Wow?I believe that if Woody Allen had sex with a 7 year old, he ought to spend the rest of his sorry life in prison- and if he were a younger man, a minimum of 20 years. And I would NEVER forgive him if I knew him. Polanski deserves to spend a couple of years behind bars, perhaps longer for trying to avoid it. And eventually I could forgive him. Do you really not see any moral distinction?

I seem to have hit a nerve, and if so I apologize. I really do believe there is a distinction to be made here. I have made the same point in other threads on the same topic. It's an unpleasant topic, but of we're going to have an honest discussion about it, there really is a difference between these types of acts.
 
Wow, I've felt for some time that Tim was one of the worst things to ever happen to this board, but who knew this. The guy is honest-to-god pro-pedophile based on his commentary in this thread. "Body of a 20 year-old"...really?!?

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you simply misunderstood what I wrote. Otherwise, calling me a pro-pedophile is probably the worst insult you could ever make towards me.
 
If the moderators here believe that I have attempted to justify pedophilia in any manner whatsoever, then I deserve to be banned. I have not, and I EXTREMLY resent the accusation that I have done so.

Trying to draw a distinction between one rape and another, citing one victim's promiscuity and body type as if that had any relevance whatsoever to the gravity of the incident. And diminishing it with the use of quotations.

 
His "crime" was to have sex with a promiscuous 13 year old with the body of a 20 year old. I don't approve of such behavior, but it's hardly worth lifelong comdemnafion.

I shouldn't have used the quotations. I apologize again for that. As for the rest of OT, I wasn't justifying Polanskis behavior- the distinction I was making was whether or not I could forgive him enough to go see his movies. I have. That was all.

Tim isn't a terribly articulate person, at least not based on his written communication. Thus some of the IQ-challenged comments we've seen in the FFA for years. But do folks really think he is pro-pedophile? I just assume he is a) a poor writer, and b) not particularly bright when it comes to constructing logical arguments. Neither of which is a new thing.

I read the weird stuff with the thumb in mouth and the breathing on the lap but never saw intercourse or his genitals involved. Not excusing anything just curious what was alleged to have happened.

No idea either, but they said the details of her story kept changing, she sounded coached, there wasn't any physical evidence, and he passed a polygraph. Maybe not enough to go on.

I can see now that what I wrote this morning came out horribly wrong. Of course I did not intend to defend pedophilia of any sort. I have two daughters, 13 and 11, and I believe I would murder whoever touched them.

I wasn't trying to justify Polanski, I was trying to justify my willingness to watch his movies because I didn't believe his particular crime, per the testimony of his victim, deserved lifelong condemnation- though it certainly deserves to be condemned. . Are you talking about the testimony where a 13 year old girl described how a 43 year old man gave her champagne and quaaludes and then despite her protests he had oral, ######l and anal sex with her? Is that the testimony you're talking about, tim?
