2024 BTSW (RIP) Summer of Love Sign Up and Discussion thread...... (1 Viewer)

felt caught a bit at 3.03. Didn't feel like any of the available RBs were a great value there, and already had two WRs. Thought long and hard about going back to the WR well anyway with Olave or Kupp, but also had a feeling several top QBs would be gone before my 4th pick came (6 pt TDs, friendly towards running QBs) and wanted one of them. It's sooooooo easy to get caught on the wrong end of a position run when drafting near the end, so decided to go ahead and grab one of them. Was a difficult choice between Mahomes and Hurts. Homerism won out but not 100% positive I called it correctly. @BassNBrew took Mahomes just 2 picks later

and upon review of the draft dominator data, also @nittanylion, who went RB/QB/TE with his first three picks while you went RB/TE/RB. you two are the only teams with 0 WR after three picks. the other teams have selected 18 WRs, with five teams having two and one team having three.

the abundance of flex players provides a variety of strategies, so perhaps you two zagging at WR will be the ones that made the best decisions. we will see.

i am thankful that we have a solid group of knowledgeable drafters to help us all develop a feel for drafting, early in the season and glad that Ref set this one up.
Fwiw, I had considered 3 WR at the 3.10. All 3 are still there while I’m on deck. So that worked well unless I’m really overestimating those three.

 And just for the record, I am not trying to drive folks to draft WRs, I think that the smart move now is more TE & QB.

Team rzrback77 after five rounds

QB - Josh Allen BUF QB1 - fbg qb1

RB - Aaron Jones MIN RB17 - fbg rb18

WR - CeeDee Lamb DAL WR1 - fbg wr1
WR - Michael Pittman IND WR13 - fbg wr15
WR - DeVonta Smith PHI WR22 - fbg wr20

Round one - CeeDee Lamb was my pick, but I really don't see much difference between starting with Lamb and everyone selected through pick 9

Round two - Hoping for Davante Adams, who went one pick ahead of mine (renesauz) - hesitated but went with Josh Allen and pretty happy that three more QBs went in the next six picks

Round three - Preferred Michael Pittman over a few other options at WR and did not want to go TE early, no consideration of RBs here

Round four - Had Rachaad White as my top choice beginning at the end of the third, but sniped again (renesauz) - but glad to get D. Smith and considered Joe Mixon/Aaron Jones

Round five - Aaron Jones was the easy pick here after Mixon was taken (nittanylion)

I’m a big fan of having multiple lineup options and also having more of the players you draft actually have to score for you each week…thus the set up here

After 6 rounds:

Who needs WR? 🤷‍♂️🤔 :oldunsure:

1.10 Barkley - reached, but I like him to finish as a top 5 RB, possibly higher. Hurts with fewer short yardage tush pushes.

2.04 Kelce - possibly a reach in this format but probably as safe as they come here other than Evans.

3.10 Achane - I argued with myself far too long here but figure his ability to break any given week makes him worth this pick.

4.04 Deebo - at the 3.10, I considered Aiyuk, Deebo and Metcalf. Two picks away I was happy to settle for either 49er. At WR20, I have very little doubt that he’ll perform near or above his draft value. He wouldn’t be a “safe” pick earlier but is here.

5.10 AR. I had no intention of drafting him here, expecting him to go higher than I’d like as sources show his ADP in the top 50. Still a risky pick at 62 and QB9, and scoring is less skewed towards rushing QBs, at least for TDs. But I’ll gladly take the risk / reward here and this will very likely be the only place I’ll have him.

6.04 Godwin - a bit down last year, if healthy he’s still a lock to exceed 80/1,000, and hopefully his TDs increase from a 6 year low. Should be a solid WR2.

I see this team so far as having a similar makeup as I’d like my investments - mostly value / safe picks, with 2 growth or risk/reward picks.

4 picks away and I am thinking the crazy draft preference of Kyler, Tank, and Kmet. Leave work to drive home and get home and see, all gone.

I was debating between JSN and Ridley. Thanks for making the choice for me. Although I think JSN can blow up this year.

7.10 Ridley - possibly my easiest pick in this draft. Love him as a WR3 and the value here. I think he goes earlier most drafts.

8.04 Chubb - risk worth taking here imo. If healthy I should be good to go at RB with Saquon, Chubb and Achane. Of course that’s the rub.

9.10 Rome - was hoping Caleb would fall one more but I think Rome is underrated in redraft, best ball at wr47.

10.04 cousins - this one was tough as I saw 3 equal QBs here. Really could have gone with any of them.

Overall, a decent mix of safe and gambling imo. So far.

Well the end stinks again...LOT of DSTs gone between picks, including Bass taking mine two picks before me....as his third defense

It’s not really a surprise/secret if you check the scoring and where defenses finish in this league compared to other positions…and more than one can score for you…just a matter of when you want to pull the trigger and how many you want and what sacrifices you are willing to make…

@BassNBrew grabbed the first two defenses in rounds 10 & 11. @Stinkin Ref and @Crippler also took defenses in round 11. Then in round 12, the run was on. Twelve of the 13 picks were DSTs, and it continues with 3 of 4 in the 13th.

Not to worry, there are still 13 remaining.

I should shut my cake hole but good debate. We start 13 QB-26 RB-39 WR-13 TE-13D-13 PK per week. We have 39 flex per week

I think flex 1 is D and 2-3 is some sort of RB-WR-TE

1. Don’t have to deal with injuries which can kill.
2. Last year the #26D scored same as #30 RB- 36 WR, 10 TE. Those are all starters.
3. Last years worst team has worse D by far in score
4. Injuries do happen and D can score negative, so don’t want to get-stuck with 1
Broke down by 3 weeks last year
Week #3. #26 Scored 6 pts. For flex would be 10 RB, 36 WR, 10 TE. But #14 D beats would be flex 1 overall at13
Week #10. Only 21 teams scored 8 with 5 teams in negative. Flex at 8 was 9 RB, 3 WR, 4 TE, 8 D, 2 PK. Still need 13 more
Week #14. #26 D cored 8 pts. So 13 D for flex compared to 9 RB, 9 TE, 4 WR. Still 4 short here.

But what are we carrying
3 QB start 1 or 33% counting
WR/RB Carry 13 minimum. Starting 7. Count 54%
TE. Carry 3. Count 1.5 or 50%
D. Carry 2 or 3. Count 100 or 67%
K. Carry 2 or 3. Count 50 or 33%

Only 6 teams can carry 3 D. Well 9 teams could but 4 teams would carry only 1. Disaster. Do you want to get caught with 1 D when looking at the numbers. Is 4 really a bad strategy in the end. Sure @BassNBrew might try. I am on wanting 3 solid D and not left with last years dregs as my 2nd D either. I had Ravens in preselect in round 8 as looked at available FA and D dominated the list.

Interesting discussion on defenses. Can’t disagree with any of the points made.
For me at 14.04 I strongly considered Denver but decided against it and took the next HoF kicker. That might bite me but 3 picks away and 3 defenses left, at least I’ll have 2nd. None of the three left share a bye week with the Steelers and I consider them all equal (not great). It may have been a tactical error to take Tucker over the broncos D, I guess we’ll see.

ETA: worked well, got the hometown defense. TITAN UP!

PK scoring not as high as DSTs, but they too are a possibility for a flex score and you must post one score each week. It is definitely a positive to have two fairly successful ones rostered, because unlike DSTs they can be injured and have missed games. Thankful to have two rostered.

Meh...I usually go solo. Second kicker is worth about 2.5 to 3 pts per week max. If you drafted kicker #2 last year Tucker, kicker #14 21 extra points or about 1 point a game. Actual number were 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6. Probably would go solo here too but we rooster so many players in this league I'll probably end up with a college kicker, two blocking fullbacks, and Bronny james on my rooster.

With 2 picks remaining...

QB- CJ Stroud, Caleb Williams, and Bo Nix

Definitely ended up much younger than I expected, but I love the talent in this group. Stroud and Williams have outstanding weapons and should regularly produce quality scores. Nix doesn't have the talent around him but should regularly find his team trailing in the 2nd half and find himself throwing lots of short passes.

RB - Breece Hall, James Cook, Raheem Mostert, Javonte Williams, DOnta Foreman, Ray Davis

If Breece can stay on the field he has all the tools to be a Top3 RB. Cook should have plenty of touches in an offense that seems to be trending towards a little more grind it out style. If Mostert remains the goal like back in Miami he should have plenty of opportunities to outplay RB26 draft position. Javonte was more of there wasn't anything on the board that I liked and felt like he was in the best position for consistent touches and goal line work in Denver. Foreman could be a lottery ticket if Chubb isn't able to play regularly. Davis was a little bit of Cook insurance and it sounds like he may get some opportunity for touches as the season progresses.

WR - Mike Evans, Cooper Kupp, Jaxon Smith-Nijigba, Jahan Dotson, Marvin Mims, Dontayvion Wicks, Jalen Tolbert

Went with the consistency of Evans as my WR1, barring injury I expect another 1150yds and 10 TD. I expect Kupp to return close to form, He has more competition for touches now but I still think we see 90+ catches and 1000yds. JSN still has Lockett in his path but hopefully he makes more gains on becoming the #2 option in Seattle. Been a fan of Dotson since he came out of Penn State. If he has the QB now, I expect this to be an explosive offense that can support multiple high end WR. Wicks and Mims are young guys that showed flashes last year and hopefully can continue to develop into Top 50 WR. Tolbert is a dart throw into an offense that should be at or near the top of production by the end of the year.

TE - Dalton Schultz and Cade Otten

Basically punted this position, Hoping a stack of Schultz and Stroud can be productive for a few weeks. I do like Otten playing with Baker, I just don't think there will be enough opportunities for him in that offense. Will need to find an additional dart throw with one of my last couple of picks but barring anything crazy this should definitely be my weakest group.

PK and DEF

I got two of each and hoping kickers can keep their jobs and the defenses can become turnover opportunists.

I like the chances of some of my late round guys (Foreman, Mims, Wicks) to perform well and if my early round guys can meet expectations then I like this team overall as long as the TE position isn't a complete anchor.

FWIW, I think your WR and QB groups are great, plus Breece. That’s a good team overall for sure.

QB. Herbert, Pitt duo. Not the best unit but very capable.while it cost me a roster spot but so would have Minny(my other fav duo picks): it did allow me earlier savings. QB does score greatly but feel this duo will suffice. Would have mayb3 gone backup to ensure starter but Stick does nothing for me. If I had drafted a Watson/Pitt, I would have taken a Winston in round 24. Don’t want season derailed by injury.

RB. Sea duo, Connor, Miller, Wright. Like QB, I have one that will provide points each week. Connor is good and think Marvin opens up things. Really wanted Barkley to start. Stevenson would have been another. Like Miller as Kamara getting up there and not the future. Plus his contract issues. Wright wild card.

WR. Harrison, Garrett W, Higgins, Worthy, Juedy, Williams, R. Wilson, Polk. This is young group but I really like. 3 rookies feels too aggressive but I think all will be successful. Almost added Waddle and still prefer Barkley/Deebo to Wilson/Walker but did not get choice. If Rodgers stays healthy like the Jet duo. Guaranteed good score each week. My 2 flex should come from here.in at the max of 8 so far like a few others. Felt lots of bargains deep in draft. Lots of guys I liked that got sniped on but no big deal

TE. Engram, Friermuth, Parham. Looks like I might be tied to Pitt passing. I like that for consistency. When they have decent game, I get points everywhere or at least 1 of 2. In best ball doubling down is good idea. Parham just a dart throw. Had couple RBs in list here also. Engram has nice rapport with Lawrence. Feel great where I got him in the end. Pat F can provide insurance or flex ability. I got 3 like everyone but waited late.

PK. Zuerlein, Rookie(Little or Reinchard). I thought about 3rd here but how often doing flex. Best to worst in 22 was 68 points. Glad to wait here instead. Any of the 3 rookies will be fine since drafted. I know a little risky but Greg will have job. Rookie kicks in nice spot. There was still others I would have been happy with available. Just GB, NE, Car, Det, Wash not on list as not sure who leads job. Tight battles. I expect Carlson, Ryland, Mevis, Bates, not on roster to win. But could be Joseph, Slye, Pinero, Badgley, Ahmed instead

D. Texans, Chiefs, Packers. I think key to having chance. They score very well overall. I want them as a flex. 3 was imperative IMO and 7 teams felt the same. Amazed more not like Slob and got caught with 1. 22 last place team finished last in team D by a large margin. Not sure drafted correct ones but I love Texans adding Hunter, Chiefs just being perennial winner and Packers coming on. I had Ravens in preselect starting round 8. Just knew not imperative to have. But once it started,I wanted 3. It was a crazy run.

Overall, pretty happy. Swung more for fences as who remembers who finished 2nd to last.just the winner matters

Picking right in the middle of every round so runs shouldn’t have had too much an impact, what with never having to sit through more than 12 picks. And I was guaranteed to get a decent first rounder.

4.7 Love QB5
11.7 Levis QB23
23.7 O’Connell QB34
I’m a Love fan based on his second half last season, and think Levis has upside as a low end QB2, with all the aging QB’s going before him. O’Connell supposedly has the inside track to start so seemed a better bet than a 7th RB or 8th WR.

1.7 Bijan Robison RB2
7.7 Swift RB21/20.7 Roschon Johnson RB61
8.7 Zamir White RB28
14.7 Chase Brown RB42
22.7 Trey Sermon RB71
I’m hoping the new staff makes up for Bijan’s underutilization last year. There’s many mouths to feed in Chicago but am hoping the underneath stuff will be there for Swift, and got Roschon as his insurance policy. Zamir looked good down the stretch, and Brown backs up one of the weaker starting RB in Cincy. Was hoping for Mattison to pair with Zamir but he wasn’t there, so decided to go with Sermon in the event Taylor misses time in Indy.

3.7 Nico WR15
5.7 Zay Flowers WR25
9.7 Jameson Williams WR46
10.7 Cooks WR50
18.7 Demarcus Robinson WR68
19.7 Michael Wilson WR 71
21.7 Elijah Moore WR82
My weakest position group but I like the upside of the four younger ones and the offenses the older ones are in. I view Nico as a WR1 so was happy he was still there in the 3rd.

2.7 McBride TE3
7.7 Kmet TE15
16.7 Gesicki TE26
24.7 Kuntz TE45
Went TE earlier because of the rather steep dropoffs. Wanted Parkinson or Sanders as my 4th TE, so with them gone I went with a Jets backup whose father I knew in high school.

15.7 Butker PK3
17.7 Koo PK11
Wanted to get ahead of any kicking runs, and got two on offenses that look improved over the offseason.

12.7 Colts D10
13.7 Bears D20
The run started so I jumped in and when it continued I stayed in. Thinking the Bears looked good down the stretch. Was surprised the Raiders lasted to 27, given their second half.

Feel like I made several mistakes during the draft but was able to make some corrections and field a decent team.

QB: Mahomes, Burrow - Should be top 2 or 3 production and should be for what I spent. Going to need a lot of 30 and 40 spots between these two

RB: Etienne, Montgomery, Dobbins, Allgier, Estime - Not much punch or depth. Kept getting snipped. Could be the worst group in the league and I'm relying on Dobbins. Ouch

WR: Chase, Dell, Sutton, McConkey, Palmer, Downs, Moore, Slayton - Spent less top end capital than most. I'm banking on Palmer/McConkey producing a WR2 worthy score most weeks and a bargain price. Really thinking people aren't giving Hebert enough credit. Most of these guys were huge FBG value and all should have a decent role. This is an interesting format and I'm not sure how to weigh 8 decent dart throws to post 4 scores.

TE: Furguson, Dissly/Hurst - Personally I thought TEs went way to early. I dug myself a hole here but I think Dissly/Hurst will fix that. FBG has these two at TE 33 and 36 for 86 and 76 points. I'm expecting an Everett/parham situation from last year where they combined to be a low end TE1.

K: Aubrey, Groupe, Karty - Need two to post one decent score. Figured if Karty makes the team that I could get an occasion flex score here when bye weeks have my other positions thin,

D: Cowboys, Eagles, Ravens - In hindsight I wish I would have draft better earliier and been able to draft a fourth. I want a double digit flex coming from these three half of the weeks.

@OldMilwaukee You can draft on the other end next time. Between you and Nittany you really caused havoc.

REF:

So I wanted to do updates and comment as the draft went on but keep getting sniped and got a little pissed and said screw it and didn’t want to tip my hand and give props to you ****ers. Figured I’d wait till the end. So a big FU and finger goes mostly OZ…. but a few of you others as well including the two *** munchers behind me ryhepas and crippler. Middle finger to the three of you.

So the first big finger goes to OZ as I was totally thinking Barkley would make it to me. He is my golden ticket this year and thought I would get him easy. Quit crying like a little girl that you wanted him Crippler, he would have never made it to your punk ***. Was totally planning on going for home runs in this best ball all play format so was getting a boner for Achane in the third. FU OZ. That’s twice in two picks. Up yours. Wanted Stroud as my QB1 here in this league with his weapons so bron1cos you can suck it…. hope the donkeys lose every game this year. I also wanted JSN this year so bite me. Really wanted Goff as my QB2 so Nittany made my **** list. Also wanted Jameson Williams as a mid sleeper this year so Go DC Yourself knows what he can actually do to himself. Really wanted Worthy so I should have taken him instead of Tua and see what happens. Thanks Crip. I also wanted Boyd late so another finger to ryheaps and a we should all be ashamed of allowing Nittany to get CMC ‘s backup at the 20-21 turn.

Alright….here we go…

7.11 Jayden Daniels QB12 WAS
9.11 Tua Tagovailoa QB17 MIA
15.11 Derek Carr QB27 NOS

I’m not sold on Daniels so I’m trusting the group think here. We will see. So in this format Tua falling to QB17 at the end of the ninth felt like perfect upside to back up my investment in Daniels. When it came to the Carr pick, I saw Crippler sitting there only with Herbert, so felt like I could add another locked in starter guy that could possibly score for me a few weeks/injury coverage and maybe force Crippler’s hand a little. Wanted him to pay the price a little in this all play format and thought letting him have Carr was like enabling one of my kids. We will see if his PIT game plan works as Herbert may not be what he used to be fantasy wise. Overall this group should have some huge weeks.

3.11Isiah Pacheco RB11 KCC
8.03 Austin Ekeler RB25 WAS
10.03 Gus Edwards RB37 LAC
17.11 MarShawn Lloyd RB52 GBP
21.11 Alexander Mattison RB68 LVR

Kind of punted this position but hope to get two scores. Realy counting on the top three to carry the mail here. Lloyd seeing decent touches would be a bonus and Mattison is probably ready should White disappoint. This is a meh group and banking on Ekeler to have a chip on his shoulder and Gus to be the banger that Harbaugh likes.

1.11 AJ Brown WR6 PHI
4.03 Braydon Aiyuk WR19 SF
5.11 Malik Nabers WR26 NYG
13.11 Jakobi Meyers WR57 LVR
14.03 Rashid Shaheed WR59 NOS
16.03 Gabriel Davis WR65 JAC
19.11 Rashod Batemon WR74 BAL
24.03 Troy Franklin WR95 DEN

Have to start 3 and can play up to 6 so I wanted to hammer WR. Hope for some consistency with the top 4 and then some big week best ball bonus babies with the last four. If healthy, this group should take up some flex spots. Davis may be my only WR3 here as the rest should be WR2 or better on their respective teams, plus I can’t quit Gabe. Batemon wasn’t great last year but expect him to be more of the game plan and as the WR2 in BAL felt like a little steal in the 19th.

2.03 Sam LaPorta TE1 DET
6.03 Brock Bowers TE11 LVR
20.03 Ben Sinnott TE32 WAS

I’m cool with LaPorta in the second, TE not a huge bonus here, but LaPorta kicked my *** in a couple of home leagues last year so I wanted a piece. If Bowers is the next TE Jesus, I’m golden and Sinnott could easily surplant Ertz and give me a nice 1-2 with Daniels occasionally. Some flex potential here.

18.03 Daniel Carlson PK16 LVR
22.03 Matt Prater PK23 ARZ
23.11 Nick Folk PK24 TEN

Love where Carlson and Prater play…can start two here and sometimes PK have weeks outscoring other positions, so getting three after round 18 that can possibly score 10-12 plus any given week is pretty solid that late. I started thinking in round 23….do I want a dart throw that may hit or miss, and maybe never score…?...or a PK that on any given week might be the ONE PK I needed. PK is almost automatic points, I think having three on a 24 man roster is a decent strategy IMO.

11.11 San Francisco 49ers DST3
12.03 New York Jets DST7

Lots of talk on DST. I got two top ones (according to the “experts”)….only two can score each week, maybe both of them score for me most weeks. Only two weeks where I don’t have that option….don’t need 3 IMO if you have two good ones.

Overall….my lead in was a lot of tongue in cheek….I did get sniped a few times…. but that’s what we do here …..and why it’s so fun with you guys. I think I got a shot if my RB’s stay healthy. Thanks for participating and next time you get a chance….raise a glass for our old pal BTSW….RIP old FBG…I’m sure he would have loved to be owner #14…. :suds:

I haven’t been to a beach since March when the wife and I visited Portugal with friends, but when I go, I remember By the Sea Wannabe fondly. Thanks to Ref for the reminder and thanks to all of you for participating.

Got my hands full right now as my Mom is in the hospital, so will post some thoughts on the draft later.

I kind of like my team, particularly my QBs and WRs, but don’t think that it is the best team.

Love drafting large rosters in these summer drafted leagues with a variety of scoring as it forces me to research some and that is good.

Usually pretty good about 'live' (in-the-moment) posting during Drafts; somewhat behind here, as I made an 11th-hour decision to attend a culinary conference in Buffalo from 7/10-13...my other half was able to accompany me, and we chose to take a 'long way home' route by way of State College, Pa over a couple extra days, arriving home late Monday 07/15.
Didn't impede my ability to make picks in a relatively timely manner, but timely commentary was a more difficult proposition.

Pretty hectic post-conference week, compounded by my other half's contracting strep and bronchitis, while attempting to keep up with me burning the candle at both ends during the trip, and while I avoided contagion of both, I landed a pretty nasty cold virus of my own that knocked me out for the better part of last week.

Any of you dudes from/familiar with/spent significant time recently in/ Buffalo? Pretty cool place, with a surprisingly diverse and sophisticated culinary scene.

Melissa is a terrible passenger on long drives (past accident (not her fault) trauma), and she volunteered to drive up the entire way (about 8 hours, stops included), which allowed me to do the kind of deep-dive research I try to do well in advance of arriving in an unfamiliar city. I have no issues with reading while in a moving vehicle, and between football and culinary research, I didn't waste a second of that opportunity. Maybe get into some more of that later, but for now I'll just say that in terms of the 2 'Buffalo Classics' that most FBG's probably can relate to:

Buffalo Wings and 'Beef On Weck' Sandwiches - if you're looking to 'one-stop-shop' and get outstanding versions of both, in the same place, the majority of my research sources pointed me here:

https://www.barbill.com/ - Bar Bill Tavern, East Aurora, about 20 minutes outside the city, southeast, I think. We tried probably at least 6 spots that research commonly agreed were among the best of the best for either wings or sandwiches, but nothing delivered prime examples of both like The Bar Bill Tavern.

Special shout out to Kelly's Korner, another spot that had very respectable versions of both wings and weck, but the atmosphere took it over the top - a prototypical blue-collar pub, the old-school type that doesn't have a website, but exactly the kind of neighborhood that serves as a breeding ground for bona-fide Bills Mafia members, and an ideal spot to watch a game in the company of said folks. I have tentative plans to return here this fall for exactly that purpose.

PS: a properly made Beef On Weck is one hell of a sandwich. So simple, yet so good.

Sorry, I just couldn't help myself.
With that out of the way, I'll start a new post regarding this Draft and my Squad.

Drafting leadoff, my 1st pick was made for me: CMC, and no looking back.

You all know what drafting from the corner turns entails: do your calculus, and reach for 'your guys' if you 'just have to have them'.

2.13/3.01: Lamar Jackson/Mark Andrews: First turn, and already put to a decision. Adding an extra drafter (over the standard 12-Team format) already having an impact, with 9RB and 12WR taken, most available options decidedly 2nd tier. CMC is kind of an island unto himself, was looking to build an early high ceiling stack, if available, due to the long wait ahead. LJax/Andrews also presented the opportunity to potentially put stress on the rest of the field, with QB2 and TE4 pushing those positions and maybe causing a pleasant surprise to fall back to me at the next pairing.

Really lucked out that a pairing with this potential fell in my lap. Not sure I would have taken Allen/Kinkead had the opp presented itself to me. Thought a bit about Hurts/DvSmith, but too early for dual value, and didn't think Smith would make it back to 4.13.

4.13.5.01: Joe Mixon/Amari Cooper: It's just going to get more apparent that there's an extra Drafter involved as this goes on. As this round progressed, my targets clarified into DvSmith and Mixon. Holloway 11th-hour sniped DvSmith, which sorely vexed me, having waited so long to draft a WR. Happy to land at least one prime target, at least. Absolutely enamored with Mixon for '24. Cooper at least an Alpha consolation prize, with some proven ability to be 'QB-proof'. Really no other choice here, both in terms of position and player, when looking at other remaining options. Really, really wanted DvSmith here.

6.13/7.01: DHopkins/Hollywood Brown: Corner turns, let the draft come to you. WR/WR really my best option here, and brought me 2 guys I wanted. Think Hollywood Brown is almost as much a 'dream come true' offseason landing spot in KC, as DHenry in Baltimore. Rice is a knucklehead, Toney is a bigger one, if that's even possible, and don't expect rookie WR to have much 1st-year impact in KC. I think he's going to crush it, as Mahomes favorite WR target. Similarly, I think familiar, savvy vet Hopkins is the straw that stirs the drink for the 24 Titans. Ridley and Boyd are nice adds, but I'm very convinced DHop benefits the most, and he wears the pants in the WR room and is Levis' daddy as well. Very underrated for 24. I love the Packers 24 offensive weapons, it would have been close with JReed and Hopkins, had Holloway not taken him, but I'd rather take a cheaper piece of that group later. Also, it was my last chance to get the cheapest piece of the Texans WR group (Dell), and taking QB into consideration, that might have been a good call. Dell might have a higher best ball ceiling, but I'm pretty convinced a lower floor.

8.13/9.01: Goff/Singletary: Probably would have looked hard at Lockett if Holloway hadn't taken him (there's a pattern here). As a matter of fact, Holloway discussed above how pleased he was with his Lockett/BRobinson turn, and I agree. In retrospect, I might have been better off choosing BRob over Singletary, but as a 'skinsguy, I tend to bias away from 'skins players, so as not to color my selections with homerism, sometimes to my deficit. I don't put much faith in Day 3 RB's threatening established starters, and liked what I saw of Singletary last year in Houston, and now he's reunited with Daboll without a Josh Allen to steal touches from. Could get the job done. Selected Goff as much for value (QB14, so first of the QB2's, think he'll finish higher than that), as much as to stir something up and possibly bump something back to me at the 10/11 turn. There just wasn't much available at that moment that pushed my buttons enough to reach.

10.13/11.01: Samuel/Likely: Really had my heart set on Brandin Cooks making it back to me, but GDCY snuffed that candle midway through the 10th. Cooks would have made an ideal WR4 in this format and with my build, and I might have taken Samuel as well, as WR5 and waited a turn on Likely. I'm liking the narrative working around Samuel in Buffalo. I think there's a lot more to him than was seen in Wash for the last few years, and he can be a 'Deebo-lite' weapon and gets me a viable piece of uber-stud QB Allen, so there's some upside. Part of the LJax/Andrews stack build that I've been studying is making Likely a priority, as he's a true premium TE handcuff, and then de-emphasizing the position the rest of the way, since you're always going to have elite TE1 production, and you only need to cover the Week 14 bye. Of course, I didn't exactly build a studly enough Team around Andrews/Likely to only roll out 1TE, but we'll see. Have to be 'very right' about a lot of other pieces for the strat to pan out.

That's about all I can do for now. Back with another installment in a bit.

Through 11:
LJax, Goff
CMC, Mixon, Singletary
ACooper, Hollywood, DHop, Samuel
Andrews, Likely

So the first big finger goes to OZ as I was totally thinking Barkley would make it to me. He is my golden ticket this year and thought I would get him easy. Quit crying like a little girl that you wanted him Crippler, he would have never made it to your punk ***. Was totally planning on going for home runs in this best ball all play format so was getting a boner for Achane in the third. FU OZ. That’s twice in two picks. Up yours

:D
I haven’t had the time to do a real write up yet but this makes me 😀

1.06 A. St.Brown (WR5) Thought for a second about going hero RB with Hall or Robinson but believed the best strategy for this middle slot would be BPA. Chaulk with St. Brown.

2.08 D. London (WR11) BPA Has a WR2 floor and most are seeing more opportunity with Cousins at the helm to get into WR1 territory.

3.06 C. Olave (WR14) Likely would have taken Kincaid here had Duckboy not picked him. Going BPA……. not going to be sucked into the QB or TE craziness. Wavered between him and Kupp.

4.08 J Jacobs. (RB14) Better quit drafting WR’s. Jacobs was the RB1 a very short time ago and has moved onto a much better situation in GB. Could easily get the volume to be a RB1. Liked Mixon also.

5.06 D. Prescott (QB7) Was watching Diggs fall, and would have grabbed him had Duckboy not snipped me again. Better not risk a QB run. Prescott was QB2 last and could easily repeat.

6.08 T McLaurin (WR30) Could deliver WR3 production, but a safe bet to get WR4 production and be a steady flex spot contributor. Really didn’t like anyone picked at any position in this round.

7.06 N. Harris (RB23) With these large rosters, I will try and wrap up the Arther Smith’s back field and grab Warren next round.

8.08 R. Rice (WR42) I might have had too much to drink here, but thought Rice was falling way to much and felt that Warren might last another half dozen picks.

9.06 T. Spears (RB34) IDIOT! Why didn’t I take Warren last round. I own Spears in every Dynasty league I am in. Why not here…..he’ll get work, the question is how much?

10.08 H Henry (TE18) Value is starting to fall back in line with TE’s. Will have to platoon this (my weakest) position.

11.06 B. Mayfield (QB22) Tail end of my QB2 ranks…… better grab one. Glad to be in the middle.

12.08 Fins (Def11) Better get one now. Glad I am in a middle slot!

13.06 K. Shakir (WR56) Had to get one of the Bills WR’s and you all left me my top choice! Defense be dammed. He should be a steady contributor to my flex spot.

14.08 Q Johnston (WR60) Defense be dammed! Was snipped by GDCY with his Chris Brown pick. Went with the upside of Johnson over the steadiness of Doubs. Might regret it.

15.06 Panthers (Def29) It worked! Got a second defense.

16.08 J. McLaughlin (RB49) Eyed Noah Fant here but think there will be a plethora of TE’s available late. Lot of hype on this guy and questions about the Bronco’s backfield.

17.06 T. Bass (PK10) Kicker run. Want a good one as I will go solo. Bass had an off year….. expecting a bounce back season.

18.08 D. Knox (TE 29) Should easily see in increase in targets, as so many were vacated in Buffalo. Very undervalued IMO.

19.06 D Bellinger (TE31) Should be the starting TE. Year three of steady improvement!?

20.08 T. Bigsby (RB62) JAG who needs an injury to be contributing at all for me. Really wanted J. Woods here who was snagged by OZ.

21.06 T. Tracy (RB66) Who? Tyrone Trace! You heard it here first.

22.08 G Dulchich (TE36) Loading up on potential

23.06 J Wiley (TE40) I think he grabs the TE2 job in KC. Enough said.

24.06 D Laube (RB75) Could have gotten a second kicker.
Nahhhhhhhh
