Anarchy League Hosting (1 Viewer)

Well, the season is fast approaching and sadly we do not yet have a hosting site. Maybe there is a site lined up and I don't know about it, but for now I have to assume there isn't one.

I am open for suggestions and potential solutions at this point.

What happened?
The site we used last year apparently can't use the same league management software. I had heard there were a couple other places to switch to but apparently that didn't happen (or if it did no one told me which site).I tried PMing and emailing several times over the past couple of weeks to see what the deal was but have not heard back.We may be able to keep the leagues at MFL at the same place we drafted. We did that once before. We'll see if that is feasible or not.If not, we would need another option.

I assume these leagues are a bit more complicated to set up, and therefore won't work at Yahoo!/ESPN/NFL.com?

I don't know of a script/software that runs thru the whole season and playoffs

suggestions?

Yahoo may or may not be free. Not sure if they can handle the quirks of the league (it's been a while since I was in a Yahoo league).ESPN might be an option, but I don't know if they do things like TMQB and 21 week seasons. Not sure about NFL.com.

I tried Yahoo and they don't have TMQB and you can't have TEs for flex. I also am pretty sure playoff socring would be totally oput of the question anyway.

I think EA Sports can do it for free.

ETA: nm - I wasn't thinking about playoffs. Kinda like during the draft...

Can you email Mike @MFL and explain the situation and say please? He may let us keep it on there for free if he's in a good mood.

Sorry guys. I haven't been responding much lately.

None of the free league managers can handle what we do. Period. I've been working on setting up a big excel spreadsheet I could use as a base, but it's been slow because of personal issues, and the need to automate as much as possible. Anything more than an hour the night after the games is too much. One big problem was how to import stats, and if FFLM has a useable report function, that takes care of 75% of the issues. I should be able to have some preliminary scoring up on Fri if that is the case.

We are trying to pull some strings and get MFL to help us out by way of FBG but are waiting to hear back.

Someone might suggest to them that a $10 draft and go league might be a decent revenue source and sure would eat up much in the way of resources.

The other option if we can't get MFL to let us leave the league there for free is for all of us to pony up a few bucks and just pay for them to host it. IIRC it would be $90.00 per league so like $6.00 a person.

$$ chip-in would be fine by me.

I spent a little bit of time yesterday trying to figure out if I could whip out a java page troller that will parse all the stats from nfl.com or even from the mfl page (someone mentioned that we might be able to leave the league there and at least get a Report generated after the games are played?).

I could work on something like this if needed, as right now I'm hip deep in doing something similar (well, not from a web source...but doing an #### load of code/text parsing and collection). I'm just worried that even something that on the surface seems simple would still take me a couple weeks to get perfected, and I'm sure waiting would generally piss everyone off =P

only problem is what do we do if some of the leaguemates dont want to pay

MFL has agreed to let us stay, so we should be good to go . . . (and there was much rejoicing). Thanks to Clayton and Mike on this one.

Mike is good people, MFL is great and he deserves all of everyones league hosting business. He still takes care of each and every detail absolutely right away and has gone out of his way to provide by far the best customer service. I can't even understand how he does it. (My PSA is now concluded, I have no stake in MFL). And thanks again for everything David. You too Carlton.

no mention of all the other message board survivor leagues?

thanks Twilight.I still wasn't sure if you were going to handle them all or not. Seems like a lot more work for you than what things used to be like. Also, I'm guessing the IDP survivor league we drafted would be different. As the guy who set that one up, I'm trying to figure out what I need to be doing to get it scored each week.

If I can get the stats from FFLM, then I can do the IDP as well. We'll know for sure tomorrow after the inital stats get released, so I can test how much work the importation process will be.

For some reason, the system did not score the weekly totals and add them into the standings. ANyone know where to do that in the COmmissioner's Setup options?

It should do it automatically. My guess is that it is not scoring because the system knows we did not pay for it. They just need to "flip the switch" at MFL, since we got it comped. Look under Help and send them a Support Ticket. Their service is very fast.

It's active. Otherwise Live Scoring wouldn't be active.1. Under General League Set-up, Total Points League should be selected.

2. Starting Lineup setup should have Instead of submitting starting lineups, starting lineups are automatically determined by the system based on the best-scoring players on a franchise roster? selected

If those are selected (and I'm betting #2 isn't), then it might need Support from MFL.

#2 was the culprit. Thanks.
