believe the judges didn't like Quentin. I thought he was real good. Diddn't think it was one of Clark's better efforts. Overall, though, I agree that it was not a good night for most of them. When someone like Tyanna, who's been killing it every week, falls flat you know it's not a good night.
The little boy stopped being cute weeks ago. I don't know how anyone can honestly critique him without saying "What the hell are you still doing here?"

He knows how to perform. He definitely can do that.
But his singing last night was embarrassing. I honestly can't believe people weren't laughing at how bad it was. It looked like someone's bad Karaoke night gone wrong. The kind of thing that gets a million hits on YouTube because it's such a joke. Something Daniel Tosh tears apart. The girl they didn't save last week was a million times better.

There are your real talents on the show. Last night Joey lept in there as that was a genuine, real performance. She connected with the lyrics big time. It felt personal. I love Quentin's intesnsity and soul. Clark was outstanding as well. I did not care for Jax singing an Adam Sandler tune. Love the movie, funny tune with Adam singing it. I did not care for her rendition at all. I thought Staying Alive fell really flat.
Sometimes you just need to perform the song the way it was written. That song does not need a new arrangement. They take it too far sometimes for the sake of making it their own, blah blah blah.
Overall the show is starting to really fall flat though. And that little cute kid should have never been in the top 24 to begin with. Country girl stinks as well and she should have been let go when they chose her over the other real country singer who just did not look as attractive as her. That was a producer's decision all the way.
Clark and Jax are my top 2 overall.

Joey's definitely got a legit shot as long as she proves like she did last night that she's just not a goofy singer with the goofy instruments. Her song last night showed real depth. That's what she needs to keep doing. All the other niche stuff tends to get old real quick.

I agree with all of this. Adonna (however you spell it is a close #6) The rest are just meh at best. That country girl really annoys me...even moreso than the kid. It seem's like she auditioning for a beauty pageant every performance. The kid is just in way over his head. Rayvon is getting on my nerves too. Great voice but every performance is the exact same. Nick while a decent singer is nothing special and he's 29. I have a hard time believing if he hasn't made it by now he never will...that ship has sailed my friend.

I thought Rayvon was pretty bad last night. I agree with Harry that all of his songs sound the same. There's no diversity.
